I would not recommend John Moore to change my light-bulbs. Having John Moore service is living hell... and Im a former US Marine infantryman... Id rather be back in combat than deal with them again. In August of 2015, I paid John Moore to completely replace my homes old a/c system, replace all duct work, and blow in insulation in the attic. All told, approx $20,000 worth of services. In the process of removing the old system, John Moore found a rats nest in the attic. The salesmen called me to explain that John Moore wanted to stop the installation until the rats could be removed as they would destroy the new system That made sense to me, and I decided to go with John Moore Pest Control. I purchased their Pest Control option, which guaranteed a year rat free. I also purchased termite prevention, as well as regular home/yard pest spraying. The pest control folks came out, explained that they sealed the home and attic, and they laid traps out. One brutal week of Texas August later... the a/c folks came out and finished the install. The install was terrible. Within the first 30 days, the a/c failed three times. The first two were pressure switches, then a coil. The John Moore service tech commented on the installation as "terrible" and "subpar"; and then he took me into the attic to look at the the sagging plenum boxes and poor work. Another installation team was dispatched out on day 60. The entire time... rats descended from the attic and started destroying the house. Holes chewed into cabinets, doors, baseboards, food destroyed, and they destroyed my new a/c system. John Moore agreed to replace all duct-work and damaged components once they got us rat free. Fast forward to October of 2016, and John Moore never got us rat free. They quit. They said they would refund my money - its 11/15/2016 and I havent seen it yet. They also double billed me on my regular pest spraying service. Still havent seen that either. Correspondence seems to die on Harrys desk (the Pest Control manager). So I called Critter Control of Houston. They sent technicians out to the house, and sealed it up properly. The crew foreman walked me around the house with a dowel rod and showed me 4 places John Moore sealed improperly, 2 places they outright missed, showed me how the flashing around the garage door was a personal injury potential if someone fell, showed me the failure of using hardware cloth to patch holes. John Moore screwed hardware cloth over my clothes dryers outside vent--- major fire hazard. Critter Control used mortar to seal entry points and did a bang up job. I cannot recommend them enough. On 11/12/2016, John Moore did make good on replacing the a/c components that were damaged. I finally have working a/c. 1 year and 3 months later. I still havent seen my refund for Rodent Control nor my refund on the Pest Spraying service. Save yourself a massive headache and go elsewhere.

The original appointment was for Monday, June 8, 2015. John Moore Service only allows a 4 hour window for the service fee of $49.00. (A smaller time frame is available for a much higher service fee.) This fee was supposed to be applied to any service rendered. It was not. On Monday the window was from 4PM to 8PM for the service technician to arrive. I specifically told John Moores customer service to notate the AC was located on a full two story roof and to bring a 27 foot ladder. I arrived at 4PM to wait. Around 6PM John Moore customer service called and stated they were over booked. At 7:30PM customer service called and stated they were running late. The technician did not arrive until 8:45. It was completely dark. When he arrived, he told me he could not fix the unit because he did not have a ladder. Each time John Moores customer service called I reminded them they needed a tall ladder. Customer service told me at 8:45 they would book another appointment for the following day from 8 to Noon. I told them I had already waited for almost 5 hours and they agreed to make the service call for 8AM to 9AM on Tuesday. Tuesday morning the technician arrived at 9AM. The technician had a ladder and examined the condenser. He told me the unit was full of Freon but needed to have the evaporator coil cleaned and the condensation line blown out. He initially quoted me $850 to perform the service. When I asked if he was going to remove the coil and clean, he told me this was just for an acid spray. The technician told me to remove the coil would be $2,000. I told him to just blow out the condensation line. He quoted me a price of $350.00 to blow out the line. I told the technician I was going to call and ask for a supervisor. The technician told me the supervisor would not be at her desk and would have to call me back. I called John Moores customer service to inquire if these were the actual prices they charged and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told the supervisor had just walked away from her desk and would have to call me back. John Moore call center provides terrible customer service. After sometime, the technician told me he could reduce the charge to blow out the line to $149.99 plus the charge of $49.00 for the service call. Since I had waited for almost 2 days I agreed to have the line cleaned. John Moores customer service is awful and their prices to perform service are outrageous. John Moore Service clearly does not care about providing quality customer service at a fair price. Ironically, when I was typing this complaint (Friday, June 12, 2015), John Moore customer service called and offered to refund the $49.00 service charge. I will have to wait to see if they follow through on the refund. I would not recommend them!

***UPDATE from yesterday Oct 26th: a technician calls and says hi Im xxx from JM....Im about 30 minutes away. Im said excuse me? He said he needed to come test the gas pressure and lock the gas line? Im so frustrated at this point it all sounds like Charlie Brown talking to the adults. I told him no, you can come when the inspector comes. Of they forgot to do something from 2 months ago and want to come at a raNdom time to cover thier butts well sorry not on my dime! Unless you want to reimburse me the $500 for the permit....three techs and a quality control person came out here originally and not one noticed they didnt complete the job. Update October 25th: I just got a call from John moore asking if they can have the city of houston come inspect thier work they did. I asked why wasnt this done 2 months ago and she said she just found it in the paperwork....they charged us 500 for a permit they forgot to have inspected, and great John Moore experience! Now I have to take time off because they arent organized or cant do work properly! We had an issue with our tankless we need it to be repaired. They gave us three options...of course ranging from $10k (new system) to a mid level repair to $3k (get us back in service with our existing tankless. I asked how soon can we get it done...they said immediately and scheduled us for service within 3 days. Day of service....they didnt have any of the parts needed....WTH. They said one piece was discontinued and the replacement part was discontinued. My boyfriend had to look up and provide them with the part number...should have known then this was not a good sign. That day was a waste. I had to arrange to work from home that day for the tech to advise they didnt have the parts. They advised the system as installed incorrectly and here are the corrections that were needed. We paid the $3k. Re-scheduled to get the repairs made. System still giving us errors. Called the first "master plumber" his response. Call and get a technician sent oit. They sent out another guy and he tells us we need to replace our faucet? For an error that says gas line interruption? They replaced part of the gas line. They sent the "quality" guy out and he looked over the stuff and said what they did was correct...however what they recommended didnt fix our problem. He also said they didnt install it so they didnt want to touch it....so in the end if THEY dont install thier own systems they wont fix it...so $3k later we still have issues. Oh the quality guy said he would call back monday and we didnt hear anything....now we are reaching out to another repair company...someone who will touch our system!
