COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT. We used the 1st time customer coupon for a new motor in our 1 ton truck. I just had to share my expirience, since it seems to differ SO greatly from all the others. We actually had to keep a list of all the times we took the vehicle back, 14 F#@$ing times. Completely frustrating and annoying. Yes, Craig seemed like a nice guy, but nice doesnt make my truck run right. He doesnt have a clue. Our theory is that Bevil got a bad motor from City and just didnt have the gaul to go back to them and argue that our motor was junk from start. Then, as if a bad motor and a mechanic who is incompetent arent enough, my husband was the one who found the problems most of the time, as it was leaking oil from EVERYWHERE depending on the day. Yes, Craig threw his own money at the "problem", but he never got to the root of it. His mechanics, and maybe him, left pieces off left and right. Requiring return trips. The spark plugs are bad after 5k miles because the motor is burning oil. Now the lash valves are bad b/c of the poor assembly on the motor, which is why 4 of the cylinders burn oil... It has just been a terrible experience and our truck isnt even right still. One could argue we should have taken it to a different mechanic after all this except we were in thousands at this point and Bevil was so nice and honest, we kept giving him chances. All for nothing except a lot of time, money and ill feelings. Lesson learned: if everyone else says dont do it, just accept it and dont look for the 1 guy (Bevil) who says "sure, we can get ya taken care of." In fact, I am shocked my truck is not in the pic above since it spent most of last year down there. We will never use or recommend this mechanic.

I was at a tire shop a few years ago when a guy pulled up with a car just like the one I recently acquired. When I asked him if he had someone who he trusted to work on his car he quickly replied, “Yes” and gave me Craig Bevil’s name and number upon my request. He said that he and his family have had Craig work on their cars for years. It sounded a bit too good to be true but with the very positive recommendation and my need for someone I could trust to work on this vehicle I thought I would give Craig a try. Craig was willing to let me watch the repair so I thought I would be able to verify his work. As a certified aircraft mechanic it appeared that Craig had very good technical skills. Craig exceeded my expectations in every way! My experience with automotive shops is that some are excessively expensive, some don’t take proper care to avoid collateral damage, some are ineffective trouble shooters, a few are dishonest and some are prolific up-sellers. Craig was none of these. I especially appreciate the fact that Craig can quickly diagnose a problem with great accuracy. Often my problems have been as simple as a vacuum leak. Craig’s repair was quick, inexpensive and fixed the problem the first time. In one instance Craig said he was not equipped to properly diagnose a problem due to the need for very specialized equipment. He for my benefit was not willing to guess at the problem. This further increased my confidence in Craig. I recommended that a family contact Craig to help with problems they were having with their vehicles and they were very very satisfied as well with his work. For these reasons I heartily recommend Bevil Automotive.

Regrettably, I have to post a review that is less positive than the others here. Not knowing a thing about cars, I brought a used car in to have it examined before I bought it. While Craig and his wife were friendly and seemed well-intentioned, the $35 inspection was less than thorough, and if I had known about these rather obvious problems (again, Im not a car person and none of these were mentioned) I would have been in a better bargaining position with the dealership. To their credit, they did catch that the spark plugs were incorrect and that the timing belt was worn (then quoted me $425 to fix it) but just look at what they missed: - 4 tires at 2/32, 3/32, 7/32, 5/32 wear--all had to be replaced due to uneven wear ($250) - car pulled to the right because front tires were at 5/32 and 2/32 respectively (they said bad alignment--got it aligned for $70 which it probably didnt need) - 7-year-old battery was almost dead (left me with a dead car in a parking lot, lost a day of work and had to replace, $170) - cracked pipe leading into muffler (had to have welded, $50) - windshield wiper fluid pump doesnt work - fogged headlights - almost critically low on oil - worn out wiper blades - plastic parking skirt under front bumper held on by ZIP TIES - breaks very worn Its likely I could have gotten about $500 off the price of the car if I had known about all of these problems. It sounds like they do good work, but my inspection was not nearly good enough.

I would give these folks 10 stars if it let me... Called and spoke to Tracy told her what my car was doing she relayed it to Craig who told me unfortunately it could be any number of things.. I took it in, dropped it off and the next day they called me back telling me it was some weird sensor (same thing I thought it was after hours of internet searches) They gave me an estimate, then started repairs. He fixed the sensor plus my oil leak from the cracked head gasket and changed some worn belts.. I get there a few days later the bill was exactly as discussed and I was on my way.. my car ran great sounds great.. no problems.. fast forward a few months my car starts this horrible squeal when starting.. never did that before.. called Tracy she remember me " bring it in tomorrow she said" I take my car in per appointment Craig tightens belt free of charge and Im on the road in 10 mins.. This company is truly great any one searching for a mechanic LIKE ME is lucky you found them... Competitively Price, efficient, no surprises, they stand behind their work and they got a really cool dog... what more can you possibly ask for... Thanks Craig and Tracy.. You guys are the best... When I met my future husband (8 years ago), he said the only person he would let touch one of his cars was Craig Bevil. I respected this since he drives with his business and has owned LOTS of cars. After 8 years of calling Craig with every conceivable automotive emergency we could dream up, I agree 100%...the only people I want working on our cars is Craig Bevils team at Bevil Automotive! Craig is HONEST and dependable....he will always level with you about the work that needs to be done now and the work that is coming up that can wait...and how much all of it will cost. And if you cant get to him, he will come to you.... we were out of town and our 19 year old daughter was broken down in the mall parking lot and my husband said "call Craig"....he got her on the road again within an hour!! Craig Bevil is, very simply, the BEST!!
