I took my car in for an oil change and a coolant leak check. The service adviser Lou was awesome. He advised me that it would be better to do the coolant leak check before the oil change in case I decided the coolant issues were too numerous for me to fix. This way, I would not be paying for an oil change before addressing the possible more serious issues. I have never been anywhere else that was so honest and so informative. I decided to wait in the lobby (with complimentary snacks) while they did the coolant check first. I am glad I did. It turned out that I had to do a repair on my coolant system that was more important than the oil change and was able to postpone the oil change for the next week while my cars more immediate thermostat and coolant hose leak were repaired. As a single parent, this definitely helped me to budget out the things that were needed for the week. They took me home (at no cost) while the repairs were completed. Thanks to Lou and Emiliano (the owner) for all their work being done at a fair price. I also appreciate how Margie (the other owner) was so friendly and attentive while I waited for the results of the diagnostic. She made me feel welcomed and at ease while Matt (the Tech) worked efficiently and thoroughly check my car out. After the repairs, Lou walked me back to the car while it was still in the bay, and showed me exactly what he had done and even showed me the cruddy, old, and cracked parts that were failing. Talk about service! I will be taking my car here from now on, no questions asked.

Hi my name is Alex and today 12/15/2010, I got my car back from EC. It seems my experience differs greatly from that of others. My car wouldnt start and so after changing out the starter I decided to take in after reading all the great reviews. Collin was helpful and said I could drop it off and theyd give me a ride to and from home. Great so far. Then I get a call from Collin who says the wiring on the starter is messed up so they needed to fix that which would come out to about $177. He also said that I could get the switch on the transmission replaced for another $140. But he said the problem was the wiring of the starter not the switch. So I declined on the switch and gave the go ahead on the wiring. After they allegedly the replace the wiring he calls me back and says its the transmission switch thats the problem. Initially I told him to fix it then decided Id replace it myself. Once I informed him of my decision it seems his attitude toward me changed, he told to come in and pick up the car. I asked him for a ride back and he said no that their guy was busy. Which sounded untrue by his tone. Anyway I paid near $200 and got my car back in worse condition because now it does this weird shaking every time I turn. Collin denies anything else was done to the car but it wasnt doing that when I took it in. So my only recourse is this review and I will be complaining to the BBB as well. Thanks and I hope this helps. Im still searching for an honest mechanic who know what hes doing.

EC is a good guy. I have been using him for about 15 years with at least 6 different cars. In those years what I have valued most is his willingness to look at my perspective. If I tell him I cannot afford A,B,C&D he is willing to sit down and help me prioritize the repairs or decided if I need a new car. I also found him to be very honest. I recently took my car in for a new AC compressor. It had all the tail tail signs. I saved up the money, dropped of the vehicle and green lighted him for the AC repair. He calls me a few hours later and tells me the AC compressor was good, but instead I had a bad seal. He could have easily taken my money for the full job, but saved me hundreds of dollars and sure enough the AC has blown cold all summer long. Something else cool is his per-purchase check ups. Yes, I know I sound like a commercial now. But he saved me from buying a few pieces of junk. Or in his words, If you buy this car one of my mechanics will retire on the work to repair it. On the other hand I was buying a truck at a steal of a price and he told me, yes the clutch is shot and the engine needs a major tune up. He gave me the estimates for both repairs. EC told me for that price plus the repairs youll have a great bargain. I bought the truck, drove it straight to EC for the repairs and between the bargain price and ECs repairs I got 10 years of work out of that truck and if it wasnt for EC Id have passed on a great bargain.

I have been to EC Quality twice in the past 2 weeks. The first time, I got a 90K maintenance check. I called 3 stores and was quoted prices ranging from $180-$450. Needless to say I chose EC Quality for $180. When I asked about the difference, the owner showed me a list of Mazada recommended flushes and check ups. He did NOT attempt to foist extra flushes or extra charges (i.e. changing spark plugs, flushing the transmission and coolant, etc.). He then very honestly told me many of the flushes and changing spark plugs are done every 60K so I was not due for these until 120K. My second encounter with EC Quality was just as positive. I brought my car in to change the radiator hose, thermostat, and have the coolant flushed. They gave me a fair estimate (I had called 2 other shops asking for an approximate price) and even drove me home since the job was going to take 4 hours. Unfortunately, the job ended up taking 9 hours (due to a delay in the delivery of a particular part from an outside vendor), but Eric kept me updated. There was also a price difference in the part they originally quoted and the part I received, but they really worked with me to keep the price as close to the original estimate as possible. I really like the friendly people, the honest and timely service, and the affordable prices at EC Quality and will totally go back for any car care needs. P.S. The waiting room is clean and smells nice.

I moved to San Antonio about a year ago and I found myself in search of a new mechanic in the area. I am always apprehensive about visiting a new mechanic because of the fact that Im a female and some shops try to take advantage assuming that a woman isnt knowledgeable about cars, hence hitching up the prices for a simple service. After doing some research on auto repair shops near the UTSA area, I stumbled upon EC Quality Car Care and saw all the favorable reviews. When entering the establishment, I was politely greeted by Lou whom had a warm, inviting ambience. I explained to him what I needed done and he told me approximately how long it would take, as well as, offering me a ride home. When I picked up my vehicle, Lou went step by step as to all that was done while suggesting future maintenance but not insisting that I needed to get it done before I left the shop that day. I never do these reviews, but EC Quality Car Care is an honest, humble, and caring shop that doesnt get the credit they deserve. For any other women that feel uneasy going to just any auto repair shop, rest assure that youll be in great hands once you come here. I will continue to be a returning customer for as long as I am in San Antonio.
