We were referred to Specia Plumbing through a family member who vouched for them. Big mistake. Scope of work: Re-connect gas line to stove Disconnect and re-connect kitchen sink Disconnect and re-connect 3 bathroom sinks Disconnect and re-connect 1 bathroom sink (not included in original quote) He gave me a verbal quote for $150 (not including 1 bathroom sink, which we added later). The first trip they did nothing, just walked around looking at what needed to be done, even though I told the owner exactly what it was. The second trip, they worked a while and left something loose which caused a leak in our upstairs bathroom. Fortunately we heard the water dripping before we went to bed and shut off the water supply to that bathroom. So they had to come out a third time to fix that and finish the other tasks. He sends me a bill for almost $1400. I ask why its so much, and he seriously tried to explain it to me as if I was getting a deal. He says: "Oh, that for ALL of the labor, not just one item...". It was also at this point that he tells me their normal hourly fee is $168/hr, which he had NEVER mentioned before. They also had $170 worth of parts on the bill ON TOP OF $40 worth of parts that I paid for out of pocket at Home Depot. Again, they never said there was $170 worth of parts needed (and yes, I did ask because I was going to home depot and I knew theyd overcharge me, so I asked if they needed me to get anything and they said no). Says hell look at it and call me back. I think the first time we negotiated the price, he knocked off like $200. After another week and getting the person who referred us to Specia Plumbing involved, he dropped it to $600 (better, but nowhere near what he quoted us). He finally dropped it to 4 hours worth of labor, minus the cost of parts ($400 something dollars). We were tired of arguing and accepted, but I promised myself I wouldnt stay quiet, and I ABSOLUTELY will not refer anyone to them in the future.

We had a toilet fixed at a rental property on Thursday(work order# 167959). Their initial service was very good. The tech was friendly and polite. Friday evening our renters called to say their floor was completely soaked and the toilet was leaking. We called Specia as soon as we got the call. Specia called back to say well sounds like this is a warranty problems vs. maintenance and if I have to send someone out Ill have to pay overtime. Since it is after 6pm I will have to call you back Saturday morning. Here it is Sunday and we have not received a phone call back from Specia. Bottom line was when Specia performed their work the washer was offset in the tank which started leaking. I had to have someone else fix the job Specia was paid to do. We understand these things happen. The biggest disappointment I have with this company is their reaction to the problem and their responsiveness. Companies and people make mistake, this will always happen but a true test of a quality/reputable company is how it responds to their errors. Specia website states they are committed customer satisfaction and quality service. It says they have a reputation for honesty, reliability, and superior service. I’m disappointed to say they did not live up to their reputation.

I would at this point give NO stars if I could! I scheduled a plumber to come out with a 4 day wait. When my day for the onsite inspection & estimate was to take place, I called the plumber "Rudy" who was suppose to be at my house at 4:15, for which I took off work to meet at my home, only to find out he forgot. He asked I could reschedule tomorrow, I explained I couldnt take a another day off from work. He finally arrived around 5:45 pm. After walking through and discussing the project, he told me he should have an estimate for me over the new few days. I had to call 4 times over a 2 week period to get an estimate. When I did, it was so poorly detailed I didnt know what the grand total of $7000+ really included for a 60"x42" tub install to replace my shower only stall. I emailed the company back when I received my estimate and asked for one that reflected more of what we discussed which was the plumber setting the tub and reworking the water lines, I have yet to ever hear back from them again! I hate have my time wasted, and if you do too, avoid going here.

Called late yesterday for a toilet repair necessary for a final walk through at a nearby business. Was initially told that a tech could be there between 10am and 2pm today. Was pleasantly surprised when we received a call early this morning that a tech was available! Prices were very reasonable too. Would definitely recommend Specia Plumbing to anyone looking for a professional plumbing company.

We have used Specia Plumbing & Electric several times over the last year. Both personally for our home and a rental property. They have always been professional, timely, and honest...and all at a fair price. I highly recommend them. Schooley Mitchell of San Antonio
