We went to this auto repair shop based on the reviews. HUGE MISTAKE! On the way to our vacation destination, South padre, the a/c compressor, serpentine belt and the entire cooling system went crazy and made the vehicle we were in inoperable. We pulled into this auto repair shop, picked up a rental and prayed for the best. The A/c compressor was recently replaced and under warranty. After much finagling I was able to get them to agree to get a new compressor under the warranty at Oreillys auto shop. They fixed the vehicle to a tune of 1400 bucks. We were just happy to get home at that point. My problem is that this shop actually NEVER REPLACED the compressor only the serpentine belt, never received a warranty part and charged me for it. I have since had to have this redone and the mechanic pulled the part and was able to replace it all, since it is still under warranty for a whopping $250!! This place is a sham and I will be calling BBB about this. I hope anyone reading this and is in the same situation will avoid this place at all cost!

Where do I start! We drove in from Waxahachie, Texas after booking a horrible room in port Isabel we drove to SPI and our van broke down. We called a mechanic and they were there in 5 minutes. The owner Dan Gutierrez and his mechanic got the van to crank and drove it to the shop the whole way telling me itll be ok that hes gonna fix it good and that Dan is going to take care of us. We were still out with 4 teens we didnt have a car or a room and we just started our vacation. Dan and his wife went out of their way beyond their duties to pull some strings and booked us 2 night room. Also got a major discount on the room due to our situation. Our van was fixed in a day good to go. So I HIGHLY recommend south shore there were professional, caring, honest company!! Ty To South Shore for making what started as a horrible vacation due to your loving caring hearts we ended up having the time of our lives!!! Even though we spent 2 instead of the 4 days we planned thank you sooo much!

Highly Recommend South Shore Automotive!! My family was in South Padre Island for a vacation when our Toyota Sequoia all of a sudden wouldnt start. We had just finished dinner and found our vehicle completely dead... talk about nervous. We were 400 miles away from home and only had 4 days in South Padre with 2 kids. I called our hotel and they recommended South Shore Automotive so I called them from our stranded car. Dan, the owner, jumped into gear had his guys there in a minute. They towed me back to there shop, accessed that my starter died. Called to order the part and had my vehicle done by the next morning. They even gave me a ride back to my hotel. These guys are AMAZING and the work they did was better than the dealer has ever done. They have a certified Toyota mechanic who explained everything to me and did a great job fixing our SUV. Great job.

GREAT PEOPLE!! I personally was in contact with Jesse and Dan. Jesse constantly kept me up to date on where my car repair was at, any extra problems they noticed, and gave me a time and price before I picked up my car. In comparison to other places Ive been, this place is set at a great price. The most important part was that when I went to pick up my car, Dan to an extra 15 minutes out of his time to show me on a diagram what was messed up on my car along with showing me my old part that had to be replaced so that I had an understanding of what was wrong. I dont know anything about vehicles and I still left completely confident and with a firm knowledge/understanding of where I money went and what was changed. I would recommend these guys ten-fold, theyll take care of your car in a day or less.

Awesome Service - Was on a family vacation on the island and after a late dinner and heading back to our resort my battery not charging light came on. I looked up and found the only auto repair shop on the island. We went to the shop first thing the next morning. As suspected it was a bad alternator. The owner Dan said he could get one with in about an hour and fixed shortly after that. He drove us back to our resort. Couple of hours later he called and had his assistant drive our vehicle back to our resort after the repair. Great service, very honest and good price! I would certainly recommend this shop for anyone needing auto service for their vehicle. Thanks Dan!

I was stuck on the island like most people with car troubles. They were kind and friendly and very time oriented with my visit coming to and end. However, I paid $300 dollars for them to change my spark plugs and tell me I have an electrical issue. Well I found out that I did have an electrical issue. 4 out of 8 wires were missing the metal connectors to attach to the spark plug. Also one coil ignition pack was bad which is why I had a misfire in the first place. I was very disappointed in paying so much for no results, just to find my problem being something right under their nose. I know cars can be tricky but, this was an easy fix.

We got a flat the first night there. We put a spare on but needed the tires switched since the original rim got bent. They told us to come back later bc they had too much work. We went back and he charged $20!!! just to switch the tire from one rim to the other. He did have the decency to tell us to buy another tire bc theres a rip on the inside. He said the reason he cared was bc of our toddler in the backseat.The next day we went to The main land and bought a pretty good used tire for $30. I wouldnt go back unless I absolutely had to.

In SPI for a special celebration, noticed a service engine light on my car. Feeling very nervous about possibility of being ripped off in a resort - I went to South Shore automotive - these people go above and beyond doing good business - they are NICE people. Reasonable prices, excellent fast service and left me with a very favorable opinion of doing business with them. No hesitation in recommending them - honest, competent and very nice people - cant beat it. Wish I had them back home in the DFW area!

I would highly recommend South Shore. We were on vacation and I had two tires slashes overnight. These guys checked into multiple options and come out to the hotel, jacked up the van, took the rims back, mounted and balanced the tires, come back and installed them on the van. Great customer service. Thanks!

We drive a 25 year old VW Westie. We were down from Canada for a month and needed some work done....based upon the reviews we entrusted Dan and his team to complete a number of repairs. They did a great job on everything and charged a very fair price. The auto world needs more shops like this one!!!
