I needed new shocks for my car and went to 3 different places for an estimate. All 3 of them quoted me $1800. My car is 15 years old so I didnt want to pay that much. I called Midas in Universal City and they quoted $750 for Monroe shocks. I couldnt believe it was so much cheaper so I was hesitant. I dropped off my car the next morning. I fully expected to get a call saying I needed all this other stuff done to jack up the price. No call came. I picked up my car and its riding great. Then on Friday, my daughter called me and said she had dropped her car off at a “brake specialist” because she heard a noise near her front wheels and thought it might be her brakes. They told her that her brakes were a MESS and that they would rebuild them for $1900. They also tried to scare her saying she better take care of it soon. She called me and asked what I thought. I told her that $1900 was ridiculous and she should pick up her car and take it to Midas and ask for Matt, the manager. She took it there today and after looking at the car he called her and said there was nothing wrong with her brakes. They said they would continue to look at her car and see what they think is causing the noise. They finally told her they couldn’t duplicate the noise and she could bring it back next week and let them keep it for a full day so they could have more time to get the noise to occur for them. They didn’t charge her a penny. Midas could have easily told her it was the brakes and they would charge her a lower price. She would have been so relieved that she might have paid it. Very honest place. I will be using them for my car repairs from now on.

Well it was a great weekend at the river this year. But the trip home on the other hand was not so great. Driving home our transmission dip stick tube broke. So we went to Midas in Universal City. And those guy bent over backwards to help us out. The first day was Memorial Day and no part places were open. So they found a used part. When it was delivered the part had a crack in it. The guy at Midas tried to use it but it didnt work. Then the same day they got another part in. When it was delivered it was the wrong part as well. Now remember this is Monday. So we had to get a hotel room. The next day we walked back to Midas to see how it was going on fixing out car. And again the part place sent the wrong part again. Midas tried even using the wrong part by bending it to see if they could get us home. But no luck. Back to the hotel we went. Now at this point I needed a drink to calm myself. Wednesday we walk back again. We get there and my husband is talking to the guy at Midas and not saying anything to me. So I knew something was up. And there was, the part they ordered was sent to another place on the other side of San Antonio. Matt the guy from Midas was now more mad then I was. But like anything, it all worked out in the end. They got it running and they got us home. Thank you so much Midas, everyone of your workers need a big pat on the back and did a great job. Thank yall so much!!!

Yesterday I went to Midas to get my oil changed as I had a coupon for a free tire rotation also. When they inspected my car they noticed that the front end shocks and struts were just destroyed and needed to be replaced. The Assistant Manager then showed me all the maintenance that my car needed as was well past due on some items as I just didnt have the money before. The total was about $1600 for everything to get my car into good shape. He then told me that he would cover everything extra after the oil change and shocks/struts replacement which ended up saving me about $600. They didnt even put my car up on the rack until around 3pm and they closed at 6pm, well he then called all around to his part suppliers to get my vehicle done that day if humanly possible. He went out of his way to make sure that my car would be finished yesterday, knowing that otherwise I would be without a car until Monday at the earliest, he then put every available mechanic on my car so no doubt he lost business because everyone was working on my car but he never once showed an ounce of impatience and even kept the shop open late to finish my car! This shop will be getting my business from here on out, the last place I had my tires looked at never showed an ounce of concern other than how fast they could get my money and get the next car on the rack!

Never again. Against my better judgment I went to Midas for simple exhaust work (tail pipes with chrome tips). They quoted me $120.00 over the phone, only to change the quote to $190.00 after the car was on the lift. Three hours later the technician gave me a lecture about how the tail pipes would not be straight because of the pipes prior to the muffler not being perfectly aligned. I took the car home only to notice that the right tail pipe was an inch and a half longer than the left (dual exhaust out the back). I promptly called Midas and told them I was not satisfied and was informed to bring the car back the next day. I showed up at 0800 (at opening) only to have to wait another half an hour for the technician to show. At this point bad went to worse and I ended up in a shouting match with the technician over his quality of work. All of this after the service manager acknowledged that the pipes were not correctly measured. Anyhow, the problem was fixed with much attitude from Midas. Buyer beware!!!!! So much for customer service.

7/14/2016 Called and talked to Will, ask for a price to replace the brake pads on my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. Quoted me $129.95 including turning rotors. Took it there and about 40 minutes later, I get a call saying repairs would be $365. Shocked I ask what happened to the price I was quoted ? Will told me thats per axle ! Had them put everything back together and went to pick it up. Got there and had the same conversation with Will. He repeated $129.95 per axle. Looking up on the price board, it shows brake job $129.95. No where did it say per axle. They may have good service, but I will never find out. I cant stand business that use deceptive practices. Have to give it one star in order to post this. Therefore I do not recommend this Midas store

I came in to get my oil changed and was greeted by Mark. He asked how my day was going and I gave him an earful about getting the a/c replaced in my house today. After hearing about the thousands of dollars I was going to spend this afternoon, he gave me a very big discount on the oil change. He also took care of some battery corrosion for free ($10 charge). As we waited, another employee noticed that my daughter was cuddled up under my cardigan (it was really cold). He raised the a/c for us, which was extremely kind since I know the cold air felt good to the guys that worked in the hot garage. The customer service is excellent at this store and I highly recommend it.
