I spend tons of money at this specific Ulta and i go almost every week to every other week. I bought several things one day and when i tried them out over the week i absolutely hated what i bought they didnt work for my face, so i brought them back and i had the blonde manager and she was HORRIBLE! she didnt even look at me when she came up grabbed my receipt and asked while circling things on my receipt if i used the items and i honestly answered yes and she started shaking her head at my answer and then she realized i was exchanging and just started grabbing random items that someone left on the counter by the register and when i tried to tell her to STOP scanning the items that were not mine she was so busy being rude she didnt hear me so after she was done i told her those arnt mine and she angrily took them off and then grabbed the ones i had in my hand after this whole transaction i was shocked and never want to come and have to deal with her again! i felt punished for trying something and returning it and now im scared to bring something back.

I work in the hair and retail industry and I have to say I was appalled at the customer service at this location. I came in to purchase make-up and the two employees that were staffed in the area spent the first 15 minutes I was looking at the display directly in front of them gabbing about their boyfriends and relationships without even an acknowledgement of my presence. I left the area and came back to the exact same spot and continued looking for another 10 and yet again they did not even glance at me. Obviously if I have looked in one area for 30 minutes its very likely I have a question but the way they were acting I felt like I was the one imposing by trying to get assistance. Needless to say they never did help me except when I made a sound in disgust on my way out and then one of the girls mumbled a "are you doing ok maam". I did not and will not purchase items from this particular store.

I booked an appointment with one of their hairstylists online not expecting that my hair will need more than an hour and a half to get done with. When I explained to the hair stylist what I wanted and asked her about her opinion , instead of asking me more questions she rolled her eyes and said that she doesnt have time for that. She referred me to another Ulta salon which was miles away and the stylist there was going to be free after more than an hour. She clearly didnt want to work on my hair for some reason although I have straight hair and it is easy to work with. I believed what she said about needing long time to finish so I drove to the other salon. Guess what?! It took the hairstylist there exactly 75 minutes to give me the result I wanted. And she was very nice. This salon has lost me as a customer!! And I wont be recommending it to other people either!

This has always been my go to cosmetic store from when I first started using name brand makeup. It has its bad days, but the associates are wonderful. Yesterday I had a consultation with an urban decay representative set up at the store. Id bought multiple UD products after the associate gave me a makeover with the products. I got home, opened my foundation and saw that it has exploded inside of the container. It was all over the sides and inside of the cap. I went today to exchange it and they didnt have my shade. The manager checked the back and sadly they didnt have any in the back either. They apologized for the inconvenience and said that if I call on Friday when they get their shipment they will reserve it for me. The cashier also voluntarily gave me two free samples for my trouble. They will always have my patronage :)

Awful customer service. Walked in today and was completely ignored, but employees acknowledged "rich" looking customers. Wow, Im sorry I just got off work, barely had time to do my very minimal make-up, and was tired as hell. I still was hoping to drop a hefty sum to treat myself and get a couple gifts for family... No. I walked out, frustrated after wandering around trying to look for things and being ignored or told "its on that side of the store." hey "beauty advisors," maybe you shouldnt ignore people just because their makeup is worn off and they dont look like they have money. Also, their own makeup was so cakey it was awful! Save your money, buy directly from places online. Screw this Ulta.

As the reviews show, you either love or hate this place. I LOVE the product selection they have! And for the most part the staff is great! Their selection of high end makeup is not as large as Sephoras, but its easier to get out of there without spending your entire paycheck which I really appreciate. Heres the catch, one of the managers is EXTREMELY abrasive and talks down to the customers. This person makes shopping at this location uncomfortable and unpleasant. I still stop in occasionally to pick up some of the Ulta exclusive sets that they offer, but if youre shopping for high end makeup and want to always have an awesome experience I recommend going to Sephora.

I purchase majority of my cosmetics from CVS, Macys, Sephora and Nordstrom before Ulta came to Richmond. My first many visits to the Broad Street location were pleasant until recently I had to return some products. I purchased many products that were under the InStyle Best Beauty Buys list and I never tried them before, some of them just didnt workout. I abide by Ulta return policy of 60 days. The manager was acting pretty much like a RETURNS POLICE!!!!! In my opinion, she either has personal issues to deal with or just enjoys abusing her power. I was shocked by her behavior!!!! This company has lost a customer.

Was up from South Carolina and was looking forward to going to this location to get 2 products Ive been dying to buy. Walk in, no greeting.... no help in finding what I needed. After walking around the store helplessly, someone asked if I needed help, I asked her about 2 products and she told me it was in the other side of the store. Which was somewhat helpful, but not very much. I continued looking and looking. Finally found 1 product and decided that I didnt need it that bad. Walked out and wont come back again to this location. Very disappointed, especially since I manage a retail store in SC.

Bad haircut... I gave it a day then called to have it fixed. The salon mgr was out for two weeks getting married, and the store mgr wouldnt help me. My only option was to have the original unpleasant stylist have another hack at it. She said she couldnt believe Id had such bad service because the stylist who gave me the bad haircut cuts her hair. That seems like an inappropriate mgr/employee relationship to me. She also said that it isnt unreasonable for stylists to walk away while cutting your hair (Multiple times!!!) to help other customers. Pay more, go somewhere else!
