I took my car there because the check engine light was on. According to the radio ads, a check-engine visit was free of charge. Granted, my car hadnt had a tune-up in awhile, and probably needed SOME of the close to $600.00 dollars in maintenance services that I ended up paying for; but it needed to be repaired first and foremost. THE VERY NEXT DAY, after picking my car up, the check-engine light turned back on AND the heat suddenly stopped working (the day before record-breaking snow falls and low temperatures, I might add). When I called to complain, the representative was extremely condescending--"let me explain this nice and slowly in terms you can understand"--and patronizing; and not the least sympathetic or accountable for his role in the problem. Ironically, when I brought my car back in to be hooked up to their computers, another woman was being patronized by their representative, Tim, for the same reason...her car was worse off AFTER they serviced it than before. Instead of repairing what was wrong with my car, I got optional maintenance service. After yet another hook up to their computer, its been discovered that I have further problems that will cost...yep, you guessed it...close to $600.00 AGAIN; not including what it will cost to service my heater that worked until they "repaired". So, some final thoughts for AAMCO: I only have one car and Im a single mother of two, working full-time...my children and I have been shivering in a cold car courtesy of your "repairs". And for Tim: Even though Im a woman and not a car mechanic; the amount of schooling Ive had and my own common sense can allow me to understand the concepts you need to discuss with me without you having to find terms I can "understand". Steer clear of this money pit.

INDREDIBLE is the best way to describe this facility. With a daughter 150 miles away from home, her car battery dies, Auto Zone sells her an alternator and sends her 10 miles down the street to some shop called "Chucks" after 20 minutes of scary driving ( car wont go over 10 mph and she is lost), I googled "best auto shop in Harrisburg" and AAMCO comes up, I tell my daughter - turn around and if the car will make it go here. In the meantime I call them explaining the situation. Tom answered the phone as could tell me ( 2 hours from my child) was pretty stressed. He calmly took my name, my daughters name and said in a very caring way , " Michelle, dont worry, we will take care of her and her car when she gets here" Music to a mothers ears. They diagnosed the problem ( alternator is toast) within minutes, gave me a price, and 2 hours later she was back on the road. The professionalism, caring of their customers and good quality work at a reasonable price, is exactly what you will get here, I would 1000 times recommend this facility , especially to parents who have kids at JMU - Tom and his crew will take car of them as if it was their own kid and car. One Happy Customer !!

I took my truck in for brake service after reading the good reviews on here about the shop. After dropping my truck off for the day and being told I could pick it up late afternoon, my wife ran me back in just before closing only to be told, "Sorry, we just couldnt get to your vehicle today. You need to bring it back." No heads-up phone call to avoid the extra trip. So not only did I not get any service, but it cost me gas in both my vehicles to drive there for nothing. I did actually go back, thinking that everybody screws up sometimes, but they wouldnt give me anything off my bill for the extra running. They only pointed me to a coupon on their site that I couldve used anyway. I got the work done only because we were taking the vehicle on vacation that weekend and was out of time to find someone else. They also tried to hard sell me on replacement of several smaller things on the truck that I know were fine (like being told my wipers were torn and flaccid...yes, flaccid; despite them NOT being torn and almost new). Well be looking elsewhere from now on.

These people are as crazy as their prices. I took my Bronco here once to check the brakes and the staff was fighting because a technician had forgotten to replace the transmission on a vehicle before the owner was called to pick it up. The manager started throwing things and screaming and hit one of the employees. They wanted $700 in labor to replace my brakes, so I did it myself for $80. Went back again to get an inspection and they were gossiping about clients and making racist remarks. One technician made fun of someone for working for a black man. I couldnt believe what they were saying in front of me. They charged me $20 to replace a light to pass inspection and said my car was leaking oil. Gave me an estimate for $1500 in repairs including replacing brake fluid and power steering fluid. I said no, got an oil change, and ended up paying almost $90 anyway. These people are crazy and charge way too much for labor. Got my car home and it hasnt leaked oil since. Funny!

WARNING: DO NOT GO HERE. Ive been scammed by these guys not once, but TWICE. I took my car in for an oil change and they told me my timing belt needed to be replaced. I went ahead and got it replaced and went on my way. I later hired them to do a different repair. I paid over 1000 dollars to them for this repair and they took a week longer than they originally told me. My car did not improve and I took it to Toyota. Turns out they never repaired anything. All the old parts were still in my car and they completely lied to me. I paid them 1000 dollars to hold my car at their shop for a week. I got this issue fixed by Toyota. About a year after this, my timing belt ripped off. Found out they incorrectly installed the belt. They are lucky I dont want to sue. Their corporate headquarters will be hearing from me.

My brake line recently rusted through and I ended up deciding to take my car to Aamco to get it fixed. Really friendly customer service, relatively quick repair (1 week), and reasonable pricing... however, when I dropped my car off I made sure to check how much gas I had (just below a quarter tank), and when I first got in when I went to pick it up, it was still at a quarter tank and I thought I was silly to check it to begin with. Turn on my car and the needle instantly dropped to empty... when I contacted them to ask what their excuse would be, I was told simply "I dont know what to tell you, we only drove it for a test drive." .... Not blaming the owner, but obviously someone took my gas and while its only a few gallons, the fact remains that my gas was STOLEN from my car one way or the other

Although the team was friendly and very accommodating, I would NOT recommend AAMCO to anyone hoping to have their car up and running. You would think that after spending $700 on new parts and labor you would expect to have a fully working car, but for me that was not the case. I went in to have my car inspected, two weeks later it breaks down. Go in to have it fixed, pay $700, and a week later it breaks down again(!) Once again, the customer service was incredible, but customer service doesnt make up for the fact that they were unable to accurately diagnose the problem. Additionally, after looking under the hood myself after the second break down, I noticed a cable was completely disconnected, Im no expert on cars, but that just seems like poor workmanship. Again, nice people and nice owners.
