I dont understand the 1 star at all, I have been a client for years and continue to be impressed by Ms. Cameron. Not only is she professional, she does quality work. She also supports the community and young people (See attached article from Progress Index 2010). My Motto s are YOU cant please everybody and YOU get what you pay for. That is unless Shirley Cameron, owner of Naturally Yours Hair Salon, is your boss. If so, your summer job might just turn into a love for hair styling, a passion for learning all the tricks of the trade, and a desire to begin a career in the business. Three years ago, Pamela Whitehead encouraged her daughter, Jasmin Johnson, to work a summer job at Naturally Yours Hair Salon. "Jasmin fought it all the way," Whitehead said. "She just cleaned the shop at first, but the next day we couldnt keep her from the shop." Whitehead met Cameron as a referral many years ago before she owned her own shop and has followed her to three different salons to have her hair styled. While getting her hair done one day, Cameron suggested Whitehead bring her daughter to the salon to work a couple hours one or two days a week during the summer. Johnson quickly took an interest in learning about braiding and hair styling. "She stayed at the salon after school just to be around the stylists and learn," Whitehead said. Cameron took Johnson on as a student and encouraged her to get an education in styling hair through the Natural Hair Care program. Through this program and much guidance and encouragement by Cameron, Johnson is now a 17-year-old licensed cosmetologist and has a license in braiding. "The goal is to get young people licensed," Cameron said. "I have them come in the salon to pay their way to go through the program and get an education." Cameron encourages youth to stay on the right path toward a continued education. She says that all you need to do is guide young people and push them in the right direction. Let them grab on to something they enjoy, "She has done a lot for me by especially in showing me the basics," Johnson said. "Most older people dont want to help the younger people who dont have experience, and she was really patient and wanted me to succeed." Cameron said more than 12 girls have gone through the program. Three of them are entrepreneurs and now run their own businesses. "Ms. Cameron opens the door of opportunity for anyone who wants to learn and she is willing to help and support them," Whitehead said. "It is so wonderful of her. I am so thankful." Cameron said Johnson inspired her to co-host a Jan 5. job fair at Imani Hair Design to encourage girls to sign up for the Natural Hair Care program. Thirteen applicants came to the salon and expressed interest in learning the skills.

Recently I found this hair salon on the web while trying to find a salon that specialized in natural hair. After looking up the salon reviews on google and other websites I decided to set my appointment ( DONT BE FOOLED !! It seems to me these reviews are false, made up and incorrect). Upon arriving to the salon I spoke with not only the beautician(Tinesha) , but the actual salon owner(Shirley). I told both ladies exactly how I wanted my hair, simply highlighted. They both assured me they do it. After sitting in this shop for over two hours majority with dye in my hair ,even 45 minutes or so under the dryer with dye, " To lift my hair since it wasnt changing", my results were TRAMACTIC. Soon as I saw my hair I burst in to TEARS. My hair was horrific. Not only did my hair color did NOT change , my curl patterned was RUINED and an immediate complete change in the texture of my hair to DRY and CURLLESS. Both Beautician and salon owner agreed that my hair was messed up and continued to ask me to come back in two weeks to have it corrected, which I declined being that they had just EXTIRPATED my HAIR.She refused to even give me my refund! Within the next two weeks sooooo much of my hair was breaking off. Directly in the middle of my head I have a huge breakage circle covering about 1/6 of my head and I am left with 2 inches of length verses 8 inches throughout the rest of my hair.My 3 years of Natural growth out the window, thanks to IGNORENCE and CARELESSNESS. My hair has really SUFFERED due to Naturally Yours Salon mistakes. DONT GO HERE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE WORRY AND SAVE YOUR BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!!!

I love the quality of service the staff provides, no waiting, you walk in and your right in the chair; they give YOU and only YOU their undivided attention, they are not running from chair to chair! The staff uses only natural products throughout the entire shop and they promote healthy hair and scalp and hair growth. The owner supports her community and gives back in abundance!! I travel from Charlotte, N.C. to get my hair care service, try them you wont be disappointed
