Where to start? I had been twice to see Jack. The first time, my hair was about shoulder length and just needed a trim along with root touch ups. Pretty simple and it turned out fine. The second time I went I wanted to cut my hair mch shorter into a "pob". I have had this cut before, so I know what I want and I know how it should look. He gave me a bob. I had to tell him that the back needed to be shorter, that I want the A-line cut. He argued with me that it wont look right because I have a round face. I have a square face, first off, and I told him Ive had the cut before, it know what its supposed to look like. After he trimmed it down, the (assistant?) girl began blow drying. It was a little bit to long in the back so I asked him to go another half inch shorter. He got huffy with me and began chopping EVERYWHERE. I ended up with the haircut that "T" from TLC had back in the day, where the front was super long, and the back was super short. Great. After I went home, 150 bucks poorer plus tips for three different people (shampoo, his assistant and him), I ended up cutting the front shorter myself so I wouldnt have to go back and deal with Jack. The next day I realized that I wasnt happy with the shade of blonde he had put in. It was more of a yellow then blonde. When I called, he argued with me that thats as blonde as he can go without it turning white. Then he actually said "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" And I said "FIX IT!". He told me if I came down right away he could squeeze me in before he left for the day. Before I could say thank you, he had hung up on me. When I got there he argued with me that he couldnt go any lighter because then it would be white. Now, Ive been getting my hair highlighed blonde for years. YEARS. And Ive had super platinum blonde highlights before. This isnt my first rodeo, to say the least. I actually got into an arguement with him in the salon about the color of highlights that I wanted, to the point where people were starting to stare at us. He ended up, saying "you want blonde, Ill give you blonde" and stormed off to make the color. He didnt say another word the entire time he was doing my hair. After my hair was shampood, the girl that was blowdrying my hair actually said (out of his earshot, of course) "I like it better this color." Duh. For the price I paid, I should NOT have to argue with the sylist about what I want. If I want a blue bowl cut, the stylist better give me a blue bowl cut. I will NOT go back to Frizzles and I would NEVER reccomend Jack. Jack-the-Wack, as someone else had noted.... Frizzles has lost my business. Thats a fact.

I travel to DC for business every week so I decided to find a place there to do my hair. It had been 7 years since I had let anyone touch my hair - since I had my husband shave it all off after it started falling out due to my chemo treatments. Needless to say I was a bit nervous. I had read the reviews that gave it high praise and it was just down the street from my office so I decided to give it a try. When I stopped in to make my appointment I asked to talk to the hair stylist about what I wanted done. I asked for Dawn, She had received high praise for knowing how to cut naturally curly hair. She and I sat and talked for about 10 minutes on what I wanted - hair cut, color, eye brows done, etc. When I came in for my appointment she took me over to the color bar and we talked a bit more about the color. I was currently a boring brown (home coloring job) and I wanted more of a reddish color. I also wanted something extra - a bit of flash. I told her I wanted something to match my personality. She said she would give me some highlights. She proceeded to cut my hair, then did the coloring. I sat under the heater thing for a bit then I had a wash out. She took me over to her chair and I saw the end result. At first I was surprised - I could see the red color (which I liked) but I couldnt really see the highlights. She started blow drying and styling my hair. We talked about my typical hair routine - wash, towel dry and go. She showed me how to do some things with it that didnt take a lot of time and gave great results. When she was finished drying and styling my hair I was almost in tears - it was PERFECT!!!! It was ME. The highlights were a very light red/blond in the curls that frame my face. The cut was perfect. It didnt look like she took much off but my hair has a wonderful shape now and it feels lighter. I would 110% recommend Dawn to anyone that has curly hair and wants someone that KNOWS how to cut it and style it. She isnt much for small talk but I wasnt much in the mood for any so that was good with me. I had a lady named Yvette do my eyebrows and upper lip and she was great. Very outgoing and very good at what she does. I had a cut, full color with highlights, blow dry and style, eyebrow and upper lip wax and bought shampoo, conditioner and a styling mousse that Dawn recommended for a total of $260. It was worth it!! I couldnt be happier with my hair - the cut, color and the style she gave me. In fact, I was so happy with the style I went out and bought my FIRST hair dryer right after I flew home to WI.

Terrible experience with both locations. I attempted to try the Springfield location after a bad experience with a stylist at the Alexandria location. I booked with a stylist Ive heard great things about. She was busy so I had to book a month out. I attempted to go to my appointment today and was told when I arrived she no longer works there and her last day was Wednesday (2 days ago). I never received a call despite the Manager reporting her staff called me and left a message--false, I never received a call Wednesday. I showed her my call log to confirm this. I received a call this morning, but no voicemail left so I went to my appointment figuring they were just calling to confirm. I took off work today for this appointment and Ive been waiting a month to get my hair fixed from the previous Frizzles stylist messing it up. It seems management needs to do a better job of training their receptionists as it was known for awhile she was leaving and the appointment shouldnt have been scheduled to begin with. And not to mention, their staff is very dishonest to their management saying they called a customer when in fact they didnt. During the whole interaction the young girl behind the counter was smiling at me in a mocking way. Very disrespectful, but unfortunately the Managers back was to her so she didnt witness it and truthfully I didnt feel like picking that battle by calling her on her rude behavior. I didnt trust anyone at that salon to touch my hair so I left. The Manager offered me a free product, which was nice, but I am still upset at this terrible experience with both locations. I am going to Jon David tomorrow and wont be going back to this business. Ive never in my almost 30 years ever had a bad experience with a hair salon. I am not a difficult customer and pretty easy to please so that speaks volumes. Stay away!
