Paul Rocks!. Where do I start? I am SOOO pleased with my FIRST Paul Michaels experience. I recently moved here from Michigan where the same girl had been doing my hair for 20 years so I was VERY nervous about having to find someone I trusted. I was in desperate need of a haircut and color from one that had definitely run its course, it had been roughly 5 months!!! I read a few reviews, narrowed it down to 5 places, picked up the phone and decided I would go to the first place that could at least get me in for a consultation-today. I gave the receptionist a brief history, explained my apprehension and made one request: a senior or master stylist, and she set up a consultation with Paul. I hung up and instantly felt queasy, I was stepping out of my "comfort zone" ... I showed up about 10 minutes early and was almost immediately introduced to Paul. He sat me down, LISTENED to me and offered ideas, and the best part about it was that I was comfortable with him AND he happened to have a cancellation later that day! He did an OUTSTANDING job, the color is fabulous, and the cut was exactly what my hair needed. I cant believe I lucked out on the first try. I think I may have found the guy who will be doing my hair for the next 20 years. Parking was easy, salon was fun & upbeat, staff was friendly, great selection of product. Thanks again Paul! :)

After reading lots of reviews, I decided to try Paul Michaels Salon. I am new to the area and had not had a haircut since November. This was one of the worst hair cuts Ive ever had. I went to Paul hoping for a new cut and style that wouldnt take any/much prep. He appeared disinterested and distracted while cutting my hair. He didnt seem to appreciate my needs and instead told me that the key to a good style was tons of product. In my opinion, the key to a good cut is that it looks good without loading up on the products. He took off a lot of length and put in chunky not well blended layers. When I left, my hair was so loaded with products I couldnt stand the smell of my hair and I looked like I had received a bad perm. I hoped that after I washed all of that crud out of my hair, the cut itself would be decent. That was not the case. Luckily, I can still sort of pull it back into a ponytail. However, the point of the haircut was so that I could do something other than put it in a ponytail. I cant even go somewhere else to fix it because he took off so much length. I just have to wait for it to grow again and try my luck somewhere else. I would not recommend Paul Michael to anyone.

Im very particular about my hair. The colorant the cut must be good. Ive lived in Chicago, Scottsdale and Miami, and have had outstanding stylists in each place. When I moved to the DC area, a place to which i had never been before, I hated that I would have to suffer through a cole of awful haircuts before I found a good stylist. I googled "best salons in Alexandria" and Paul Michaels popped up a couple of times, so I read the reviews. They all seemed good, so I made an appointment to see Erica, and much to my delight, this young woman did an OUTSTANDING job with both the cut and the color. My hair cut is a little difficult, and she pulled it off like shes been doing it for many years, when in fact shes been doing this for only four years. The place is nothing fancy, but its clean and recently redecorated. Everyone was professional and friendly, but best of all, I love what Erica did with my hair. Go. Really, go! You will not be disappointed.

I feel like I am at home when I am in Paul Michaels Salon– this salon has one of the best staff that makes you feel like you are having your hair done right in your home. The atmosphere is fantastic!!! I have lived in Alexandria for the past 10 years and for the past 4 years I have been getting my hair done by Paul. The other 6Y I have searched for stylist to only have my hair burned, shopped, and waited forever in the waiting room. I am SO HAPPY that I have found a hairstylist that listens what I need to be done to my hair and gives me his opinion what looks good and what doesnt. I get highlights/color every 8weeks and my hair is perfectly healthy. I always receive compliments about my hair and this makes me feel good about my self. I really dont know why people would go anywhere else to get their hair done. Paul Michaels is the best...Keep up the good work :))))))

I Was reffered here by a coworker , I have to say the salon was a bit off the beaten path for me , but well worth it. I had made an appointment with Paul, everyone was very friendly from the moment I walked in. I met with Paul and we discussed what I wanted , he gave me a few suggestions, that I decided to go with, He is very knowledgeable , I have been haveing my hair highlighted for years at another salon, and my hair was always dry and brittle whenever I left, Paul explained to me that it was not necessary to highlight the whole strand of hair everytime, and only highlight the new growth, so I went with what he said and I have to say my hair feltand looked great, the cut he suggested was very refreshing I needed it , I loved my hair, I will be back and I would recommend this salon.

Best Color and Style ! I was getting ready for a much-needed Vegas trip and needed a new look! I brought a magazine photo to Paul, we exchanged some ideas of what will and won’t work for me and he went to work with it. I was a little nervous as always, but was beaming when my hair came out absolutely gorgeous! I went from brown hair to golden glowing locks with additional glossy sleek blonde highlights. Not to mention the blow dry & style on my very course hair lasted throughout 5 days! Paul is professional; he’s friendly and fun at the same time! He is definitely someone you look forward to visiting for great hair + conversation! :)

Deana has been doing my hair for the past few years (2-3) and I LOVE her work! I do not allow anyone else to do it. She has changed my hair for me trying out new things over the last few years and just recently she gave me the best cut I have ever had! She took about 6-7 inches off and gave me a short bob. Shed been telling me short would look great and I doubted it, then she did the cut and WOW!!! I have never been so complimented. She recently changed my highlights as well to go a bit lighter and once again she did a fab job. I would for sure recommend Paul Michaels hair salon and have to many friends and co-workers.

Paul Michael Is The BEST!!! – Paul rocks! As a new resident to the DC area, I had to hunt around to find a place that could cut short hair well. Went through several places, Its amazing how many people dont have experience in cutting short hair and to top it off most people want to use a round brush on short hair when there finished. Makes you look about 20 years older.... To all stylist out there put the brush down!!!! Absolutely loved my haircut from Paul been with him for quite awhile and wouldnt go anywhere else!!! If your looking for really updated and edgy cut hes your guy!!!
