I had the worst experience ever. I returned my car back to them this past Monday because I wanted them to correct the problem that was suppose to have been fixed a little over a month ago or to see was it something else causing the problem. I was told I would know something Tues. I called back Tuesday, I was told he didnt have the report yet. I called back Wed. I called back Wed no report yet. I asked, was the engine disassembled yet, he said yes, and if I take it now I would do more damage to the car. He said he would know something by Thurs. Called back Thurs, no report yet. I was told I would be called back Fri. No call back on Fri so I called him. When I called back I was told he was just handed the report on my car and he I would call me back at 5:00pm. No call back, so I called back at 5:45 pm. All I got was a voicemail that wasnt set up to leave a message. I dropped by there Sat morning asking for the report & my car. He had no report. They never looked at my engine. All he could say was he only had one mechanic and that he had cars out there longer than mine had been out there. I told him, he shouldve told me he had too many cars at this time and couldnt work on mine. I wouldve took my car somewhere else. The part that gets me is that I was lied to. When I asked "Was my engine disassemble"? His reply was yes. I wanted to pick up my car on Wed but I was lied to. I thought they were working on the problem. This situation has caused me so much stress and frustration. Please check the reports on the Better Business Bureau It may be 3.8 online but it rates an F with the BBB.

****Buyer Beware****They come off as being so helpful, ITS A SHAM!!! I just got my car towed there--by the way they offered the tow if I got services done there, and now Im scared of what the outcome is going to be because of the PREVIOUS REVIEWS. I had already consulted with a mechanic, they were too busy to do the work to my car. So I know what is wrong with the car and they are telling me I need a TRANSMISSION, thats not what it is. The guy at IR A&T told me that they had to take my transmission out for $489, to test it, I thought there was a machine for that and it normally costs $90. Now, when they see my number in caller ID, they dont answer the phone. Theyve had my car for 4 days. I guess they figure the longer they hold it, the greater the chance of them doing the work, OR THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Now that I see that they are potentially being dishonest, I am going with a shop a mechanic friend recommended. IR A&T lost. To protect myself I have consulted with an attorney, in case they try to sabotage my car or my parts to my "tranny" as they called it. I should have gone to the shop that my mechanic friend advised, and that shop had rave reviews, but I was being fast. BY THE WAY, this is the end of the 4th day and IR A&T still have not contacted me. *********Update, I paid these people $587, which included the "free towing" and still did not get the clear explanation as to what was wrong with the transmission*******

This repair shop has done a horrible job so far with my vehicle...notice I did say so far. From my initial visit until now it has been 6 WEEKS (4 weeks since they initially gave the car back and said it was good to go) and my vehicle is doing the same thing. My transmission was not functioning properly so I figured that a TRANSMISSION shop would be able to deal with it properly. At first the customer service was average; after they received my payment in full the customer service was non-existent. They wouldnt call to give status updates on my vehicle; I had to call in. The excuse was that they were so busy that they didnt call anyone...what kind of customer service is that? After spending nearly $2k on a transmission rebuild they are now saying its a sensor thats not part of the trans but rather the engine thats causing it to not function properly. I cant begin to communicate how much I REGRET taking my business to this establishment. Im military and figured that since the owner is a military dependent that they would be more helpful. Upon calling to meet at the shop, he was not willing to hear my side of the story, but simply saying that he had spoken with the mechanic already. If you are looking for a place for your family vehicle, fleet, or used car inventory to stay up to snuff on your maintenance with DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS.

So this last storm I ended up going through some deep water on my way home from work (I know, I shouldnt have). I ended up getting a winding noise every time the clutch was pressed in. I took my car up to Indian River Auto and Trans. I brought my car in, told the guy at the front desk what was happening and he seemed to know right away what it was. I was heading out of town for a week and he said theyd take care of the car for me. Well come to find out, with their help, I filed a claim through insurance and had the clutch assembly replaced. The whole time I was out of town they kept in contact with me and my insurance company. They waited for the insurance adjuster to come out before taking anything a part, they looked over the clutch assembly with the adjuster and came to terms. The clutch assembly was diagnosed properly from the beginning when I came in. The part was ordered and my vehicle was ready the following day. They kept the car for me while I was out of town at no additional charge. The new clutch assembly works great as expected and I couldnt be happier with the job they did.

Highly disappointed in this store. I have never dealt with such a low level of professionalism. In a fix, I decided to go to this shop. I walk in around 10 a.m. on a Saturday and the guy at the desk says itll be about two hours before a diagnosis. I never received a call that day and when I called the shop was closed. Went in on Monday, they attempted to give me a $1,300 list of things needed to be repaired and I instructed them just to fix the one part, which was just a swap. It took until after 5 p.m. to get my car back. Unfortunately, there is still an issue with my car but my experience here was so poor that I will be taking my vehicle to another business with better reviews. The service was extremely unprofessional as my car was held without being informed that it was going to be. I asked for a diagnosis on a problem and instead got a giant list of problems. I never plan on returning to this place even though I got a "free oil change" card. I wish I would have read the reviews before coming here.

Indian River Auto & Transmission Repair is a grade A+ repair shop that makes your car their number one priority once it is in their care. I have visited the shop on multiple occasions for major and minor repairs and fixes. Though I do recommend that people set up time slots to prepare the crew that you are coming because they are constantly busy and on the move. The prices are reasonable and the overall crew is friendly and charming! I love this repair shop, and have recommended them to several of my neighbors. Of all the shops in Virginia Beach that I have been to they are the most respectful and never try to "get over" on their customers.
