When a real estate agent treats a military wife in a manner that put her in tears and then blames her because he got emotional isnt a real estate agent youd want to use. This is the experience we had with Carlos Cantos. He was so disrespectful to my wife she was in tears and we had to break all communications except for certified mail because of the level of abuse. Of course he was so disrespectful with this request that he continued to disregard all requests for proper communication. He sent text messages, emails and letters to our old house knowing we had asked him to send letters to our new house through return receipt so we could keep track of his constantly changing requirements for our move out. If you want to purchase a house in Hampton Roads this isnt the Real Estate agency you should use. We had rented a house from Carlos September 2012 and didnt have any problems until we let him know in April 2014 that we had purchased a home and were going to be moving in June. This is when he became abusive and demanding. He was extremely upset that we didnt use him as a real estate agent. Sorry, we didnt trust you because of your over bearing, know-it-all conversations and over talking our questions. The nightmare started when we tried to turn over the house, he made my wife cry and then blamed her because he became emotional. Really, a former Marine became emotional and made my wife cry. Great way to take accountability, say your sorry while blaming the customer. We originally had a written agreement to vacate the house and pay a months rent so they could fix up and renovate parts of the house. We figured that was a far offer because we were terminating the lease about two months early. If only it was that simple. He wanted to charge for the months rent, do the repairs and then move a family in during the renovation month...its called double rent and illegal. When we bulked at that idea he became more abusive called us vandals and proceeded to tell us we needed to turn over the house and pay a two month penalty for leaving early. Instead of playing his games we bulked and kept the house until the end of the lease. We had professional carpet cleaners come in and clean the carpet (have receipt), professional lawn service (have receipt) and yet he is still trying to rob us of money. I honestly dont know how this guy has kept his job. If he was representing my company I would be out of business. I forgot to mention that he found a penny and a hair on the carpet so he had to charge additional cleaning fees, and after living in a house with children for two years wear and tear are not allowed because he wants to charge us to repaint the inside of the house. We have a rental property in GA and guess what when you have a rental property you repaint when tenants move out. Its only common sense. But hey...maybe someone that makes women cry and blame them doesnt have much respect for customers, women or military spouses. I guess now you really know why we never used you as a real estate agent. We thought you were a little shady and your actions have only shown your true colors as a real estate agent.

Susan jubilee who works out of this office and her team seem helpful and kind at first but do not be fooled. These people are an absolute nightmare to work with. Everything is fine when you are paying them your money but the minute you decide to move out they turn nasty. They tried to trick us into replacing years old carpet for over a thousand dollars when ultimately having the carpet cleaned as agreed upon in lease was sufficient. They also requested we have the house professionally cleaned which we did and we provided a receipt for and then the security deposit came back we were charged for having the house professionally cleaned again. On top of that we were charged for putting a crack in a tub that was barely used and certainly not in such a way as to damage it. We were charged hundreds of dollars for pine straw removal and pressure washing a house that we continued drive to even after moving out of to sweep the pine straw from on top of the roof and around the grounds upon Susans request. We also pressure washed it before handing over the keys. This whole lot is retaliation for not being able to con us into replacing carpet that was years old and due for replacement anyhow. When I asked about this carpet Susan accidentally called me back and asked me if I knew how old the carpet was because apparently I thought I was a "lawyer" when I told her it was still me on the phone she hung up on me. She is not a nice woman. Doing the right thing to clean up the house did me no good. Do not rent or buy from her or her team. Save yourself the trouble.

Steve Doll and Team the worst possible property management company in existence!!! They are glorified rent collectors. The only thing that they manage is if an appliance happens to die they will replace it (but it is rare for an appliance to die in a rental). With this company there is no such thing as "normal wear and tear"...the tenant is ultimately responsible for ensuring the property is in full working condition before they move out...isnt this the responsibility of the property management company? Or am I mistaken? If you ever want to contact them regarding rent ALWAYS CALL! Do not send an email. They purposely wait until the grace period has passed before they contact you again and tell you that now you owe them more money because you didnt contact them in a timely manner. STEVE DOLL and TEAM are rude and unprofessional. For your own sanity and peace of mind DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY. Tenants are not allowed to have expectations with this company. Their way is always the right way (which happens to be the wrong way in my opinion). Steve Doll threatened to call his attorney on me because I was attempting to pay my rent...does that make any sense? This company is bad news and you pay so much money for absolutely no perks. If they pulled a weed or two I would understand but they do absolutely nothing but collect the rent. Needless to say I am not a fan and it is my mission to spread the word on how this company does business.

I cannot say enough positive things about the Dunbar team at REMAX Alliance. I am currently renting a townhome in VA beach and have been there since May. I am a military member, and was trying to get a quick turn around after returning from deployment and canceling my apartment lease for a larger home. After doing some research online, I decided to look into a few homes represented by the Dunbars. After calling and leaving a message, they promptly returned my call and set up an appointment for the following day to look at two rental properties. They were more than willing to work with my work schedule and offered to show the properties on a Saturday morning. Mr. Dunbar was not only on time for the appointments, but he was more than willing to answer every question we had, and gave us all the time we needed to walk through the townhomes on our own. I felt little to no pressure to rent, and I really felt they were there to help me locate the best possible rental for what I was looking for. I quickly turned in an application and a security deposit. Even after a little hiccup with my 1st choice property, I was able to settle on my 2nd choice (which in hindsight was a better choice anyway!). I couldnt be happier with the experiences Ive had with the Dunbars and RE/MAX Alliance. Would recommend them (and already have) to anyone renting in Virginia Beach!
