A problem that ended well. Early this year I took my old 72 Dodge pickup in to VT&AC for some TLC. This included hose and belt replacement, radiator flush, tune up, and replaced some old gaskets. They called and said I needed a new brake master cylinder. They did the work and shortly there after, I started to have some brake dragging problems when the truck warmed up. I took it back twice for them to figure out. They said the problem was not with the master cylinder and I should take the truck back to the brake shop that had replaced the brakes and wheel cylinders 6 months earlier. I did and they discovered in about 10 minutes that the wrong master cylinder had been installed. The VT&AC tech did not notice the minor visual difference between a master cylinder intended for manual brakes and one that was intended for power brakes. To be fair, this truck was 20 years old when the technician was born so this was an oddball case. I had the master cylinder replaced by the first brake shop and the truck works great now. I met with David at VT&AC about the matter. He gave me a check that covered the full price for the other shop replacing the master cylinder. I cant ask for better than that. Ill keep using VT&AC for general service but Ill keep a closer eye on the oddball stuff. An honest and reputable service shop is hard to find. Village Transmission & Auto Clinic is honest.

Village Transmission has gone beyond a normal shop to stand behind their work, especially me being an out of town customer. I am fully impressed with their outstanding service, fair price, and trustworthy business practices. We live in Vancouver, WA and when our 97 Dodge Caravan transmission broke down on I-5 during a summer vacation trip in Edmonds leaving us stranded, Village helped arrange a tow to their shop and they replaced the transmission as well as repairing the brakes and drive shafts that they also found to be faulty upon inspection. A few months later, we had a couple of issues of seal leakage on the repaired transmission during the warranty period. After I called Village, they told me to bring it in and they would take a look and fix the issues. I was delighted that they stood behind their work, and they repaired the leak and components even though I am an out of town customer. This is normally not the case. My wife could not believe it as she has been "taken" by shady mechanics in the past who did not stand behind their work. I would recommend Village Transmissions to anyone local or from out of town who needs transmission or auto repairs. These mechanics have been up front and honest. I have been completely satisfied with their work. Thanks again. Posted by James Kess, Vancouver, WA 5 stars!!!!

Having grown up with a family of race car drivers and working in an auto shop for 4 years, I know how to recognize a quality auto repair shop. I normally do all my own maintenance but some things I leave up to the professionals with the tools for the job. Currently Im having Village Transmission rebuilding my front axle on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My budget is tight so Dave (one of the owners) has done everything he can to help me out. Dave had Mike, the mechanic doing the work, show me the parts that need replaced and help me find quality used parts to cut costs. He also R&R my wheel bearings for no charge other than parts, which I priced out and he’s supplying them below average. Other shops added one to three hours for the same service even though it only takes a few minutes to do during an axle rebuild. I had the work they suggested quoted out from two other reputable shops and Village Transmission is saving about $800.00 to $1000 just two weeks before Christmas. I know how to recognize ethical, honest and professional service and I give these guys my highest recommendations.

I came here a few times for diffrent fixes, like a broken headlight, and they were fixed quickly and at the estimate. So, when I needed the timing belt replaced I came here but their lack of communication about when it would be done and what was going on makes me hesitant to come back. I dropped it off on Monday and it was ready on Tuesday at 6:30pm, but only if I was willing to make the payment over the phone and had a spare key. I understand things happen, this time the tech broke the sproket to my crankshaft while trying to fix the oil "weep" but I wasnt called and told, I had to call them twice, once at 12:30pm when I was told it would be ready "later this afternoon" and again at 4:30pm when I was told they were just doing some tests, but not to come down yet. I opted for a Wednesday morning pick up so I could look at the bill. I did get a 10% labor discount but the sproket cost and labor pushed me out of the estimate. Im fine paying more for incidentals, I just would have liked to be kept in the loop about what was happening to my car and when I could actually pick it up.

I dont know about newer cars, but I brought in a 1967 mustang i had recently purchased. Tranny ran great except for a metallic sound. Village Transmission diagnosed poor install fixed it. cost me $1000. went to pick it up, now the transmission slips. Thier excuse...broken motor mount. Im no dummy but that makes no sense. but to be fair before i complained i fixed the motor mount, Amazingly still slips! Took it back, they put in some aftermarket tranny fix from a bottle which did little to help then offiered to charge me another $100 to change the fluid fix! The record reflects that originally I told them it might be better to just rebuild it when I first brought it in but they said we dont recommend rebuilding unless it definatly needs it. Well duh, after your initial fix for a grand, it still needs it. I am sure if i brought it back for the rebuild they would happily charge me another grand. signed... should gone to someone who works on older classics

I was having transmission issues with my classic Cadillac so I trusted these guys to take a look and do the necessary repairs. It turned out to be a huge mistake. They failed to follow any of the special care I asked for (it was printed on the service sheet/receipt which they apparently didnt/couldnt read) and they left it out of gas and with a dead battery in their salvage yard when I came to pick it up. In fact I had called about two hours before I arrived to pick it up and they said it would be ready to go in the main parking lot. It wasnt and it took me an extra hour to get it started after I arrived and paid the bill. One of the extra services I had them perform was a radiator flush, but they screwed that up as well and failed to add enough coolant to the overflow tank. $450 for a radiator flush and basic transmission service and it wasnt done correctly. These guys are a joke, if you care about your car I would advise you to take it elsewhere.
