This is, without question, the most incompetent and rude Post office Ive experienced. I am a small business owner and rely on shipping services for everything from raw materials, to client payments, to delivery of my final product. The Gig Harbor post office has lost my materials, theyve lost my money, theyve lost my product and have ultimately cost me thousands in lost time and materials in just the 12 years Ive had to use this office. This time, however, the Gig Harbor Post office just cost me $12,000.00 due to their ignorance and utter incompetence. I have been in business for 40 years...I build high-end guitars for professional musicians around the world. On June 5th, I went to the Gig Harbor post office to ship a $12k custom one-off instrument to a client in Switzerland. The postal worker at the Gig Harbor post office typed Swaziland into the system instead of Switzerland. In spite of all my shipping/customs paperwork and labeling stating otherwise, the guitar was shipped to Swaziland, South Africa where it was swiftly lost. Thanks Gig Harbor. Bad enough? Nope. Sue, the manager at Gig Harbor left me a message requesting I call her back...so I did. Apparently she forgot she asked me to call her because when she answered, she impatiently snaps, "Ive sent an email to Johannisberg, what else do you expect me to do?" I was completely startled by her sudden anger...and as i started to respond, Sue went into a rage and began yelling at me...the customer whose guitar she lost! Wow! Totally bizarre, unprofessional and emotionally unhinged behavior toward a client seeking help. I remained calm and pointed out that there had been USPS tracking updates, so I asked if the USPS still had control over the guitar. Sue snapped again, "Wrong!" with no further explanation. I told her I would now need to either spend a couple months rebuilding the guitar Gig Harbor lost in Africa, or get sued by my client for the value he paid. Sue then actually laughed at me and said, "Sued? For a parcel? Haha!" Not sued for a parcel, Sue...sued for the value of the guitar you lost. Clearly for Sue, the manager at Gig Harbor Post Office, the products we small businesses create to pay our bills and feed our families are nothing more than laughable "parcels" to her...and she actually gets paid to manage them. Scary. The Gig Harbor Post Office has consistently had the worst customer service ratings in the state for good reason. Lets put the Gig Harbor Post Office out of everyones misery and shut it down. I will be filing a case against the Gig Harbor Post Office with the Postal Regulatory Commission and Consumer Affairs US Postal Service and would like to hear from others who have similar experiences with this office.

I get a lot of packages sometimes and my delivery person is usually good, but when I have to go into the post office the service is generally average or worse. (Today they dont even have their phones on!) Heres my current example: 2 packages that dont need a signature say delivery attempted but failed two days ago, and check the slip left behind. Only there was no slip. Two nights ago I kept double checking for these packages that didnt come so Im sure of that. My postman always leaves packages at the door. I even have a bin to keep them dry in the rain. Yesterday morning way before mail ever comes (before 730am) one package was at my door. I figured the postman realized the mistake and came early to fix it and that the things had been combined into one box by Amazon. Great. That afternoon I met the postman at the door for another package and he handed me all the mail... Including the slip that said it was from the day before. (weird, but whatever) I still hadnt opened the 1st package so I didnt realize I was still missing one order. Now I have a HAND DELIVERED slip saying delivery attempted but failed. It doesnt say whether to pick up or not, but why would it be redelivered if I had just seen my guy face to face yesterday? So I call this morning 15 minutes AFTER 9am to hopefully clarify but get the recording saying to call back after 9am. *sigh*

I used to live on the property next door to my current address. Sometimes mail that is addressed to my old address will show up and they will deliver all of my mail for that day to the old address (which my neighbor does not tell me about, he just throws it away). This post office does not take any responsibility for its actions AT ALL. I have had many lost packages, packages stolen from my mailbox, packages "left on porch" while I was home with no knock/doorbell, packages with "attempted delivery" that were not attempted at all. I upgraded to a security mailbox since items were being stolen from my mailbox and, instead of delivering small boxes to my door, on some occasions they set them on top in plain sight or try to cram them into the small slot risking damage. When I try to dispute any issues, they either blow you off in some way or act like they are going to resolve the issue to get you out of the office and then absolutely nothing changes. So why do I give them 3 stars? I am just glad to have a Post Office in Gig Harbor at the very least; even considering the horrible customer service. It is nice to get my mail 70-80% of the time I guess. It is typically the Sat/Sun adjunct workers that have a 50% delivery follow through.

Why do I hate this place? It houses a number of mail carriers who cant seem to carry the mail to the right mailboxes... I have repeatedly had issues with the mail here. My mail carrier has misdelivered packages from friends, family, Amazon, and other retailers on too many occasions. By misdelivered, I mean: I never received the items from usps but did sometimes receive them from a friendly neighbor who lived 2 or 3 streets away. It happened so many times, I exchanged telephone numbers with these "neighbors" and have made arrangements to simply pick up my mail from them, since my complaints to usps have gone unanswered. I have never had this problem anywhere else I have lived before. Is it so hard to take a package that is clearly labeled and bring it to the correct address? No. The answer is, no. I would give this place zero stars if I could.

I Dont mind the line so much and the workers are always cheerful and helpful, but the delivery and sending of mail is horrible at this post office. At least 3 times a year I receive other peoples mail and have had several instances where packages and mail sent to me never arrived. I recently sent a packet of post cards out of country. Some made it, some were returned for unexplained reasons and some were returned for insufficient postage (even though I bought the stamps at this post office). I took all returned post cards to downtown Seattle and all were successfully sent and received without alteration. I dont expect perfection but I have little confidence in this facility. So much so that when shopping online I will chose a seller who ships UPS or FedEx rather than USPS. A shame really.

This post office is the worst I have ever dealt with. Their rude, lazy and incompetent. This is a perfect example of what happens when you deal with union workers. They cant be fired, so they dont care. Their drivers are constantly delivering my mail to other people. Their mangers are rude and unhelpful. I hope the post office goes bankrupt and all of these people lose their jobs. Get people in there who appichiate having a good job. Also make it illegal for any publicly funded entity to unionize. How do you do it? You just do it! Put it on the ballet. Id love to see unions , insurance companies and quite a few other entities that are destroying our county booted out.
