Maybe this is premature but... I only moved here 2 weeks ago, havent even stepped foot in this P.O. yet and already I am very frustrated with the employees here. I have called 4 times trying to determine which mailbox is mine in my community as we have mailbox "Clusters" located every 100 or so with no addresses on the front just a number. I have been polite and courteous to these people trying to get some information and nobody seems to be able to give me an answer to my questions and now act like I am bothering them that I keep asking the same question! Last night I was hung up on not once, not twice, but three times! I was in the middle of asking one last question when the phone went dead. Thinking he just didnt hear my last question I called back, twice, after that the phone was answered then left for about 5 seconds with no one answering on the other end and then was hung up, both times. Really frustrating when my wife who is very reserved and calm gets irate and already plans on calling the postmaster today :(. Unfortunately after reading the other reviews here I see this is not an isolated incident and I believe the postmaster need to get involved and shape this location up, maybe they are understaffed and over stressed I cant say at this point since I am brand new to the location but whatever this issue is should be resolved so we can bring up the rating of this Post office :).

It is not the postal workers fault that the lines are long - and yes, sometimes they are abysmally long. I like that they took out all the benches and have the line as it is now instead of taking numbers - and most of my interaction with the postal workers has been great. In addition, with the addition of the electronic mailing ability, if it is a simple transaction, that works well also. I do agree that the lines get far too long - but have been to the several other Olympia Post Offices because of convenience to the errands of the day - downtown, East Olympia, Tumwater, Westside, - and they all can get busy at certain times. However, Lacey is the closest and the one I go to most frequently. I have seen the postal workers there be far more patient and polite than might have been expected. In cases where they are not treated respectfully, they are human - and it would certainly whittle away at their cheerful nature.... My suggestion: Dont go when and if you are in a rush. Offer a smile instead of criticism. If you truly dont like this P O - then drive to a different one. But - do consider that if you are already annoyed when you approach the counter, they are people, and as people our most innate response is to respond to others as we are treated.... Just food for thought.

By Greg 12/2/2009 I have been in this place on more than one ocassion, Each time I go, I say I wont go back because of the wait and the way they treat their costumers. They act as if we are wasting there time. They are rude and slow. Maybe they would prefer Unemployment!!!! I was there on the 1st of December to us one of the $10.35 shipping boxes they have 2 to select from, they only had one size available . I used it for a Tin of almond roca. I put it in the box with packing. It deformed the box slightly but not enough to make a big differrence in the shipping box. I waited in line for about 20 min and finally got to the clerk whom does not even acknowlege me and tells me it is going to be almost 15 dollars to ship. The roca only weighed maybe a pound I said ,he said the box was bulged and that it was a sur charge. I said to him I would of use the other 10.35 box but they were out of them. He walk out front and sees they are gone and then goes to the back gets one and threw it up on the counter. He said nothing else.I took the box and left rather than repack and wait my turn in the long Line again !!!! I wont go again, I Took my package to th UPS store. I hope the Postal service goes belly up.

Worst post office Ive ever dealt with. My wife was awaiting shipment from China and the mail was undelivered. This has happened before at the Lacey and Tumwater post office and they were so helpful, took the tracking number and once I was even able to intercept the package before it was gone. I called twice to the Olympia office and was met with rudeness, the first thing I ask was if they could help me track down my package. She replied with the usps web address where I could do it myself and when I tried to explain my problem she cut me off and asked in a very angry tone "did you know you could do that"? I explain that I was aware of that method but that I needed further assistance with my package. She wouldnt even take my tracking number, I explained that this was coming from China and that Ive intercepted packages before, that I was willing to drive where ever to get the package. She just kept cutting me off and telling me to contact the sender. I am so disappointed with the like of care or concern, even if there was no way that she could help me get the package there was no need for that.

Every time I go in there are long lines and the employees are not the nicest. One particular day I went in to pick up a package. I had just received the notice so I knew I wasnt to late to pick it up. The guy went back to try to find my package and came back saying it had been sent back. This was a Friday and I stewed over it all weekend and decided that did not sound right so I went back and got a very nice young man who looked to see if the package had been scanned in and sure enough it had. It had NOT been shipped back as the other lazy ass guy had said. They took my name and number down after he said they couldnt find it. I waited a few days and the mail lady did deliver my package and she said it was my lucky day. No it would have been lucky if I could have picked it up on the day I went in. There was no reason for her not to leave it by the front door. She said she couldnt safely leave it. What a crock!!!!

Very disappointed to see all these horrible reviews because I have never had an issue while going into the post office. Then today I called in... Holy Crap. I have never been so upset. I have been trying to track a package online for a few weeks now and it has not been updated ( I know that it has nothing to do with these people who work at this office so I was not upset or rude with them at all) So after calling the seller they said it should of been here already and to call the post office that delivers to my home and see if maybe they knew where it could be. Called 4 times, finally get an answer and when I very politely tried explain to the women on the phone what had been going on she said "Its not my problem" and HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!!!! I am giving it an okay rating only because I have always had very good experience in this post office, but the customer service over the phone today was horrid.
