Sadly this gym has gone downhill. The interior is nice, always fairly clean and well maintained. My problem is with the trainers and the lack of organization. I have a signature membership and am supposed to have one training session per week. Unfortunately the attitude seems to be if you dont buy more sessions, then you dont get effective training. We (My wife and I) signed up last November, and everything started out great. My trainer was really pressuring me hard to buy more training sessions. Sales techniques were aggressive, but when we refused to buy more sessions we were both passed onto other trainers. My second trainer was very good. Had great routines and was very interactive while lifting weights. After 3 months she quit and went to another gym. I was told I would be contacted by the fitness director at the time to reschedule another trainer. 2 weeks later I had to find her in the gym and tell her I needed a new trainer. My third trainer was very underwhelming. Poor workouts, and seemed very distracted while we worked out. At this point I figured this is what I will be getting for not buying more training sessions. After 2 months she has also has left this gym. I received a text message from the gym saying I would be contacted by Matt the new fitness director. The next week I am randomly scheduled without with a fourth trainer. Our first workout, she canceled. I was rescheduled for the following Monday. I had to cancel the night before due to a family emergency. Then I didnt not hear from her again. I have made multiple attempts to contact the fitness director, and have not recieved any contact back. But at this point I honestly believe I can get better training from YouTube. I will unfortunately have to stick out the high gym dues, or pay a large penalty to downgrade my membership. Poor service, and disorganized scheduling with trainers. Word of advice, dont pay for their poor training.

I moved to Washington in April of 2017. I loved this gym at first. Everyone was really nice and it seemed like a good fit for me. After my 3 initial training sessions, I was excited to purchase a few more. I didnt have a job at the time so I couldnt do much but I signed up for 1 session a week for 12 weeks at 200 dollars. I read the agreement and no where did I personally see, nor was it made clear to me that the 200 dollars was per month. 1 week after I purchased my sessions, I found out my grandmother was sick and I had to come back to Arizona. My trainer assured me I could use my sessions when I got back but that I could not have a refund. That was a huge blow because i dont have a job at this time and cant afford to waist money. It turns out I wont be returning to Washington at all. I called to cancel my membership and they said I had to send a letter cancelling my membership, so I did. When I called a week later to check and see if my membership was cancelled, they said I had to mail it certified. They charged me for the month on the 11th which I expected but then on the 13th I got charged 200 more dollars. All of this money for services I am not even using. So, now after Ive spent 15 more dollars mailing my cancellation letter via certified mail, Emerald City Athletics employee called to say they did get my first letter but I cant cancel my membership unless I pay 200 more dollars. Totally 635 dollars waisted. I am very disappointed and will not ever recommend Emerald City Athletics to anyone.

Because of a referral from my Physical therapist, I left my local Ymca to try The Emerald city Athletic club in Monroe. He was convinced that the staff at ECAC had quite a bit more experience and the price to join was right. If you dont use the pool at the Y, only the gym and exercise classes then why pay the Ys high price? Emerald City has a vast amount of top quality weight lifting equipment and cardio machines as well as a very friendly and helpful staff. Chances are they will probably know your name in the first few weeks. I you are results oriented, you will love it here. With personalized plans and nutrional guidelines, the trainers at EC are highly qualified and knowledgable. They will help you the reach the goals you have set for yourself. And then maintain them. I see it over and over again.( myself included- I have lost 21 pounds between oct 2012 and feb 2013 Thanks Ryan!) Dont take my word for it. Stop by and check it out yourself. See everything they have to offer. And by all means take advantage and join!

ECA is an awesome Club. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I really like the workouts with the trainer each month. They track my progress and put me through a workout session once a month for free. Ive never belong to a gym that includes a free workout session with a trainer each month. The membership rates are very reasonable. The quality and amount of the equipment is outstanding. I never have to wait for a machine. I love the workout card they created for me. Its a no brainer when I come to workout. I just follow the routine they created for me. The classes are amazing. I especially like the FitLab class. I definitely feel better about myself and love the results I am getting. As a germafobe, I really appreciate the cleanliness of the club. :) I absolutely recommend this gym for anyone that lives in the Monroe area. Plus, I get access to their gym in Everett. Very convenient.

Im giving it 3 Stars to be fair. My one bad experience doesnt make it a bad place. If you dont know what youre doing its a good place to go Im sure. As an Army vet of 10 years I have a pretty good handle on fitness and nutrition. The trainer that showed me about was pretentious and consistently talked to me like I had no clue why I was at a Gym. Then there was the give me your account and routing number business. Where I was asked to pull up my information on their computers. Debt card works fine at every other major Gym Ive been to. Needless to say there are other options in town and they dont hassle you nearly as much. If your new to fitness theyll get you on the right track. If youre experienced theyll annoy the life out of you while pushing their products.

When I first signed up, it was too help me sleep since I worked late shifts, and they opened at 4. Then I signed up for PT sessions and everything went south, I was pretty upset with it all, but Austin got on contact with me about it, and he recommended me a new trainer, which I was skeptical at first. Michael is a huge reason why I like the place now, having weekly sessions with someone who understands my humor, and my limits makes things really helpful, and Ive started coming in everyday because of his encouragement. ECA made a great turnaround with my views on the place and I upgraded my contact for sessions every week. Im seeing slow but steady results now since Michael started helping me
