I recently had an issue with my laptop, it way creating massive amounts of temp files. I took it in to PT to have it looked at. The guy at the counter took it back to a tech to review on the spot. He said it seemed like a simple fix and would most likely be covered in their diagnostic fee of $50 to get it corrected. Or I could pay $100 for rush service. Im glad I didnt choose that option. I told him I needed it in 10 days for work, he said that theyd definitely be done by then. I told him if my issue was fixed within the $50 budget Id more than likely want to upgrade the ram. I also asked for a quote to remove the disk drive and replace it with a SSD. I get a call 7 days later. The guy on the other end goes right into trying to sell me the SSD upgrade. I ask him about my temp file issue and he says "Oh yeah your OS is corrupted" I ask him well is the issue corrected or where are we at? He responds "Well in order to fix the problem we have to re-install the OS, Thats $150. But you might as well do the SSD now because wed have to re-install for that anyway." So basically for the $50 they held on to my computer for a week, and tried to sell more overpriced services. $50 to look at my laptop for 5 minutes? $150 seemed steep to me to install a OS I already had a product key for. I picked up my laptop and returned home. After a quick Google search and a few clicks of the mouse my computer was being reset to its factory condition. For free. *****update***** From 1 star to 4 stars The owner has contacted me multiple times in regards to helping have a better experience with his company. He did give me a full refund, as well as offer me a very nice discount on the upgrades I was looking for. While errors are human, I do feel PT stepped up to the plate in correcting the issue. The customer service was pleasant, and I would consider using them in the future.

Let me start by saying "BACK UP YOUR DATA!!!" That being said, I didnt and when I received the BSOD thought no big deal, let it do its memory dump and Ill just turn it off and turn it back on, no problem. Well turning it back on caused the blood to leave my head. It would not boot to the hard drive. Panic then set in as I had put every picture that my new wife and I had ever taken on that hard drive. From cross country trips and vacations to Mexico while we dated to every picture having anything to do with our wedding. My bride, who had told me, "You should back that stuff up to that external drive you have", was now glaring at me with eyes only an angry wife can have. I assured her that I could get it all back. Looking around the web and searching Google, I came across Progressive Tech in Seattle. I called and was introduced to Martin at the front desk, I told him about what had happened and how I needed my life back. He was very upfront with me and made no promises. Saying, they probably could get the data back but it could be gone forever. I didnt pass this along to my wife. I drove to their store and after meeting Chris, within 15 minutes was told that the data was still there and that it looked like it was going to be able to be recovered. Still they would make no promises, but that fact that he could see it made me relax like you cant believe. Well to try to shorten this up... My data was fully recovered, my marriage is great and I am a happy camper. Dont every think twice about taking your equipment to Progressive Tech. They have a great team and will do everything possible to fix your problems. Thanks again Chris, Martin and the rest of the team.

I wanted to upgrade my 2011 MacBook Pro to an SSD hard drive since it was starting to run a little sluggish. I almost didnt do any research on where to take it before I brought it in and at the last minute decided to check some reviews. I saw that this place had a ton of great reviews so I checked them out. I first called them on the phone to talk about what I wanted to do. The guy on the phone was enthusiastic about getting my computer running good again and explained how installing this new hard drive would make a world of difference. He also gave me some really helpful info on what size hard drive to buy. essentially if I was going to run time machine to put everything back on my new drive it wouldnt work unless the drive was the same size as the old one. that was super helpful to know. They said depending on the queue in front of me it could take anywhere from 2-7 days which I was ok with. They quoted me a fair price over the phone for parts and labor so after I had everything backed up I brought it in. When I brought it in everyone was just as helpful as they were over the phone and it turned out they werent that busy when I came in. I was expecting to drop my computer off for the week and to my utter surprise they had it fixed up in under a half hour! Finally when I got home I was going to run time machine to put everything back on the new drive. I figured I could do it myself to save a few dollars. When I fired up my machine I was having trouble finding the new drive so I called the guys up and they walked me through how to find it over the phone. Super helpful, super friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone.

I need to compliment Progressive Tech for its honesty and good business practices and say that, while I hope I dont need their services in the future, theyre the first place Ill go when I do. I drove up from Olympia yesterday with some sort of video problem that followed a kernel panic message on my out-of-warranty MacBook Pro laptop (approx. 2.5-yrs old), expecting to pay the $79 for an immediate diagnostic, plus whatever the repair charge might be. When I arrived, the front-desk service guy saw I had a Mac laptop and sent Brandon out to talk. Brandon listened to my description of the problem and observed that my laptop had a video card (nVidia 8600GT) with a known problem that Apple is currently fixing for free. He said it was likely that the video card was the source of the problem, signed me up for an appointment for 45 minutes hence at the U Village Apple Store Genius Bar, and sent me on my way, no charge. The Apple Store folks confirmed that I had one of the bad video cards and kept the laptop for repair at no charge -- both the video card and the logic board needed replacing, apparently as a result of the bad video card. I got a call a bit earlier today that the repair was complete and I could pick up the machine at my convenience. Brandon could easily have charged me $79 for a diagnosis, as well as repair charge, for a fix that Apple is providing for free. Its rare these days to find a truly honorable company that does business the right way, and I wanted to make sure that Progressive Tech, especially Brandon, got credit for it. Thanks...
