Dropped my car off on a Friday morning to get the front brakes serviced with a Groupon for $49. Received 2 calls through out the day saying other repairs were needed before the car could leave. They said the rotors were warped, hubs were seized as well as a caliper piston being seized. If they were seized how would my car even be able to drive? The hubs turn the wheels. This was my first clue into the situation being suspicious. They wanted to charge me over $800 to fix and replace them and said I was getting a deal by taking a some labor off to make it still a whopping $580 after the Groupon. I after being hesitant, I agreed to the pushy manager insisting they needed to be done. Due to the extra cost I informed the shop I wouldnt have the extra cash until that coming Monday (2 days later). He said they would put my car into a holding cell on the side of the building which was fenced, I agreed. Monday I came into the shop office after work and had to open a credit card with the same manager for the extra repairs. He charged me the $580 and game me my key. I walked out side to not find my car anywhere in the lot. The car had been stolen! It was parked on the side of the street instead of the lot I was promised. Supposedly they had no idea my car had been missing all weekend, and even made me pay without a refund! I called the police immediately and filled out a police report. The officer documented both stories to be identical, including them admitting that they neglected to put my vehicle in the lot as they said they would. The officer stated I could take them to court and said it sounded like they were scamming me. As I was headed out to meet the officer for a ride home, the manager started making remarks to me that the officer had no idea what he was talking about. He said the RCW codes wouldnt allow me to proceed with court as an action against them, and I should ignore what the officer had said because their insurance would cover the loss if it wasnt recovered (which it never was). Why would their insurance cover anything at all if they werent liable?? They offered next to nothing for my car to be replaced and not even for the cost of the repairs to be refunded!! Needless to say I am in the middle of putting together a case against them for the value of my car and possible fraud. I do not suggest anyone take their car there or do any kind of business with them. They may seem all smiles and handshakes, but that changed the minute they were on the spot. I am sure I will win my case due to my attorneys guarantee as well as the officer volunteering to show up in court for me. I hope that no one has to deal with the same situation I have had to endure.

Our transmission was slipping. Aamco is the closest transmission shop to my previous home and I like to support businesses I live by. BIG MISTAKE!!! When we first took our truck in they said (not in writing) it would cost about $1800 to replace the torque converter. Apparently, it needed a rebuild instead and ended up costing over $3000 (either that or pay them $800 for taking it apart and putting it back together without doing anything. That $800 was to go towards the cost if we kept it there, talk about bait and switch). Our truck was in their shop for 4 days. When we got it back it only took two days to notice that the transmission was again slipping. We took it back in a week later and they said nothing was wrong with it. Three weeks went by and we took it in again. They said nothing was wrong (I still have all my receipts). We didn’t drive the truck very often and I’m not very good at getting mad at people. Before our one year warranty was up I took the truck in again, they said they were getting a code but it was something else that we needed to pay $350 to fix. It was something minor, so I took it to my regular mechanic. My mechanic fixed the said problem for under $200 and printed me off a receipt with the TRANSMISSION error code that was coming up. OMG, I didnt think to ask them after they told me they didnt do transmission work to check for an error!!! At that point I had proof that AAMCO didn’t fix my transmission. When my husband took it back in they FINALLY fixed it… until a week later when it slipped again. I took it back and politely asked them to fix it at which point they did!?! Who knows if it was just the torque converter all along that they never replaced or actually even rebuilt my transmission. It’s been over a year and my truck still drives fine. I will NEVER use AAMCO again. BTW- Who rates their own company? That should be reserved for CUSTOMERS ONLY!!! What a sham! Also, I recognize the name of the "new owner" to be the same owner who claimed to be a "new owner" when we got taken for a ride! Dale Henderson has been the owner since 4/12/2010 as listed on the BBB. I didnt file my complaint with anyone, however, I think its important that my experience be shared.

We had a clutch replaced and had to return a total of 4 times and they still couldnt get it right! It took them almost a week to do the clutch originally, then just a few days after we picked up the car it was nearly undrivable. So we brought it back and they "fixed" it fairly quickly. A few weeks later it wont go into gear at all and AAMCO had to tow it. They supposedly "fixed" it again but what do you know, it breaks again. After bringing the car back for the last time, they wanted to charge us more money and labor for something that they should have identified long before. I was willing to pay for the parts but not the labor after all the bungling theyd done up to this point. They refused and that was the end of it. They even had the nerve to claim that it had "only" been in the shop 3 times, not 4. The owner of AAMCO talks a good game. He said any problems and "well take care of it" but when it comes down to it they dont. We we very reasonable customers up to the last time it was in the shop. We gave them ever opportunity to remedy this but they failed miserably. Take your business elsewhere. I did, right across the street is a much better transmission shop. They even covered a part that was likely broken by AAMCO for free!

I called asking for catalytic converter quote(already knew car need it). Talked to Bob who told me to swing by if i have a few minutes and theyll hook the computer up at no charge to make sure why check engine light was on. An HOUR AND A HALF into my car being in the garage(??) and absolutely no information as to what they were doing, I requested I get my car back because I had to be somewhere. Another 20min, car was still in garage being looked at. Now Im getting frustrated. I had an appt I was late for, I needed my car. Now they say the car is done but my price quote is coming via fax and I have to wait to get that fax before they hand me my keys(!!??). Another 15 mins gone, waiting for this alleged fax that never came. I said screw the fax/quote, I need to go. Almost 2 hours I was there, for something that they could have done in 2 minutes. Finally the desk clerk got me my keys and while walking me to my car he said that my car is going to fall apart if I got in it and drove it. He said "I guarantee you will break down on I-5 right now if you drive and youre car will not be repairable". He never did call me with a quote. Fort Lewis gives you AAMCO coupons, magnets, calanders,, etc at newcomers orientation. Throw them away.
