So through the past few years I have had to deal with a few different auto shops who shall remain nameless, and to put it in short they were a nightmare to do business with. From misdiagnosing a problem, doing the work without telling me and charging me without my knowledge, sitting in an empty lobby for 45 minutes before the guy at the desk acknowledged my existence, and telling me that a part that doesnt even exist was broken in my car. It got to the point where I absolutely dreaded going to any shop for any reason at all. Well one day we had guy come to our door offering us a little coupon booklet from Simmons, the oil change deals alone were worth it, so I bought it since I just happened to have to have the cash for it. Then three weeks later my car would not start, so I was about to buy a new alternator and fix it myself when I remembered that I had those coupons. So I went to Simmons and MAN did I have my opinions of shops change. I was greeted as I walked through the door by a great receptionist and the owner of the shop, you feel welcome the moment you come in.They got the car fixed that day and let me know of a few serious problems I had not noticed before. With most businesses out there you find a severe lack of customer service, Simmons Automotive sets an example for how all businesses should be ran. I returned to get more work done and will continue to return in the future, and I hope to see this shop grow. You can shop around if you want but if you want to skip all the hassle, these are the go to guys.

I highly disagree with the other rating of 5 stars. Simmons Automotive does NOT deserve such praise. I once thought this auto shop was full of integrity, but after my recent experience, I advise NO ONE to take their car to Simmons. My 2004 Honda Civic had its Timing Belt replaced by Simmons Automotive back in 3/2009 at 106,756 miles. (yes, quite overdo, I know) Fast Forward to 6/2011 at 128,974 miles and my car just completely breaks down on me in the middle of the road. After towing it to the South Tacoma Honda Dealer, I learned that my Timing Belt Tensioner and Spring Broke...therefore damaging quite a bit in my car! They had to replace all the items that Simmons Automotive apparently replaced just 2 years ago. There is absolutely NO reason that my Timing Belt should have broken after just 22,000 miles! Im comparing my bill from Simmons against my most current Honda dealership bill and Im amazed at how overpriced Simmons was!! You would think I would have spent more at a dealer, but Honda actually charged less for the parts and they were actual Honda parts...not some after market crap (which Simmons used)! Im soo upset with the quality of work from Simmons. You think youre getting a decent deal, but serious shop around! Simmons is quite expensive and in the end, you will need to replace their shotty work.

I have been taking my car to Dean for at least 5 years and my experience has always been wonderful! I have a 1999 chevy cavalier that I flipped and totaled in 2002 while living in Missouri and it now has over 200,000 miles on it. After I moved back to Washington, I started taking my car to Simmons for everything and they have kept me running. They are always friendly, caring and completely honest with me. Even when I moved to Everett, I still make the trip to Tacoma for any service on my car. The past year, Ive had more and more going wrong with my car and this last week when something else went out, Dean told me he would, of course, repair it if I wanted/needed but reviewed my records with me and told me it was probably time to pull the plug on my poor little car :( Im so grateful for their honesty over the years and always knew they would tell me when it was starting to cost me almost as much as a car payment to repair my car and he did. I will be reviewing my warranty information for my new car and as long as I dont have to go to the dealership for maintenance to keep the warranty, I will be bringing my new car to Dean for everything. Thanks Dean, Bonnie, Zach, Sara and all of the rest of the gang there, you are all truly the best!!

I have never been to Simmons Automotive, but they are my shop in Tacoma now. I had a vehicle sent over there that I was considering buying to have them do a pre-purchase inspection. When I first called to set it up and get a feel for the operation I spoke with a very friendly gentleman who was helpful and knowledgeable about the rig I was looking at, he explained my options, told me everything they would do and got me scheduled...he turned out to be the owner. So the truck got dropped off and they immediately saw some things that concerned them so they called me to see if I wanted them to proceed or cancel it and save a bunch of money. Doesnt that make you feel like a shop has your back? They were not able to get a hold of me and did a brief inspection but not what I had planned on, they knew my concerns and acted in my best interests, saving me a lot of money. Simmons Automotive is my shop in Tacoma and should be yours too.

Recently purchased a 1997 Ford E150 conversion van, after fixing a punch list of items. I got down to the hot air blowing A/C. I am not an A/C technician but I saw a billboard Simmons had for an A/C service special, so I called and made an appointment. They were very booked up but managed to squeeze me in and completed the repair very efficiently and in a timely manor. They discovered the low pressure switch was defective and the system low on refrigerant which they corrected. They did a vehicle inspection and topped off my some fluids. The price was very reasonable. When I got home I discovered they had replaced a jerry-rigged negative battery terminal with a new one and never mentioned it (or charged for it). It may be a little thing but to me it speaks volumes. They have earned a customer for life and I will recommend them to anyone that asks.

I called to make an appointment and was scheduled for the next day. The gentleman over the phone was friendly and knowledgeable. I brought the car in and had all my questions answered and the service quickly performed. I was shocked at their prices when I paid the bill. They truly go above and beyond to provide truly exceptional service at affordable prices. I was most impressed that they were very honest about what was going on with my vehicle and provided reasonable estimates. This is one of the good ones. They are one of the rare shops not run by dishonest crooks. I have had my vehicles done numerous times at Firestone have been lied too and ripped off. My experience with Simmons was the exact opposite. I look forward to continue to use this shop.

My mechanic/shop that I used exclusively moved away. I was in the need of a trustworthy and reliable automotive repair shop. I had been unable to find one that I could fully trust my vehicles with. I had a chance to meet Dean outside of the automotive industry and knew him to be a genuine and honest person. When I found out he owned an automotive repair shop, I knew I had found my new shop. I had some work done on my truck and not only did they come in under the original quote, they kept me informed every step of the way. From Sarah calling me to keep me updated, to Zach informing me of what issues came up, to Dean himself keeping me apprised of everything. I would highly recommend Simmons Automotive.
