Within a year: 2 bad hard disks, 1 defective video card on a single $2k system ALONE. Not only that, but they have no parts of their own, so your defective system will sit on their shelves for over a week until they can get more substandard parts to throw inside. Until your warranty runs out. Then theyll try billing you for even more substandard parts and service. Look, if you dont run a business or if youre not a super-user then you can probably manage to get a marginal pre-made system. If all you need it for is sending email etc. then a week of down time per-failure isnt a big deal for you either. Youll get overcharged, of course, since you dont really *need* anything but a low-end dell. But if you actually need a fairly capable system built and it needs to be actually more dependable than the aforementioned Dell, look elsewhere. They dont have business level knowledge or service. In fact, our operation has 3 Dells that have seen service for 3 years that didnt have half the problems the supposedly dependable Madison Computer Works garbage had within 6 months let alone a year. The garbage we made the mistake of buying from them is now getting fixed... AGAIN! But by in-house tech people with parts from Newegg. Turn around time? 3 days including parts shipping. With better parts ordered online it costs us half what Computer Works would have charged anyway.

Ive been a client of Madison Computer Works for many years as have countless friends and business associates and owners. The quality of service, parts, speediness of repairs and the attention to detail have been the reasons I have recommended them to virtually everyone I know who owns a computer. Ive found no unnecessary add-ons or pushy up-selling, just honest professionals. They have specialized professionals that handle every aspect of personal or professional computers, printers, networks and service. I have been a victim of purchasing a bogus computer system without the service to back it up and was left out in the cold thinking I was saving money. Afterward, when I purchased my systems from Madison Computer Works, I came away highly informed of my purchasing decision. I knew of the time line for upgrades to protection of my data and my network security as well as system maintenance. Over the years any of my little glitches have been fixed over the phone so Ive felt totally comfortable giving them as a reference to so many friends and associates. I would highly recommend using Madison Computer Works for any aspect of your computer needs, personal or professional.

I wish I had seen the comment about not taking Macs to Madison Computer Works sooner. We took our old Mac there and they were completely out of their comfort zone. They were insulting about the age of the computer and were unable to fix or diagnose what was wrong with the computer. We overheard them on the phone saying they had spent very little time on it, but when we went in they were firm on charging us $100. The $100 fee had been the minimum charge to evaluate what was wrong with our computer, and considering they were unable to do so, I feel that we were grossly overcharged. They were insulting and rude. They wasted our time and money. I created this account specifically to rate them. I hope no one else makes the same mistake I did.

I have been dealing with Madison Computer Works for over 25 years. I tried a different company once for service, and that was a big mistake. It was a terrible experience. The people at Madison Computer Works have always been friendly and willing to go the extra distance to get my service done, and done right. I dont like needing to call them, but when I do, I know whatever help I need is going to be available, year after year. I trust them, and the fact they have been there so long should speak for itself. Dont make the mistake I did by trying the other guys, you will end up frustrated. Once again you saved the day for me. All my data recovered, and without a bunch of tacked on unneeded charges. THANK YOU, Madison Computer Works!!!

I didnt end up being a customer but I had a positive interaction anyways. I was having issues with my PC having a blue screen of death. I called them to see if it was something theyd be able to investigate. I was speaking to Charlie on the phone. I explained what symptoms I was seeing and what diagnostics I was running. Charlie said they would normally perform the same kinds of diagnostics I was already running. I could bring it in for them to look at, but he doubted they would be able to verifiably identify the cause since the error was so generic. I have a lot of respect for him to listen to my issue then to recommend against bringing it in for service. This shows a lot of integrity.

I am a business owner since 1999 here in Madison WI with 17 workstations. Mad City Sales (.net) ---I have worked with several orginanizations in regards to my IT, hardware and software needs. Im glad I found Brian and his crew at Madison Computer Works to help me with all of my needs. They are friendly, knowledgable and always ready to help. Yesterday I saw the 1 star review and felt it to be unfair to them as in my dealings I cannot imagine this happening there so i decided to post a real account of whet they truly are. Madison Computer Works is incredible. All the staff are extremely knowledgeable, very responsive and can talk computer or whatever language I use to discuss my computer hard and software problems. Their sales department is awesome, takes time to really understand what i need before offering solutions that really work. They are my "IT" department. The customer service is so superior to anything I have ever experienced. I have referred many business owners with ongoing IT issues and clients with personal computer issues. Everyone has thanked me profusely for the great treatment and service they received.

This company not only has patience when they send someone out, but they were able to fix multiple problems expediently during a single visit. I give Madison Computer Works five stars, because in one visit they solved all the problems that would take other companies like the Geek Squad MULTIPLE times, which ends up costing me more without fixing the issues. I recommend this Madison Computer Works, and am so thankful that I found them. In the long run, Madison Computer Works is less costly and you are inconvenienced only one time.

For almost 3 decades I have chosen Madison Computer Works. Almost every time I have gone elsewhere, I experienced dishonesty, pressure based selling, and an inflated bill. Madison Computer Works, in contrast, always provided an honest assessment of my options, (and not just options that maximized my costs). In addition, whenever a computer failed, their expertise remedied the situation expeditiously. It is the best computer company in Madison.

We are a medical clinic and our Hard Drive crashed, which had all our patient data, billing and so much more. They made us a priority, and helped us retrieve 100% of our data and helped us establish a better data backup policy and overall saved our clinic. There are no words to explain how great the owner, employees and service given. These are your go to people when you have computer issues!!!!
