STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! United Van Lines handled our full move from Phoenix to Madison. We had to use Schroder since the move was through the University of Wisconsin. As part of the full move, our belongings are packed, trasported and unpacked by the company representatives.During the packing process, my wife was present. She watched the packers essentially throwing things into boxes. She had to tell them multiple times to be careful with our belongings. There were 2 items she asked them not to touch or move which were a suitcase and a camera in a camera bag. After helping the packers pack everything up, the taxi came to pick her up for the airport. She lifted the camera bag only to realize that the camera was missing. The worst part about it is that the camera contained our pictures from our first trip together. She immediately called the truck driver, Wayne, with our concern. He refused to turn around and told us that it had likely been packed accidentally. We had no choice but to just wait until our stuff arrived. During the transit, I kept getting calls from the driver with updates of when he would arrive and with various requests such as calling the city to block off the street for his truck when it arrived, calling the unpackers so that they were aware of revised dates and times of their arrival, and technical questions asking how best to maneuver his truck in our neighborhood. I also recieved multiple calls from the unpackers asking if we knew when the truck would be arriving and how many unpackers would be required. It seemed as though I was doing all of the coordinating of the move. Finally when our stuff arrived, of course the camera was missing as well as a expensive mountain bike. Interesting that the things that are the most easily pawned would be missing. Coincidence? When we called Schroeders George Brown to let him know, he said that they would send a form for our reimbursement and made it seem like it was not big deal and that everything would be taken care of. Months later, an adjuster arrived to look at the damaged items. We filled out a form with the damaged and missing items. Months passed. We called Schroeder who stated that there was nothing they could do and it was being handled by the main office. Months later after multiple phone calls and emails, we finally received a check for only the damaged items. The missing items were "respectfully denied, the items were checked as being received on the inventory control form. Therefore, United has no evidence of carrier mishandling." I dont care that things were damaged. Its a big move and stuff is sure to be damaged. But if items are stolen, it is your word against theirs and trust me, they will not take responsibility. At the end of the day, you want the things you have worked so hard for and much of which is irreplaceable (pictures, movies, etc.) to be well taken care of. We are so disappointed with losing our pictures. To add insult to injury, they are not even willing to acknowledge their mistake and reimburse us for the missing items. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY,

Nothing but great things about my move! We reently moved from WI to TX~picked up our house of belongings on a Wed and was down in TX the following week with only 2 totes cracked....otherwise no belongings were broken. I think 2 toted cracks is extremely acceptable considering they loaded and unloaded a total of 4 times because they had to move my load in between two trucks. I will say that we packed up our own belongings and took VERY good care to wrap fragiles w/ bubble wrap, etc. w/ much extra care. Thats definitely a hint of advice...take the time to wrap/put things in boxes w/ some thought and fill them full so things dont move around as much w/in the boxes....that was a tip I received from the mover and is definitely worth repeating because I think thats why essentially nothing was broken over that amount of distance. Anyway, I definitely recommend them. Very good customer service and good price. Go with them, you wont regret it! I wanted to put this review out there because I know I spent hours researching moving companies and looking for positive/negatie reviews since I was essentially putting my whole house into their hands and wanted to pick the best company for that. In my eyes, I did.

Terrible service. I moved from Riverside, CA to Waukesha, WI. Terrible experience. The people at Schroeder talk a big game, but when it comes to doing the work, their service is terrible and poorly coordinated. Here is a list of the problems I had: 1. Truck driver and packers arrived 1 day late. Apparently they were not told the correct date by the Schroeder representatives. This caused us to have to rebook our flight. Of course Schroeder did not reimburse us for this expense. 2. Numerous phone calls during the transport from the truck driver during the move. I thought we were paying Schroeder to coordinate this! 3. Lost items. 4. Many of our family keepsakes were missing. They apologized for this, but then directed us to their corporate offices. Its clear that they do not care. 5. Many damaged items. The packing people seemed to be incompetent temporary workers without any training. A china set that had been handed down for generations was destroyed. Approximately half of the peices were broken. In the end, I wish I would have just rented a U Haul and packed it all myself. Professional moving company. . . Yeah right!

Overall, Schroeder moved my stuff from California to Wisconsin and did all of that on time. My concerns with the company are because of how they handled damage they did to my items and property. The movers acknowledged doing the damage, so they could not contest most things, though they still gave it their best effort to refuse paying. Now, it took roughly 5 months from damage being done to all repairs being completed (I had 3 repairs). Also, the repair companies informed me that they were instructed to handle the repairs in a cheaper manner than they were comfortable with (but did so because thats all they were authorized to do). This was disappointing, since their staff did the damage, at least return it to the condition it was prior. I do understand companies want to make money and providing cheap solutions is one way to maximize that, but Ill always recommend companies with higher integrity.

Beware - they are unprofessional and charged us $800 over what they quoted, claiming more stuff than expected and longer moving distance from house to truck. They did a walkthrough before, shouldnt be this different Also broke multiple items - a cherry wood dining chair, bird bath, plates and other small items. Our reimbursement for the broken items?? $24. Some of their movers were good guys and were trying, but in the end bad experience. We tipped and fed the movers VERY well, but in the end we got duped by the company. Theres better companies out there.

I cant say enough about how wonderful the customer service was! From the estimator to the coordinator to the packers to the drivers ... A+ all the way! They moved me from Wisconsin to Colorado and everything went smoothly. A small glitch was handled very efficiently and professionally and I would highly recommend them! Thanks all for helping to make my move less stressful!
