Beyond Happy... It was several years ago that I went to highland auto for my first repair. I have been a customer ever since. I was recommended by my Father-in-law who had been taking his automobiles there for years. I was certain there was a problem with my car, sure enough it was not a minor problem. I had blown a head on the motor and was going to need to get the engine rebuilt or just buy a new engine. This was my fault because I was 20 yrs old and tried some work under the hood (big mistake). Anyways I dried up all the seals in the top of the engine. Virgil and his crew put several hours into my car to isolate the problem (taking off the heads to look at everything, and much more). Remember it was a long time ago so i do not remember all the exact details of what was wrong with the car. All i know is that it needed a new engine or to be rebuilt (as already stated).Virgil told me that he had to put a few quarts of oil to try and find the problem. He saw that I was 20 years old and just lost my only transportation. He cut a bargain with me that has kept me a customer ever since. He told me to just pay for the cost of the oil and a part they tried to use ($55). Here I was thinking I was going to owe them $300+ and walk away with a useless car. Instead I was able to walk away knowing that I can trust him on everything. I trust Virgil and his crew with ALL my cars.

Virgil, the owner, is an incredibly fair and honest man. He brings integrity to the auto repair business. My parents had recommended Highland Auto to me on his account, but it was not until this week that I understood why they trusted him so much. Just the other day, I approached him about a water pump (and belt) that broke for the second time just 15 months after they had replaced it. I didnt notice until 3 months later, and I showed Virgil my two receipts. He dealt with the situation very graciously and fairly. Although he and his son (a co-manager) are men of few words, they speak with their actions, which is infinitely better. I am wearied by car repair centers where the managers talk a good talk (like the "business men" they are) but do not follow through with actions that help me, their customer. Virgil and his son do not have silver tongues; I appreciate their straightforwardness that speaks through their actions and decisions (not the comforting/manipulative dressing that other repairmen put on actions that hurt their customers pockets). Though their prices are not tremendously low, they have terrifically fair policies and they "put their name behind their work" (hold themselves accountable). You get what you pay for, and you can trust what they say. The world needs more auto mechanics like these guys. - Brent Bowers Mesa, AZ

I took my car to Highland Auto Repair as I had heard so many great things about Virgil and his shop from a coworker. My rotors were warped and my car was shaking so I took it in to get fixed. I didnt give them much time so they werent able to fix it all in one day. He told me to bring it back the next day and he would finish and still only charge me for 1 day of labor. When I asked Virgil what else was wrong with my car that I needed to get fixed he told me there was nothing wrong that needed immediate attention, just a wheel bearing that has probably 5 months life left in it and to bring it back in around then. Funny, considering every time I go get my oil changed I get told I have about 6-7 things that need to be fixed IMMEDIATELY-- totaling about $2,000. Very honest, very good prices. Highly recommended.

We have been taking our cars to Virgil at Highland Auto for over five years. He is ALWAYS upfront and honest about what really needs to be fixed. I once dropped off my car for some minor repairs and mentioned I thought something might be wrong with the brakes. When I picked up the car Virgil told me that he had fixed the things I mentioned were wrong and completely checked over the brakes. He said they were fine and I shouldnt worry about them. I was impressed that a mechanic had passed on the opportunity to "fix" something that wasnt broken! The last time I returned home from picking up my car there, I reviewed the bill and literally called Virgil to make sure I was actually charged for all of the work his mechanics had completed. I couldnt believe the deal I had gotten and was worried I had underpaid!

Ive brought my car to Highland twice, one time was simply to have the AC fixed which went out again a week later. The second time was to have my tires balanced, fix the AC again and have a squeak in my tires fixed. They balanced the tires fine but the AC went out AGAIN a week later, I gave them very specific symptoms regarding my AC and my tires are still squeaking. The owner (Virgil) is a nice guy and all but I care more about having my car fixed honestly. Im going to be taking my car into them one more time to fix the AC, maybe 3rd time is a charm. Overall Im rather disappointed with Highland Auto and wont be recommending them to anymore people.

Virgil and his crew are the nicest folks. Honest guy never over charges. My first repair I took my car to other shops for prices and got quoted double the price and they tried to add stuff. I took what they said to Virgil he said thats not needed, no thats crazy and you only need this for this price and labor. He will seem like a cranky guy but he has a very kind heart and does good work in a very timely manner. I always recommend Highland Auto cause even if the price might seem high you know its needed and youre not getting ripped off. Dont believe me get 2 other quotes before going here and you will see why I trust Virgil over everyone else

Weve trusted Virgil and his family with all our autos for over twenty years and he has always been there for us. Its hard to describe someone like Virgil. I have watched him do work for people in need and he either did not charge them or charged very little for the parts and labor he provided. Im not saying he works for free but he helps when he can and thats something seldom seen these days. Its always a pleasure working with Virgil, I think everyone who knows him feels there is a special place in Heaven for guys like him. If every business was run by a person like him life would be great. Awesome guy!

We have taken a few of our families vehicles here and have always had a good experience. They have even gone so far as to try to find less expensive parts for our vehicles when it was a costly repair. When repairing my volvo, Virgil told us to just buy a new car because if he fixed the problem there were going to still be other things to fix. Instead of taking our money, he helped us and saved us thousands of dollars. They are not great about calling when they say they will and you have to call to find out the status of your vehicle. Its a minor convenience, but Ive next met a more honest garage.
