DO NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU WILL BE USING KIDS CLUB FOR A TODDLER. I have been a member of this gym for about 3 months (I started on late november) I have two boys one is almost 3 and the other is 17 months. When I got my membership I explained to the sales person in this gym I was a stay home mom and my kids had never been cared for by anyone other than myself. I told him they were very active and that I needed a place reliable enough for me to work out in peace since (anyone who has boys will understand they are A HAND FULL) let alone having two that are 1 year and a half apart. He told me not to worry about anything, that the staff in the Kids club could handle them. About a week after we started going constantly (after the holidays) I was told my older son had hit someone and was put on time out. I then complained because after my workout I went to pick up my sons and the oldest looked like he had been crying for longer than 5 minutes. After that my older son got over the hitting stage and all was fine until my 17 month old hit another girl, one mom complained about it and the gym management told me they were going to freeze my kids club account for two month and I told him I also had to have my gym account frozen since I did not have anyone to care for my kids. He then told me I had to pay for the monthly freeze fee of $10 (which might not be a lot) but why do I have to pay for something I didnt want in the first place! I did not like the way LA fitness handled the situation, I also asked if I could just cancel and get a refund for the month that was already paid for long with my kids club and he said no. THE REASON i am frustrated is that if your gym cant handle the NORMAL stages of a 17 month old baby WHY OFFER THE SERVICE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Also, we got our accounts frozen without a previous warning! I dont recommend this gym for parents with kids UNLESS YOU HAVE PERFECT KIDS, I think the punishment for this situation was too extreme since we are talking about a 17 month old and LA FITNESS should have given a full refund for their incompetence to care properly for my kids.

I went in as a guest and thank goodness because Im not going back. I am an athlete who has never really had to train at a gym because my practice schedule and great training have always kept me in great shape. 2 years ago I had a back injury that kept me out of my sport for 23 months. After heavy rehab and conditioning I am just starting to compete again, and with my first major competition in mid Jan., I thought it would be a good idea to join a gym for strength and cardio training. My girlfriend went down and joined yesterday so I went to try it out and join up with her. I had all intentions of joining but after wandering the gym bewildered not knowing what machine does what, while 5 girls hang around the reception desk chit chatting, and another 10 or so employees hang out in little cubicles doing the same, I walked out frustrated and will not be going back. I spent at least 15-20 minutes walking around like Im lost, with juice heads dogging me like Im checking them out or something, and that whole time I did not see one of those employees out on the floor. I even spent 5 minutes sitting on the floor against the wall after giving up, no help. Just a very uncomfortable and awkward experience. What ever happened to customer service? Its slowly becoming a thing of the past at some establishments, and on the evening I was there LA fitness became one. Unfortunate because the place looked like a pretty nice gym.

The gym itself is fine, but the way they do business is what caused me to write. When I opened the account, I specifically asked about how things worked if the account was terminated, given the fact that they take a first and last months payment. I was told it would cover the cost of the last month if I terminated. My adult daughter was with me and heard the exact same thing. I repeated the same line of questioning several times, to be sure I was clear about the policy. When I had to terminate the account, it was immediately after I had just had my account debited for a new month, so I expected a refund, but I got a different story. The company policy is to extend the access to the gym for as long as the payments cover, and there are no refunds. The only other option given to me by the manager was to call the corporate member services number, but he stated the policy is clear. It is true and is stated in the agreement as such. However, I think i was misled, intentionally or otherwise, by the rep who signed me up. He told me the opposite of what the agreement states. It is getting more and more difficult to find businesses that are honest or at least well trained enough to answer a simple policy question. If you decide to sign up with LA Fitness (which I dont recommend), READ the ENTIRE AGREEMENT to avoid what I experienced.

The gym itself is pretty basic. I started going to the Avondale location initially but switched to this one to workout with a friend. I love that its not too busy, even though its smaller. Its pretty clean for the most part. People are friendly and I havent had anyone pester me to sign up for personal training. The daycare staff isnt too great. They act lazy and ignore people when they walk in...like were inconveniencing them by dropping our kids off. When I go to pick my daughter up after my workout girls will be laying on the floor like theyre trying to sleep. They ignore the parents and sometimes they dont even check the kids out. Ive since decided to go back to the Avondale location where they pay much closer attention to my daughter, play with her and actually seem to work.

I went there today to check the club out and was setup up with a trainer. He was very rude. He asked why anyone would ever go to a gym to check it out. He constantly questioned me about when im gonna join , where i live and called me a liar for no reason. He pressured me to sign up refused to give a guest pass and said this isnt a rec center. He kept asking why i would come in and not sign up right away. I said because i like to get a feel for the gym before i sign up and obviously by the impression he gave me i would never go to one of those gyms again. We got into a loud argument and i walked out. I dont care who you are, the last thing you do is call a customer a liar and pressure them by calling them out on thier intentions. What a terrible salesman

Im not going to go into a lot of details here, but LAFitness has been an overall bad experience. When it came time to cancel, it went from bad to worse. The customer service is horrendous here, as well as corporate. It took us two months, too many phone calls, and too many rude people to accomplish a very easy task. The operations manager at this particular location failed to even process the cancellation paperwork, while corporate told us that they werent able to do it. I would recommend any other gym besides this one.
