Diane and Greg- Feb. 1, 2011 We give this gym a BIG FIVE STARS ! We are 65 years old and feel young again thanks to this Avondale LA Fitness, The entire staff, The Manager Patrick, and our great trainer Vince......We put off joining a gym because of all the bad things we heard about gyms in general. We both decided we werent getting any younger or more fit so we "took the plunge." We were so delighted from the minute we walked into the LA Fitness in Avondale. We were treated very well and were introduced to Patrick the Manager. He was so nice to us, well dressed, very informative, and not "pushy" at all. He made us feel comfortable and showed us around this beautiful gym. It was very clean and didnt smell bad like other gyms we have gone to. The floors were spotless, equipment well taken care of and the pool was wonderful. The best thing we did other then signing up was to get a trainer. We train with Vince twice a week and do water aerobics three times a week. We also do cardio and weights during the week. We are happily seeing great results. It has only been two and half months since we signed up but we have to say "its the BEST decision we have made and the FINEST GYM.......Thank you LA Fitness.........P.S. the rates were reasonable and "worth every penny."

Today I found a cockroach in the jacuzzi! No it cannot get more than 1 star. But this is not the only thing that is bad. They have personal trainers that are not personal qualified but r allowed to train people. The result of this is my man ended up with muscle damage and not being able to use his arms for 3 days. He nearly collapsed. Not even a week later the same "personal trainer" who has no license trained someone else who did collapse and came to the gym next day with an oxygen mask! The manager there (women) is not capable of doing anything. After my complain nothing was done, nothing towards us to make us happy again nor against that trainer, as just stated another accident happened.... Well see what they do about the cockroach issue. Its been 30 min and the jacuzzi is still open where the cockroach was found by me. Disgusting!

I gave it 4 stars-- Ive been to a lot of different gyms in my lifetime, Id say this one is just your average gym. Nothing really special and for most people, it gets the job done. Management here has been generally nice and left me alone (but Ive only been a couple times). Gym is clean enough and I was able to find cleaner to clean my equipment after. No problems with fraud as far as what theyve charged me to sign up and membership fees. Things I wish this gym had personally? Well I was spoiled by an awesome gym in Las Vegas that was open 24/7, had a crazy amount of group classes, and had a cafe with amazing smoothies & food within the gym. It was also super clean and had a running track. Oh, and it was $22/month. Overall though, this is a good gym.

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about?? I love this gym!! Its never too crowded like the one on 75th ave.... the machines are always fixed on time and kept in working order.... and sure people are looking at each other but its never struck me as a "meat market" at all. Its a gym.... all gyms are a meat market to an extent, right? Id recommend this gym to anyone. The staff is not super friendly or anything but theyre not RUDE. Then again I dont really deal with them that much... just walk in, hand them my card and work out. And as far as the fraud goes.... they take $24.99 out of my bank account each month and Ive never had a problem. I guess we all have our own experiences, but mine has been a good one. Especially for $24.99/month!

Weve been members at LA Fitness for a couple years now and weve never experienced any fraud. Sales people are going to be sales people and you cant not buy from a dealership because you felt you had to negotiate to get a good deal on the car. Its the nature of the business. So for all those bad reviews out there... set reasonable expectations and you wont be disappointed. This a good gym. It has clean ammenities, equipment that works, and CHEAP childrens care ($10 per month per kid). Is it lifetime fitness? No, but you get what you pay for.

Me and my girlfriend enjoy this gym quite a bit. Havent had any problems with things stolen from lockers or vandalism which is important in this part of town. What isnt so good is broken machines and an overall unwillingness or care to fix them. The same treadmills have been broken for weeks now and it just crowds the gym worse on week nights. The people that work there are a cross between "hip-hop" kids and younger 20s-ish who dont really care. I give 4 stars because the kid that set us up with our membership gave us a crazy good deal.

Bad business! I walked in and was looking for the guy who helps cancel memberships, he left early. I wanted to leave a note in my file or on a sticky pad to let the guy know I went in to cancel my membership and to give me a call when I could return to cancel. Since I didnt acknowledge the elderly front desk lady she got extremely pissed off and started yelling at me she didnt have no reason to leave a note. Not good customer service at all. Dont put a bitter person with horrible customer service on the front of your business!

I enjoyed the gym until....I decided to try out some personal training sessions, which I liked but the sales rep did not explain the contract too well. I was stuck in a 160.00 dollar a month, plus 35 member ship fee, on top of my child center expenses......all because the rep stated that i could get out of my contract anytime. which was all a lie. I dislike the sales because they lie and gave me a very hard time...I do not attend LA Fitness anymore and wasted money on this gym.

I just came down from Nyc and my first time going here was a horrid experience i tried to be friendly and play basketball and a bunch of young colored kids were trying to provoke me and attack me over and over with threats , they were really prejudice and i have no clue why until i said thats enough and had to leave there were no staff around and the ones i did find were busy on there phones very scary enviroment will not come back for the time being.

Always clean, but it seems like some piece of equipment is broken and it takes them a week to fix it. They have tvs on but if you dont have a device that picks up radio feq. You cant listen to them. They have not caught it would appear as a company that most smartphones do not have this option in them. On an be ready to be sold on a personal trainer even if you ask a question, they want money.

This gym sucks. Always something with this gym! No AC in the indoor basketball gym. No shower curtains in the shower so you have to be naked in front of everyone no privacy. And there was a 2 or 3 month period where We couldnt use the indoor basketball gym because of some little league using the court for practice! Horrible gym I wouldnt recommend anyone to sign up at LA Fitness
