(only gave a star because it is required to post) Buyer Beware! I called for the cost prior to going up to the Fitness 1 on Waddell so I knew what to expect, after touring the facility the manager gave my husband and I a price that was three times what I was told when I called. We left the center and went to the one on Greenway and got the correct price for our membership. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of signing up for training. In January I contacted Sean, the training coordinator at the Waddell location about making sure my contract was going to cancel, I was told that I didnt have to do anything it would cancel at the end of the year contract...$600 dollars later it still had not cancelled. I then had the "luck" of talking to Jen who "runs" the Greenway location and one other, she like to talk about good business practice but cant actually fix anything. When I asked to speak to the owner (Kelly Bruce?), I was told that she would give him the message but that he probably would not call me because he doesnt do that...really so he does not care about his customers? I was promised a follow up phone call from Jen to make sure the contract was cancelled, here is over a month later...no call and no information from the owner. Dont waste your money on training, they hire trainers who have very sketchy backgrounds, there does not seem to be a requirement other than you have a certificate to train, and they cant keep staff so you end up moving from trainer to trainer. The people are rude that work the counter, they will tell you one thing and an hour later deny that you even spoke to them, even if you have their information in their handwriting. The second line of Fitness 1s business motto is "We are committed to providing the best experience for our members", I would suggest they update the motto to "we are only out for the money, the customer experience doesnt mean a thing to us" because that is the impression given by the employees at both the Greenway and Waddell locations.

I was a member at this gym from October 07 - May 08 and was quite satisfied with their equipment and hours. However, in May when I was in the middle of moving to Florida I "canceled" my membership with them. By "canceling" I mean speaking with the girl at the front desk and having her assure me that I was clear and everything was good to go. Well a month later I see there is a monthly deduction taken from my bank account. Think it was just that "last and final charge" I ignored it. In July it appeared again. I called Fitness 1 and spoke to the manager and he said he would look into the situation and would call me back. He never called me back. I called a few days later and there was no manager on duty so I got the address and sent a letter explaining my situation along with bank statements proving I was still being charged. The letter got returned to me for an incorrect address. I called AGAIN. This time the same manager told me that he had never spoken to me before and was unaware of my situation. He also told me that none of his employees would have ever not canceled my membership when I asked them to, which was a lie. He argued with me and then got my phone number and said hed call me back. Which is exactly what happened last time. I wont hold my breath. They are STILL stealing money from me.

Ive found myself in the same situation as other reviewers. I cancelled my membership, in writing and in person (even had it stamped and signed by the person who received it) and now they are saying I still owe them money. All of my dues were automatically withdrawn so how can I suddenly owe money now that Ive cancelled my membership?? Wouldnt you simply take any dues still owed the same way youve taken all the others? If there was some problem with an automatic withdrawal I would expect a bill. However, I never received one. Instead I heard nothing until I got a collections letter. When I sent my membership cancellation notice (glad I kept a copy), which was dated prior to the dues they were trying to collect, I got a generic letter in response saying they cant process my cancellation until I pay dues owing. Now when I try to call to talk to someone to take care of it (at this point I will even pay them money I dont owe just to be done with it) I get the, very rude, runaround. Dont get sucked in!

One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I moved to Arizona for work for a few months, told them I couldnt sign a 1 year membership because I probably wouldnt be there for a year. I was told I could cancel anytime as long as I showed proof of a change of address. So I call them a month after I moved to freeze my account so that I could wait to get a bill with my name and new address on it. They tell me I have to come in to sign a freeze form. Hello!? I just said I moved to another state. How would you like me to do that? "Its not our problem that you didnt come in before you moved to sign the papers." Who doesnt let people sign paperwork through the mail or email? Are we still living in the stone age? In short, these people are theives and liars! I would not suggest going to this gym ever unless you want a congested place to work out, the trainers treat you like garbage and try to suck more money out of you or if you just want to throw your money away.

My husband and I were members with this gym for almost two years and everything was going good. Until my daughter got a head injury at their daycare. When the daycare staff was question about her injury, they had no idea how it happen...get this they said, "Well she never came up to me and told me she was hurt." People she is only two yrs old with a bunch of strangers at that. Who is the adult? When management got involved he was not concern, never asked about her injury or if it was already treated? His look was like a "so what". If anyone goes to this gym and uses their daycare honesty BEWARE! Put it this way, the way management had treated the situation i could have sued but I am not that kind of person. I just want to warn people when looking into this gym be careful. Oh by the way caught a staff infection on top of that I am not the only one from what i heard. Given one star but actually rating -10!

I would recommend this gym. Some of the trainers I would questions but Marc is amazing! He really knows his stuff and if you are getting ready to compete, he is definitely the guy for you(male or female) My husband and I have been going here for a year now without any issues (my husband has a full sleeve) & Our kids love the kids care. The only issue I do have is the billing company, they are a pain in the you know what...they have screwed up my account a few times now but luckily always credit my account pretty quickly. I do think they should go with another company for this or do it them selves...they would definitely have 5 stars if so. There are sometime quite a bit of high school kids screwing around but the staff seems to keep them under control. Other than that, they have all the equipment needed to workout, great price and great hours.
