UPDATE 8/19/17: A couple weeks ago, I had to bring my car back for some more transmission trouble, it turned out the new clutch Shane put in was a faulty clutch, and over the span of two weeks the transmission leaked out oil to below recommended levels. Tim and Shane at AAMCO were more than glad to fix the issues under warranty. Took them about a whole work week to fix. Doing some final adjustments to the transmission, as well as installing another whole new clutch system. Since the service, the car has been great. As of writing this updated review, it would be about 2 weeks equivalent of the first service that any issue would have come up. But so far the transmission and clutch has been 100% all the way through. I still give this AAMCO, Tim and Shane the 5 star rating, because working on a task this big, there are bound to be some issues. Being a proactive customer makes sure the issue are not severe. Not only that, Tim and Shane stood behind their work and made sure I was fully taken care of the second time around. Thanks again for getting my Subaru back in the road! ORIGINAL: Recently got my 5-speed manual Subaru Impreza back from a week long transmission rebuild. First time bringing my car into any AAMCO business for transmission work. Tim helped me get my car scheduled and checked in a timely fashion. When information on car came through, Tim gave all the info for the rebuild and answered all my questions about the car and cost of the rebuild. Made the process very quick and understandable. From the paper work Shane was the tech that worked on my car. So far driving feels like a completely new car. Loved the service, thank you AAMCO of Mesa!

After having ran an auto repair shop for five years in Phoenix the last thing I want to do is have to write a negative review. This can not be helped. Our Dodge truck had the transmission light come on so my husband took it to AMMCO for diag. Then we were told it would have to be taken apart to check everything before we "jumped into a tranny".... so, we thought okay, at least they are making sure. Next, it might just be the torque convertor because all else checks out fine. Then, no...the tranny has to be replaced. We were told of three options and my husband said we would talk it over but IF we went with any, it would be option A: 12 month warranty. In the mean time I got ahold of other shops I have worked with and found out it was $1800.00 out the door with a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty so we decided to go that route and save! AAMCO wanted 3300.00 to do this. When we went to settle with the shop and pick up our truck to take it and have the work done somewhere else, we were informed that they had already started the repairs (without any ok to do any work other than diag)!! STUCK! Long story short, one day out of shop, $ 2200.00 of financing and $500.00 cash later--- they MIS DIAGNOSED our tranny and it needed an ECM, NOT A TRANNY!! I do NOT feel we should have to pay this financing back due to the misdiagnosing of the problem in the first place! I will NOT go here again, nor will I ever send anyone! All around shady expierence!

I had a 2000 Suburban and in the 6 years that i have owned it i had to rebuilt the transmission 3 times i tow a boat but other than that i maintain my vehicle very well, the last time my trani burned out i didnt trust anybody to fix it the two previous shops that rebuilt the trani before assured me that they were putting premuim parts in and were paid extra money to do so a friend recommended me to Tony at The Amco in mesa on country club I was skeptical because of my previous experience when i talked to tony and told him about my other two experiences he assured me that if he built my trani my problem would be solved once and for all he then took me to the back and introduced me to Jerry the head builder the both told me that they would call me when they took the trani apart and offered to show was previously done. I was shown that the other shops did not put any updates or did they replace parts that should have been replaced. Tony promised that they would built my trani right with better parts and quality components, they also offered me a three year maintenance program at no charge and repaired an exhaust leak at no charge. they charged me excatly what they quoted me. What a great experience to find and honest shop. I would recommend this Aamco to anybody Thank you Tony and Jerry for all your graet work and service.

Wow, Where to begin. I brought car into because of a transmission problem (the free check). Of course they said they could not fully check it with out taking the transmission out for like $500. (so much for the free check lol), I said ok. They tell me after 5 days that I need a new transmission. I ask how much they say around $4,000. I said are you sure and that would fix the problem they said oh yes and you would have a 3 year 30,0000. mile warranty. I said how long will it take they said one week. Three weeks go buy I finally get the call my car is done. I pay for it and take my car not even two blocks and I cant drive it. I bring it back and they say they will have to look at it again. I said how long is this going to take because it is doing the something I brought it in for???? He said 24 hours max. One week goes buy and I get a call that there not sure what the problem is now!!! They say maybe a transmission computer but not sure and it is going to cost me more money!! Well I have now called the Attorney generals office and they have worked with my to find a Consumer law Attorney and they are investigating them. I do have a active law suit pending on them. The Attorney Generals office even started " They fixed the damage that the problem caused but not the problem" Unreal is all I can say!!

I dont trust this shop. I went in today to have my car worked on and Tony tried to scare me into services. He tried to tell me that my car only had 1st Gear, however, I had been driving it all over town, including backing into parking spots without trouble so that was an obvious lie, he also tried to tell me my car was in Fail Safe Mode, and that if I continued to drive it, it would break down within the next two days. When I told him I had to work and could not leave my car there he arrogantly said "I think a rental car is only $30 a day" and defaulted to saying "Itll probably break down on you before then (two days later) and its a 110 out there, you dont want to get stranded." Furthermore, he was RUDE to a person on the phone, he said in almost direct Quote "Who is this? No, who is this because you dont speak English very well. You shouldnt be answering the phone if you dont know English well." I also noticed signs that said if you gave them a good review before you left theyd give you a free oil change, some people can be bought. I honestly do not like Tony and dont trust a company that has to buy good publicity. Took my car to another transmission shop.
