I took my 2003 Saturn Ion to Sun Devil Auto on Ray road off of the 10 freeway on Saturday November 8th,2014. I took my car in to get diagnosed due to the fact that it wasnt running properly and showed signs of misfiring. I payed for the diagnosis and was told that the car needed a new ignition coil, a coil pack, and new spark plugs. When i received this quote i told Dave ,who was helping me ,that i didnt have the money for the repairs at the time and that i would need to come back monday, because i had to be at work on saturday and they are closed on sundays, and either get it towed back home on monday or see what other options i could take in getting it repaired. In the meantime on Sunday i researched how much the coils would cost and found that i was being overcharged upwards of 500. The coil pack online can be found for 80 and the ignition coil can be found for about 80-85 also, they were about to charge me over 500 for those two items alone. Because of the research i performed i called another local mechanic and he stated reasonable prices for parts and labor so i decided i would take the car to him to get fixed. I returned to sun devil auto monday evening and spoke to the manager and stated that i was their to tow my car elsewhere for repairs, he said ok and walked me over to my car. I put the key in and it started rough as it did before and didnt want to shift as lurched it over to the tow truck. I towed it to the other mechanics place of business and had him fix it. He showed me the parts he was taking off and also what was being replaced and gave me advice on future maintenance. I was pleased and rode home happy. It is now Tuesday morning and i receive a call from Dave at SunDevil Auto once again, Dave states on the phone that when i picked up the car he had put new parts in their to test and that he didnt know i was going to pick it up, i stated that i never authorized, signed off on, gave permission, or was ever alerted at any time that this was to be done, especially since when i turned on the car to get on the tow truck the same problems are occurring. Dave stated that i needed to bring the car back in so he can get the supposed parts off, that nobody knew about, back off. I stated to him that was not going to happen because i had already taken the car elsewhere and it had been fixed. So now after all this has happened hes stating that i need to bring the parts that he states were put in back. This simply cannot happen because i was never informed of this and was never charged for these things and when i went to pick up the car with the tow truck it was still having the same problems. I cant trust that anything SunDevil Auto says and I cant believe anything was put in, and now im being harassed to bring back parts that were never authorized or even permitted to be put in at all after i had my car fixed elsewhere. I was never handed a receipt for any separate work or parts and I left freely with manager right there never once saying anything of the supposed parts being put in. This all sounds very fishy on SunDevil Autos part and I cant trust them on any terms, and I will not accept this unprofessional way of trying to conduct business or the way in which they are trying to swindle me afterwards!

As I am reading reviews... I am seeing both good and bad reviews. I personally have been with Sun Devil Auto for many years now, sometimes I get upset, and sometimes I dont...The deal is no matter where you go there are going to be a variety of different issues we encounter as consumers, whether its with higher pricing, costumer service, a wrong diagnosis....The people at Sun Devil Auto are doing their job. They do their best to maintain the company policy and mission. I feel that regardless of their prices, they do a fabulous job completing their work timely, efficiently, and of quality. If for some reason there is a mistake (Which there will be anywhere...We are all human... the employees make mistakes and arent perfect) they always fix it and honor their work, warranties, etc. I am extremely proud to take my vehicle into this place for a number of reasons..... I know if there are issues I would be upset over that they always try their best to fix it , (because a car is a machine/computer...and they do break even after fixed)... that is reasonable to their customers and while also abiding by company policy. Thank you Sun Devil for your service to our family and quality of work you provide us!

Please do me favor Do not go there for an oil change. They have the worst customer service. When I walk in to see if there is an opening, the manager there rolled his eyes and shakedown his head appearing very disgusted as if I have committed a sin for asking for the same day appointment. I ask for the price of oil change, then when I came in the next day they inflated the price. So I ask them if they could give a discount. The manager immediately got so upset and said the company does not care about the oil change business because he said the money is small and is not worthwhile to them. He kicks me out saying if I want discount, I should go to walmart. I am not the first and wont be the last customer who desires same day service or asks for discount. These are common customer questions. But the manager has too much pride and he should know how to deal with customers better in a nondefensive ways. He is so arrogant saying the oil change business is not worthwhile to him he said he rather do repair at much greater amount. Well I guess I can tell everyone now that do not go to this shop for oil change.

They do have a very friendly staff, but way over priced. Was quoted $151.46 for two bolts(not counting labor). Came to find out they are $2.79 each at the dealership. I told the dealership how much they tried to charge me, he said, "Ill put those bolts in your car for free. That is just being taken advantage of someone in a bad situation". I was so great-full that he offered, but I did have several other issues that needed to be taken care of(wished that was the only problem). So I decided to price and match everything, and almost everything was exactly double or more on each part. Thats one hell of a mark-up. I took my car into four places, and the most expensive(Dealership) one was still $395 cheaper that what they were charging me. All the places said they would need the car for two or three days tops(ordering parts), not five or more. I finally found someone that would do it for almost half I was quoted there. I do recommend shopping around before you have any work done at this place. Its a great place for oil changes, and a very friendly staff, but thats pretty much it.
