I had to have my kitchen drain cleaned out. The sink was very slow in draining and my dishwasher was squirting water out of the air gap instead of draining into the garbage disposal. My service technician, Marcus Oliver, was right on time at the beginning of the time window. He promptly got to work after listening to my problem. He snaked the outside clean-out drain opening and got the sink to drain a little faster; then he used a wet/dry vacuum cleaner to suck out a lot of grease from the pipes under the sink. The pipes were ABS and glued together so in order to try to clean them by taking them apart would have involved cutting them apart. Needless to say, I didnt want the hassle and expense of doing that- sucking out the gunk was a much better way. Then, after that we found the dishwasher was still shooting water out of the air gap. Marcus snaked the drainage pipe from the washer to the disposal and the air line to the washer. He did that a few times but no luck. He suggested changing the air gap, said he had seen it done before and even though the air gap looked OK, it worked. Well, I wasnt sure that would work but what the heck, why not try since the part was $10-. By this time, he had spent almost 2 hours on the work. I went to Home Depot for the part, he went to lunch and then came back to install the new part. Hey, it worked, I couldnt be happier. I had visions of more costs to fix it or replace the dishwasher. Marcus went out of his way to fix the problem and kept at it until I was happy. I think you have a very conscientious and dedicated employee in Marcus. I will definitely use Roto Rooter again and will keep Marcus in mind if I have plumbing needs again.

Nov 15, 2015 update: I was contacted by a Roto Rooter manager (on the telephone, not email) one week after my experience. I was asked to share my issues in that conversation. At the end of my explanation, I was offered a full refund. The manager was going to discuss the issue with the service person, and apologized for not getting the job done to my satisfaction. I am adding another star, to my initial 3 stars, because Roto Rooter took it upon themselves to seek a fair resolution. I was told the refund would appear on my credit card on Monday and I have verified the credit. I appreciate the timely response. One star for a 4 hour window provided on the same day service, a Saturday. One start for calling an hour ahead of arrival, as promised. One star for being courteous and accepting the $40 online coupon and extending an additional $10 discount afterwards. Minus one star for saying that the clean out blade hit "dirt" and that our aging sewer pipes were probably now offset. A camera was then requested by our serviceman (from another service person/van,) at an additional $160 to the $340 clean-out, which we cancelled, after not feeling that this was the problem. Minus one star for the fact that we hired a different service for a 9am arrival the next day, and he had the root cleared in 23 minutes. Granted he had this great little "pigtail" tool that gouged at the root that, perhaps, our first service technician did not. We have done 3 loads of laundry, ran the dishwasher and showered, and zero back-up. We were not shown the "dirt", but we were shown several chunks of root. No names included because I feel he was working within his guidelines from the franchiser.

Awesome, timely, friendly, and knowledgeable. They saved the day when I called at 7pm on a Friday night of a holiday weekend with a massive sewage backup. Both bathtubs, both toilets, no washer, no dishwasher, almost an epic disaster...mostly a regular disaster that just felt epic at the time. And yet they came Saturday morning, exactly when promised. My tech, Kevin, in particular is a tremendous guy who knows his stuff and is a straight-shooter. Patient and kind, and a good communicator. I wasnt just a job he had to rush to, and rush away from, although Im sure the company was more slammed than ever after two weeks of heavy rains and the holiday weekend ahead. He took the time to answer my questions, responded thoughtfully, didnt rush me through other concerns I had about issues I feared might be related to my original sewage backup. His patience and detective work helped me prevent a boat-load of trouble that would have inevitably happened down the road, and it would have been a ton more expensive if those had been separate calls down the line. He was totally honest about the estimate and the reality. Estimate aligned with how it really turned out! (Also, just a silly bonus, my dog liked him! And you know what they say: if your dog doesnt like someone, you should probably be careful! But they actually liked each other...a good omen from the start!) Overall, I couldnt have been luckier, or happier with the experience. A lot of companies could have taken huge advantage of my situation, especially because of the timing on a long weekend, and they did not! This is a really stand-up company, and Kevin did me a solid with his kindness and hard work.

Whenever I have any plumbing issue, I do not hesitate to call Roto-Rooter. They have been out to my house at least 3 other times, over the years. As we were heading in to the big storms, I called to have somebody come out and tend to a very important sump pump in my basement. I called in the morning of January 5th and they were out there in the afternoon. Just a day or two the latest big storm hit! Jesus E. arrived well within the assigned service window. As with all Roto-Rooter reps he was knowledgeable, professional and answered all of my questions. The existing sump pump was removed, retired to be used as a back up. Jesus took a new one, which I had ordered, and took care of all of the necessary fittings. He also made sure to test that it was working correctly. I went through the weekend storms with peace of mind. As always, their work is guarantee and an online discount coupon was honored. Thank you again, Roto Rooter

I have used Roto-Rooter for years in servicing my septic line from the house to the tank with good results and prompt service. This last service was dismal. The service truck came an hour after the 45 minute window and then the service man determined he needed another man who arrived another hour later. Although the service was done and the line cleared, it appeared to take twice as long as in the past. Total time from actual arrival to departure was 2 and 1/2 hours. On top of that the total bill was twice what was paid one year ago, primarily because the first service man claimed he could not wheel the unit reamer to the pump-out by himself. In the past that has never been a problem. The service personnel were pleasant but obviously constrained by the absurd pricing of the RR management.

called for an emergencey plumber. The dispatch said they could out with in 3hrs of my call. Then I received a call over an hour later saying they cant come out for 2 days!! Whats the point of having emergency plumbers if they cant come out when emergencies happen. so I had them transfer me to a manager he said someone would be at my house with in the hour. they sent someone out and all he did for me was an estimate. what a waste of time!!!!! I have now been stuck with no water for 3 hours with 4 kids and family over. our water is off so we cant use the bathroom or shower. I will never use this company and if you call them to come out dont expect them to fix anything they will just give an estimate and reschedule someone to come out a different day! if I could give 0 star I would.
