Weve maintained a storage locker at this location for 2+ years, having already moved from our first (and smallest) unit into a larger unit, both indoors/upstairs. Now weve got even more stuff to store, so we need to move yet again to a larger unit. Lets see how this turns out... Facilities: is the facility clean? Do you feel safe there, and do you feel like your belongings are secure? > The facility is clean; the office is tidy, and a sweeper vehicle was driving between the buildings on the day we were there. The grounds are accessible only through 2 keycoded gates, and the units close tightly w/ a lock of your own choosing, so I feel that security is an issue well addressed. As advertised: did the product and service level live up to your expectations? > The latest unit weve rented is 10x15, and the onsite staff made it very easy for us to put a hold on this unit as we arranged to close-out our current unit onsite. Professional assistance: was the staff available, knowledgeable, and friendly? Did they respond to your questions and requests for assistance? > The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. All questions were answered definitively. One snafu occurred when we first opened our new storage unit; its a downstairs/outside locker, and upon first inspection, the floor was very dusty, including dustbunnies, etc (always a risk w/ outside units). I requested a broom so that I could sweep before bringing in items to store, and the ofc mgr said hed sweep the unit himself; we were grateful for this, as it would allow us to immediately begin moving out of the current unit. However, when we arrived at the new unit, it had not yet been swept, so I had to go back to the ofc mgr and ask again for a broom, at which point I did sweep the unit floor. It turns out, that between my ofc visits, another renter backed his RV into an external light fixture onsite, so the mgrs time was taken in that direction instead of sweeping the unit, as promised. Its understandable, so I didnt mind. Convenience: is the facility conveniently located? Is it easy to get in and out with your vehicle, and to load and unload your belongings? > The facility is located just off of Vasco Rd, which is several miles from where we live, so your notion of "conveniently located" may vary, but it is located just off of 580 at the Vasco Rd exit, so that part is convenient. Once onsite, the lanes between buildings are pretty wide, so navigating your vehicle should be fairly easy. And regarding loading/unloading belongings, its always easier to load/unload w/ an outside unit than it is w/ an inside/upstairs unit. Climate control: if you rented a climate controlled unit, did it perform as you expected? > We did not rent a climate controlled unit, so cannot speak on that. Our unit always ran as hot or cold as the days temperatures; I imagine our new outside unit will run very hot during hot summer days. Availability: was there a storage unit available that met your space requirements at a competitive price? > Yes. Our new 10x15 unit is priced comparable to a smaller space at another storage facility wed previously employed in Livermore, so we are pleased w/ that. Additional products & services: if you needed packing or moving supplies, or other types of support for your specific circumstances, were they met? > Other than use of the onsite handcarts, we did not require other support, but plenty of packing/moving supplies were available from the onsite ofc store. All in all, were pleased w/ the service and value at Extra Space Storage. Hopefully, tho, we wont be needing to move to yet another larger space anytime soon! :-)

The storage place is awesome, clean with a good locations. The customer communication could use some work. The employees themselves were nice but the communicate was poor. Prior to renting a space i talked to representatives three separate times, making a reservations, confirming the reservation and asking for general instructions on what i needed and not once did someone mention i needed proof of insurance day of. Of course my homeowners insurance covers the storage unit but since i didnt have a copy on me during my walk through i was required to get insurance through them for an extra fee. Within an hour of finishing my first walk through i emailed over my insurance information and was not reimbursed for the second insurance i was required to get through them. It was a small fee so its nothing to get upset over but a heads up would have been nice since i asked a couple times what i needed and not once was it mentioned. Also, not to be nit picky but i stopped by the office at 2pm on a Thursday and their was a sign saying they would be back at 2:45pm. No problem there but when i came back at 2:45pm there where 3 people working in the office... not sure why there couldnt be round the clock coverage if there are 3 people working in the office.

I have used two other storage companies and found the Extra Space Storage representative to be the most friendly and helpful. It was his first week on the job, so he was a bit nervous, but he figured things out. He was able to assist me with finding a correctly sized storage space. The facility is located off of North Vasco Road, out of the way, but easily accessible. I like the hours of access, 6 am to 10 pm, which works around my work schedule. The facility is very clean. The hallways and storage spaced appeared to have never been used. The roll-up door is in good shape and is easily opened. The only issue I found was the lip in the cement at the front entrance to the storage building. When you have a cart full of stuff and you are attempting to navigate the cart over the lip, you are lucky to keep the stuff from falling off of the cart. I understand the lip was placed there to keep the water from entering the building, but it’s really annoying.

Im not a person who likes doing reviews in fact I hate them. But I just received the best customer service in a long time and its definitely worth the time to write up a review. I am doing a project in Virginia and needed some assistance in getting a storage unit in advance before the project start date. These ladies were more than helpful, patience, delightful and accommodating. Both have outstanding humor and excellent customer service a great benchmark for the organization. We shared a couple of laughs and stories all the while speaking with the Customer Service rep (Angel) in Virginia who Ill be doing a review for also. I will highly recommend storing your items if you are in the Livermore area with these ladies. Ive been using this extra space storage for years now. Making payments has always been easy for me (I have an automatic online withdrawal every month) and the price is good. I have the additional insurance on the space, too, although Im not sure how much difference that actually makes. Ive had limited interaction with the rental people as I havent had any need for their help. The only thing that would make this facility easier would be having the gate code on the drivers side of the car so that you didnt have to get in and out of the car to open the gates. Clean facility. Easy to get to. Near the freeway.
