Unprofessional- I had to send a latter package to overseas using their Global Express Guaranteed system. I had a valid and accurate address for the recipient as well as their internationally accepted postal code. A middle aged woman worker says that their system does not recognize the postal code that I provided. Per instruction of this woman, I stepped out of the office and used my smartphone to confirm that the postal code was correct. I came back to wait in the line again, and then told her that the code was correct. She goes to the system again just to find their system does not recognize it. She says that FedEx (which carries those mails internationally) may have a different code system. Since I did not have an access to such, I asked her to look it up using the address I provided. The recipient address is not a “middle of nowhere” but in the heart of Tokyo. She says she cannot do such and gets personal by raising her voice… I mean, with a customer providing a valid and detailed address, the post-office worker cannot find a way to ship the item out, and just gets angry while I stay reasonable and calm… I gave up and went to an UPS office in the next building, where they were able to complete the shipment within a minute with no issues. I called up the manager of the post-office, who admits that I am not the only one who had such issues, and they have a problem in their computer system, which they plan to address in a near future. … I bet she must have known this. I just did not see anything professional in what she says or does.

Giving two stars - only because there has been some polite treatment when going to the the Mill Valley Blithedale Ave. Post Office itself. But... the review should have been one star due to unreliable package deliveries. Sometimes the delivery happens, then suddenly it stops and the Sorry We Missed You form is left in the mailbox with the printed track number unreadable and untrackble. Going online and submitting a redelivery is ignored. Calling the Mill Valley office either has a busy signal or, as was the case another time... someone did pick up, but then tried to get me to drive to pick the large package up and was rude when I stated that no, I paid a delivery fee for a reason. I now try to order from companies that use UPS instead of USPS just so I dont have to go through the hassle of dealing with USPS - this is not always possible of course. Hopefully enough reviews will inspire USPS to improve their service.

I would give this Post Office a -10 if I could! I have a store in downtown Mill Valley. We have a different mail carrier every day, that is assuming they bother to come by at all, half of the carriers cant find it. If I have a package forget about it. They dont want the hassle of delivering packages downtown so they often dont get delivered for days. If you try and call the Post Office to complain they either dont answer the phone or take it off the hook. If you do manage to reach someone they just inform you that the carrier assigned to your root is on permanent disability so instead of assigning a new regular carrier they use subs every day. This has been going on for two years! Yesterday the mail carrier brought me my mail, he said had a package for me and would bring it in the next hour I closed 7 hours later and he never returned! Dont our tax dollars pay for this???

The counter staff appear to be drones. They have a dialogue to recite and theres no stopping them from the entire litany of questions. When Ive prefaced the question & answer period with a statement that I dont want any other goods, services, or stamps, they ignore me and continue prattling on. When Ive stated that the US Postmaster General has rescinded the General Order that they ask all these questions they ignore me and keep asking away. Its crazy. Ive seen only 2 people working the counter, with a line of 10 or more people backed up out the door and into the lobby, but the drones keep droning. I suspect its to discourage folks from coming to the counter and to use the auto postage kiosk instead. Its certainly faster.

I recently received a package that was oversized for my mailbox and yet it was forced to fit inside. I had an extremely difficult time pulling it out because I didnt want to cause any further damage to the package. When I finally got it out, the box and packaging material were badly crushed. I dreaded opening the box in case there was any damage to the item inside. Fortunately, everything was intact. I still want to send a cautionary note to all USPS carriers that ALL PARCELS SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH CARE. NEVER FORCE A PARCEL that clearly doesnt fit into the mailbox, instead, leave it on the front doorstep. Thank you for reading this.

Id like to write a good review, but cant There are just too many issues. The counter always appears to be understaffed. Hardly ever more than 2 windows open even with a line out the door. The self-service package station appears to be the only one in Marin, and yet during the holidays it was not working. Also, I found out that when you put packages into the self-serve bin, they are not scanned into the system so they cannot be tracked even if you pay for tracking. Issues seem to be systemic with the entire postal service, but some can probably be attributed to the local management as well. Too sad.

The phone at the post office has a busy signal 24/7 so dont bother calling. Our mail carrier is unstable. Our street has experienced multiple mail thefts so 7 households collectively upgraded to locking boxes. This required a complete overhaul of the structure to hold the boxes which initially was not done to PO code. Instead of leaving a note to that affect, our mail carrier decided to place an immediate hold on the mail of 7 households....as if having thieves wasnt enough trouble. The structure was corrected in 24 hours and were still chasing down the whereabouts of our mail.

Great PO except for never answering a phone. As a frequent customer, sometimes I need to ask or tell something to them by phone regarding my mail. Many negative reviewers are blaming the PO employees for things they dont control. They arent responsible for system rules or malfunctions. They are, in fact, far superior in knowledge and patient, polite service, to most PO employees Ive met in other branches. Imagine that you had to serve Marin people all day long.

Sorry we missed you!? Ive been home all day for the second day in a row. I checked online and it says they "attempted a delivery" and that I should "look for a notice" but there is no notice. Scheduling a redelivery does absolutely nothing. Why pay for 2 day shipping!? This is a recurring issue; sometimes packages show up on time, sometimes they dont. This time it cost me money.

Horrible, horrible post office. I had a package containing chocolate delivered to me from Santa Barbara. The tracking said it was delivered to my front door at 11:11 am, but I was home all day and it WAS NOT delivered. They just flat-out lied. Now I have to go to the post office and try to track it down. And no doubt the product will be completely ruined.
