Ive been to this post office many times and usually there is always a big line, so I just let the horribly slow service roll off cuz its the closest to my house and I dont have a car. Today there was no one before me and I was the first costumer, and I was happy until I had the same guy as usual. Usually the same two people working there. I was shipping international and he explained the risk of this and I said I understand and still wanna ship it. He decided to get super negative on me mailing something expensive overseas and then sudden try telling me I cant mail it without tracing priority, then kept bringing things up to stop me from doing it. Then I firmly told him his not being helpful about me trying to ship this item the best way possible no matter how much it costs. He then last minute decided to not authorize my item telling me I need some approval but would not tell me how to go about it and what it even was. I had papers signed up and everything ready to mail and of idea there ended up being a huge line behind me because of it. He then basically kept telling me to go to fed ex and mail something that could have been done there. He didnt wanna deal with it and was just the most negative and unhelpful service Ive ever received. By the way, he knew I was on a limited time and didnt have time to go to fed ex. This time was the last straw for me and I will take the bus and go out of my way to go elsewhere.

Hope you dont have a package that needs to be signed for being delivered to your home while youre at work. I had a package sent to me from Florida with electronics in it. They attempted to delivery the package a week and a half ago. I got the notice, signed it and checked the box for them to leave it on the doorstep. I have not seen the package nor I have I seen another delivery attempt notice. This post office is known to have poor service and lines out the door to get to the counter to talk with someone. They will not answer the phone if you call to check on your package either. I work in the city during the normal operating hours of the post office and cant get there to get my package. Im completely frustrated that I cant get in contact with anyone and have no idea if the package will be delivered or not.

The staffers here are the sweetest in the world, but have been hit hard by the cutbacks at the USPS. When one of the few employees retired, they did not replace him. However, those that remain work doubly hard and try to move the lines as quickly as possible. Not always possible at lunch and near holidays. I hope that with all the e-commerce now using the USPS, this poor outlet will get a break and be given some more staffers. Theyve talked of closing it, which would leave downtown San Rafael without a branch. So instead of bashing, we should be lobbying for this branch! They might not be as fast as one would like (and I would know), but they are super nice and trying their best in a difficult situation.

I had my mail held and when I picked it up they gave me someone elses held mail as well as my own. When I asked for a direct phone number to this post office I was given what turned out to be a fax #! The 800 # had a wait time of one hour!
