I am making it a point to leave a review for the Oxnard Post Office C. Street Location. I am the type of person who will flake out on leaving a positive review of a place sometimes. I think its because my motivation for leaving a negative review would be higher than leaving a positive one, as my personality is not generally that of a happy go lucky type guy. I am typically a cynical and somewhat dark-natured individual. My experience with this post office was very good. I did not go into this most recent experience which was earlier in the week, with a lot of optimism. Mostly because all the reviews of this post office online are bad. When I saw they are all bad I mean 99 percent of the reviews are 2 stars or less. People do not like this post office or its employees overwhelmingly. My experience with them however, was first rate. I had lost my mail box keys. So I needed to replace the lock on my mailbox and get new keys for that. It cost 85.00 for everything, which kind of upset me, but then ultimately it was an expensive lesson in paying better attention to my belongings like keys and wallets. The postal worker I had to deal with was very friendly and courteous. She was efficient and knew her job and I was fortunate also in that my neighbor went with me, and was able to assist me because of my hearing loss. There was minimal waiting in lines as well, and we went right after they opened. Also for 85.00 I got 3 mail box keys. Not 2 like I was told but 3. That is, I think, a good deal for something like that. I mean it is not cheap but it is a fair price and there was no down time on getting my mail or anything like that either. This post office is trying to do better. When I was taking care of the mailbox key thing another postal worker came over to where I was standing at, and asked if everything was being taken care of and if I needed any other assistance from him or anything. It was a very good experience for me because I liked seeing the U.S. Post Office in a good light, and frankly speaking I have not seen it like that in a long time. I want to give the Post Office on C. St. in Oxnard props too because I can definitely tell they are trying to do better and I think they have improved substantially since the last time I was in there a little over a year ago, so good job on you guys!!

I can only give it 3 stars as my experience over with their representatives at the actual location was actually pretty good. I forgot to bring my ID which they needed when I went to ask about a package that I was notified was delivered but I never received, hooked me up anyhow. Almost always they deliver packages straight to my door when it wont fit in my mailbox or parcel unit. The "almost always" is why I cant give a full 5 review. A very incompetent and careless postal worker actually left 2 of my packages out in the open in the area of my mailbox when it wouldnt fit in my mailbox or parcel unit. I live in a residency where all the mailboxes are together in little units and everybody has their own little mailbox. On top of that little rack of mailboxes, one of my neighbors found my packages just sitting there. Yes, packages as in multiple, 2 to be more specific but 2 is 2 too many. Thank god for their kindness and Im 95% sure nothing was stolen as why would you see some packages sitting out in the open and only take some? You would take all of them, right? You dont know whats inside any of them. So why would you test your luck on the offside chance that maybe you grabbed the one that has really good goodies inside instead of just taking all of them? And my neighbors? I dont really know them that well but they seem ok, I guess. Hopefully they didnt keep any of my packages or imma have to pay them a visit, getting off topic. What did it cost the dude to walk or drive the few feet from my mail box to my house and just leave it on the porch step? Theyve done that before, theyve knocked and hand delivered it to me which is awesome and they have also just left it at my door which is also fine. But no, this was all due to incompetence or carelessness or maybe both. Maybe he set it on top to get some mail outta his truck and planned on getting it to my door but forgot or maybe just ran outta time because he was behind on his deliveries or had to get back to end his shift. Whatever the reason, it better not become a regular thing and...well cmon its just common sense. Why would you leave someones personal belonging out in the open for anyone to take? Makes no sense.

I honestly do not understand why people leave such negative reviews about this place. First off, its a United States Post Office. So obviously, their office is going to follow the same time schedules and availability as every other post office in the United states. That being said, I have always found the employees at this particular office to go out of their way to help, even if it meant staying open 10 minutes late so I could pick up a package they were holding for me. I just called the office and told them I was super sorry for running late but was on my way and the gentleman said no problem. I got there 10 minutes after their normal closing time and was still treated with professional courtesy. Also, the conjoining p.o. box area has its own entry door and Quick Ship Kiosk which is open 24/7. And although there is only one machine, I have never had to wait more than 20 minutes to use it, even during the holidays. I think people who leave poor reviews for places like this really need to remember that the world does not revolve around them and that postal workers are people too. Instead of being so judmental, try being more understanding and considerate. Bottomline: A+ Postal Service location!

Review is for passport services. Highly recommend the extra drive to the Van Nuys Mega Passport Office. First time went to the Oxnard location. Was there 30 minutes before the office opened and was around 18th in line. Took over an hour to process the first four people. the entire time everyone else had to wait outside. Left after that. Next weekend went to the Van Nuys Passport office. Was out the door in approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes(arrived 5 minutes AFTER opening time, and was around 12th in line). Used the stopwatch on my phone, and between 2 employees, it took an average of 6 minutes and 20 seconds to process each applicant. You wait inside and have seating while you wait. When I left about an hour later, twice the amount of people were waiting outside, so recommend going when it opens. A huge difference between these two locations is the commodities provided. While both locations did not provide public restrooms, the Van Nuys location has indoor seating, outdoor covered seating and vending machines.

Id give zero stars if it was an option. I have lived in this area for almost a year, and the whole time Ive lived here, my mail carrier has never delivered any packages that Ive been expecting. Usually, mail carriers leave a note in your mailbox saying that they attempted to deliver your package. But not in this area. They have never left me a notice about attempting to deliver packages. And when I go into the post office to pick up my package and I tell them that the carrier never left a note, they dont believe me and they give me grief about trying to find my packages. I am absolutely done with this. Its gotten so bad that Im moving to another area where I know the postal services are somewhat competent. Avoid using USPS for packages if you want to receive your parcels on time, or even know that they attempted to deliver to you. Stick with UPS or FedEx.
