Today(08-05-17) at about 1:30pm I arrived at this location(the Palm Desert location, off Hovely) to pay postage, and mail out a letter. The letter was an anniversary letter to my fiance, who was to be out of town on the actual date of our anniversary. I wanted to mail the card and letter to the place she was going to be staying at, that way she would have a surprise when she gets there. However, her travel dates changed literally minutes after I dropped off the letter. I went straight back to the office after I found out(about 20 minutes later) to retrieve my letter so I could give it to her on our anniversary. I spoke to one employee, who decided to ask me why it was necessary for me not to send the letter, she asked "well...Whats wrong with the letter", with a disgusted look on her face. I began to tell her why, but then realized they had no right to ask me that, as it has no bearing on me getting my letter back. The fact remains, I own that letter, it was in the facility, so if I ask for possession of it, I am legally entitled to it. The reason why I want possession of my own belongings is none of their business. They have no right to retain my postage without due cause. The employee and her coworkers then decided to say things like "we dont typically do that, sorry", and proceeded to stare at me blankly, while making no effort to help me. I am furious, there is an excellent reason this location has 1 star; Because the people working there should not be employees of the US Postal Service, or any other costumer service job. Deeply disappointed in the lack of professional and personal courtesy the employees at the Palm Desert Hovley office possess. My account, plus the countless others here, is a testament to this fact, and a testament that the leadership in that office is failing. Higher action needs to be taken, and an official complaint with the US Postal Service will be logged. Theres a reason USPS is suffocating, and private carriers are thriving. . . this is it.

I ha da really crappy experience recently at this office. I paid $50 for 2-day shipping and arranged a carrier pickup online. My carrier scanned the SCAN form, then left the box on my porch! It was still there 24 hours later when I came home! I had to take it to the post office myself (yeah, he didnt get it the next day either). My package was now LATE. On top of that, instead of an apology, a manager from that office called to tell me that the postal carrier did pick it up, but somehow it ended up back at my house (a LIE, as he never scanned he box itself, so there was no movement recorded in their system). When I pointed out the box hadnt MOVED and still had the same little pile of leaves around it that had been there the day before, he said hed ask the carrier again. I never heard back, and I paid $50 for my package to be delivered on Monday, rather than the Friday it was meant for. But the outright LIES were the worst. I will never again use this office if I can possibly help it and I certainly dont trust carrier pick up anymore!

this place is a joke. my packages never get delivered! and if they do, they are sent to the wrong address! what is wrong with you people?! what are you!? high!!?? so many of my packages are sent to the wrong address or just withheld at the post office making me go out of my way to get them! its your job to deliver my mail!! i dont even get the attempted delivery slip! i have lived in san diego county and orange county in very busy cities and have never had these problems. this is just palm desert with a very small population. how are you people even screwing this up!? never have i ever had such a horrible experience with a post office. i check the tracking number and it says its been delivered to my inbox. guess what? no package. and seeing from other reviews i am not the only one. such disregard, such carelessness, you people make me sick.

Sir: I have a bad experience and was hoping it wont happen to anybody. I mailed a birthday card to my daughter a week before her birthday which is June 11,2015. With the card I enclosed cash of$50.00, I did that rather than a check so she can have access to it right away. She never got the card up to now. She waited and I waited thinking that it might have gone to a different mailbox and will show up one of this days , but never did. She lives in a very exclusive neighborhood in Granite Bay, CA.95746.I am not pointing fingers to any body in particular but I hope voicing out my experience will at least help. I dropped off a regular mail in a drop box, the receipt still had not gotten out. It has been 7 working days. Call the number attached to the palm desert location. Waited on hold for 45 minutes, got the stupid 800 number. Which couldnt help me. I needed a tracking number, which regular mail does not have. They were going to give me that number, but after waiting on hold that location is closed. I live in Ontario and cant just drive down there tho see what happened. Now the recipient is not happy and blames me. VERY VERY UNHAPPY

Mail carrier did not take the outgoing mail for two days so on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 I called their phone from 1:26 pm to 3:34 pm. It was busy all that time.So I called the Portola USPS location and their phone just rang and rang during the same time frame. Its like they did not want anyone to contact them. Both locations need to improve their service.

Incompetent!!!! Nothing ever gets delivered on time. Even re delvers are not showing up when re scheduled. If one calls the main number for the location where the package is being held , no one answers and if they pick up you get dropped, forget any thing being followed through on the Main USPS number. Good luck using this service!!

WTF! Worst post office ever! Old equipment. Cant even process my debit card with dated swiper.employees that dont give a f--k.I hope people pay attention to how bad a GOVERNMENT run business truly is.particularly this one.I cant bare to think of how other government entities are run that have no association with the public.

I have spent more time trying to get answers from this post office. They keep refusing mail addressed to me that comes in to be sorted there for some reason and sending it back to the sender. Never in my life have I had this problem. I have lived at my address for over two years and this is a constant issue.

the super visor is didnt do her job right and she hold me on the phone for 25 minutes and the item that I sent has not been delivered to Turkey for 70 days and I sent them on May 2nd 2017 and it not been delivered and that is not acceptable and I regret sending my item through this post office.
