I almost never write reviews but feel obligated to put in a few words to recommend the crew at Nielsen, ie., dave, jeff et al (no German makes though). We live in the same town and are really fortunate to have them take care of our 17-year old Lexus LS for many years - in fact, the only reason why we keep the car for so long. To make a long story short on how we came upon Nielsen: After the original factory warranty period ended the car had a second "starter" issue in 3 years and the dealer told us it should be replaced again. Note for the LS replacing the starter is a big job because of its awkward location. Skeptical we swallowed the diagnostic fee to seek a second opinion and looked up Nielsen - who determined, correctly, that it was just a bad battery. That was 60K miles ago and we have stayed with them since. We all know good (and honest) auto shops are very precious. Nielsen should be on your list.

I really like the Nielsens people, been bringing cars here for twenty years. They do most mechanical work and can refer you elsewhere for things like front-end alignment that they dont do. And theyve gotten the repairs done right the first time about 95% of the time. Best part is these people are as honest and hard-working as you will ever find in the car business, just exceptional in how they treat customers. They are less than half the price of a car dealership and never charge you for unnecessary work. Not a fancy place, waiting room is pretty sad but there are lots of coffee/cafe places on nearby Laurel Street. Call for an appointment, which will be quick for tire problems/oil/lube stuff and up to 1-2 weeks for brakes/engine/etc.

Ive been going to Niesen for nearly 20 years, and am totally happy here. Gas pump is 24 hour. Staff is nice and professional. Owners know me (and many others) by name. Excellent place to have major work or oil change done. Also, theyll install tires if you order them through TireRack. A good, trustworthy mechanic is hard to find, and I trust my car to the staff here. As mentioned, they are good which means busy, so book ahead for major service or a few days out for oil change. Great to have a local business like this in San Carlos. Keep up the great work!

I had an appointment for 11:00am. I drove up at 10:55am and they were already unwrapping my new tires and getting them ready for me. The mechanics waived me right into the garage as soon as they saw my car coming. They said theyd be done in 45-60 minutes, but were done in 40 minutes. I spoke with 2 different younger mechanics and both were extremely courteous. I was so satisfied with my visit that I gave the mechanics a tip because I am sure they dont make what they deserve. Thanks, Nielsen, I will definitely come back.

Awesome experience, today was my first time here at Nielsen. My tire was low, I asked for help and the tire that was low, come to find out had a small nail in it. The attendant fixed it there and then. I was done within 10 minutes! I am a fan and will make this my go to place. Thank you nice people at Nielsen. What a gem this business is!

Great family run business Chris & Jeff are great guys .old fashion gas station with a full service option. You can even get FREE air to fill your tires. Which is unheard of . And Chirs offers fresh eggs from his ranch.
