The worst customer service experience Ive ever had. Extremely hostile and rude. The manager or on site staff Egbert single handedly ruins my experience in each and every single interaction ive ever had with the facility. All the other staff on site and on the phone were very pleasant. In addition, this storage facility inherently has many problems that makes it the worst storage facility ive ever used. I have used numerous storage facilities across San Francisco over the last 3 years and this would be the worst one Id ever used. Its so shockingly bad that Ive paid for another move just to move my things out of this storage into a different storage facility. Key things Ive encountered that you should be aware of: - the move took about 3 times longer than to any other storage facilities id ever experiences because of a few things: 1. no loading dock for trucks, so youd have to move everything through a narrow passage way that youll share with every single person that comes in and out of the facility 2. there is only one slow elevator for access to all storage units, so you will spend the majority of your move waiting for the elevator 3. storage units are not well placed so youd be in a maze spending a lot of time trying to get to your storage unit and get out, coupled with the one elevator problem, sometimes you may even have to wait for the elevator to take the first load of people ahead of you before you could get in 4. the most out dated facility ive seen so far 5. only has a handful of shockingly heavy, incredibly old trollies. Id never seen these anywhere else and didnt know that this could be an issue. I almost cannot push/pull these as they are incredibly heavy even when empty, and does not maneuver in a straight line. - incredibly unfriendly manager and questionable staff, id never seen a more unfriendly person in the service industry in my experience - hunters point, hunters point clientele - pricing was better by the embarcadero than here...go figure...dont do it - i do not feel safe by myself as a female at this facility - will increase rates automatically, so youll end up paying some of the highest rates ive ever paid for storage id ever seen, so this storage unit would have been only good if i plan to stay for 2 months max - if your payment is delayed by a month, they will remove your access and threaten to sell your stuff to auction. I travel a lot and am late to pay when i forget and id never received anything like that from any storage facilities, generally incredibly unfriendly, maybe they have to be because of their clientele

I recently had the need to rent a storage unit short-term from Self Storage 1 on Egbert - in the Bayview neighborhood. WOW - I was surprised at what a great experience it was. To clarify - Ive had past experiences with other storage unit businesses - and lets just say it wasnt great ... actually, it was horrible. NOT the case at Self Storage. The place is super clean, the team is extremely professional, thorough and pleasant to work with. In my case - the Self Storage team = Carmen. I worked with her on 2 different occasions - and shes at the top of my list!! Her warm and friendly personality, willingness to make the entire process smooth and expedited - and attention to detail are incredible. Now thats the kind of person you want working for you - consistently professional and definitely prioritizes customer service and satisfaction. If all that above wasnt enough - the prices are AWESOME!! They occasionally have specials which save you a TON of cash! They even let you use one of their trucks to help you move in. Other things that stand out - they have rules and they make sure everyone follow them. For those that have rented from other local storage unit businesses - you might have experienced examples where people are living in storage units or perhaps youve rented from places where it seems the floors havent been swept in over a year. My all time favorite experience at another local storage unit--- dealing with dog feces in the hallways, not able to see very well because overhead lights have been burnt out for months (seriously!!) - reporting it to the office manager - and even after 3+ months nothing was done!! The icing on the cake - these horrific places charge more, offer less and then have the nerve to ask you to give them a stellar review online. WTF!!! Youre WILL NOT have that experience at Self Storage - ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I wasnt even asked to provide a review!! I offered because it was such an amazing experience and SO DIFFERENT than my last experience with other storage rental companies. It was crystal clear that other people in the neighborhood or in the city- need to know and support this business. THANK YOU Carmen for such a great experience - it is greatly appreciated!! 5 out of 5 stars for Self Storage! Ive been storing my goods with Self Storage 1 for a few years. Ive rented 3 different size units depending on how much gear I have. Two weeks ago I decided to downsize and look around the Bay Area at other storage companies. Instead of having to haul heavy furniture across the bridge Paul enthusiastically worked with me to find a smaller unit on the same floor at a price that was on par with other companies. Within 30 min. of walking in the door Paul and Jackie had me set up and loaded in a new space. So easy! Self Storage has always had excellent, friendly customer service. Their facilities are spotless and well lit. They have clean bathrooms on site. And if that was not enough, the location is very conveniently located and accessible. I like the locked security gate to enter the premises as that provides me with an extra feeling of safety. I am very pleased with the service at Self Storage 1 and would enthusiastically recommend it!

The team at Self Storage 1 is great! This is my first storage space and I have been so happy with every element of my experience. I was not sure what size unit I needed at first. Carmen graciously showed me a handful of available units until I found the perfect one. I was able to use their truck to move all of my things in, which was super helpful. Every time I stop by, I am greeted with a warm welcome. Everyone is very friendly, nice, and professional. The facilities are well kept and I always feel safe when moving things in and out. Im really glad that I found such a well managed place to store my belongings. Thanks Paul, Jackie, and Carmen! Keep up the good work!

A+ company! This San Francisco facility & its employees exemplify professionalism. I applaud their diligence at maintaining a high, visible level of safety & security for both me & my property. The facility is a clean, neat & well maintained operation. It is only superseded by its staff. The staff has a courteous, business-like, polite, and helpful professional attitude toward their customers. This is extremely refreshing. They make it a comfortable, pleasant place to do business. My reference of the staffs demeanor is not only from my individual experiences, but Ive seen that same performance given to several other customers through the years.
