2012: Excellent experience as always. We take both our cars here and recommend it to all our friends. Service is professional and affordable (on this last one, they applied a discount coupon I had not even asked for). I also appreciate the local feel: they remember me every time, and are always willing to work with my time schedule. 2015: My recent experience exceeded all expectations. After 2 wheels, tires and a mirror were stolen off my truck, they not only did everything they could—and then some—to help me wth everything from the police report to providing video of the vandal, they did not charge me for the service and parts they provided, even though they were in no way at fault in the situation (it happened over night, across the street from their place.) I cant imagine taking my cars elsewhere. Good service and good prices are all...good! But that type of care is invaluable.

I retired and moved from Santa Cruz to Bellingham WA last year and miss many things about SC, but near the top of that list is my local independent auto mechanic: Stanford Avenue Automotive. Mike and Jennifer took care of half a dozen different cars for me during our many years in the area. Prices were always fair, work honestly estimated and finished on time at highest quality level, and multiple above-and-beyond instances of kindness and aid from them in keeping my always used, often abused vehicles running. Obviously, I cant recommend Stanford Automotive highly enough. They are great people and deserve your business.

I have brought all my cars over the years to Stanford Avenue Automotive for their smog check. Recently my daughter needed her recently acquired Toyota Prius to get the smog certification so that AAA office could generate her car registration. We were given a scheduled time and the work was started exactly as promised and completed promptly. The mechanic checked tire pressure and looked the car over at no additional cost. The price for the smog check was competitive but the service, honesty and congeniality of Standford Automotive was exemplary.

I have been bringing my truck to Stanford Ave. Auto for years. The thing that keeps bringing me back is the honesty and integrity with their work. Recently I experienced brake noise and was concerned that maybe the pads were worn or something was wrong with the rotors. I emailed Mike & Jennifer and received a prompt response to bring my truck in. They replaced the pads and resurfaced the rotors and thoroughly described what was causing the squeaking. If anyone is in need of auto repair I would not look any farther than Stanford. Thank you!

Ive been going to Stanford Ave Auto for 6 years. I found out about it when a friend of mine was given a quote of $750 for her engine and Stanford told her $100...and was upset how she was almost ripped off by those other garages. One time, Stanford recommended to patch up my fuel tank leak. It didnt work and I ended up needing a new fuel tank. The owner didnt charge me for the labor and paid half of the cost of the new fuel tank. Cant say enough great things about Stanford Ave service.

I like the friendly flexible attitude I got from the staff and the first (small) job they did for me was done well. It bothered me a little that they did not give me any written policy information when I dropped the car off. The first time i never got any sort of estimate at all thought the charge was quite reasonable. The second time I came in with a bigger problem I was a little disturbed by what I could only call an unprofessional demeanor and decided to go elsewhere.

Ive been going to Stanford Ave. Garage for at least 15 yrs. and always received the very best care for my Automobile. They have a family feel, always take my car in right away, very professional and prices are the best. One time I had my car towed there because it wouldnt start, they looked at it right away. It turned out to be something very small and would not let me pay them for their time. All my families cars go to them and I would recommend everyone give them a try.

A real-life friendly neighborhood auto repair shop. They do great work and I especially appreciate that they always take the time to explain what needs to be done and how much everything will cost. The work is completed when they say it will be completed, which from experience I know isnt always the case with other repair shops in the area. Its never fun to have to get your car fixed, but its good to know that the folks at Stanford Ave can get the job done right.

A friend recommended me to Mike at Stanford Auto and now, five years later, I still bring my car there. Service is great and I know I can trust Stanford Auto to tell me what is really going on with my car. Oil changes, radiator hose leaks, regular maintenance... all done and at really great prices. Im very cost conscious and have done a lot of cost research and have concluded that for price and service, Stanford Auto is a great combo.

The old cliché is that its hard to find a good honest mechanic, Stanford Avenue Automotive is that kind of shop. Their repair work is top notch, their prices are fair, they are very up front about their repair estimates, and more than once theyve gone above and beyond to make sure that Ive been satisfied with the work. Its so hard to find a mechanic that does great work and you can trust to tell you everything thats wrong and nothing thats not. Mike is one of those mechanics. Hes done a lot of great work on my car, and when I had an issue with the drive belts he put on, he took a look at them again for free. Stanford Ave. is great.

I always use them for smog testing for my older cars. Very professional, start on time, and finish promptly. If there is a problem, they will tell you exactly what it is and add advice on how to fix it. Can not ask for more. It is a friendly family run business, which makes a difference.

The customer service is fantastic here. I usually come in for smog checks and they are always quick about getting my car turned around and back out the door. Make an appointment for faster service.
