This may be a long review but I think well worth it. I was looking for a mechanic to take my car because the dealership wanted way to much for an oil change. I saw the reviews for this place and thought to myself, "Id never go there". I called them and they told me how much for a oil change which was so much lower than the dealership so I then said to myself, "how much can really go wrong with an oil change" so I decided to give them a try. I hadnt serviced my car for over a year so I knew there were a lot of other things that needed to be done so the free diagnostic check they said they would do drew me in as well. From the moment I walked in they were professional. Martin greeted me, and the other person at the front desk was very nice as well. They have a big screen tv in the lobby area and complimentary water and snacks while you wait which I really appreciated. They told me they would need the day to do a free diagnostic test and that if i need a car they had a deal with Hertz for $20 a day so I did that. The very next day they emailed me with the diagnostic test. This report had every code that came up from the car, they took pictures of every part that was worn or needed replacement so that the price they were charging wasjustified not only with the repair codes from the car but the pictures of the wear and tear as well. I have never been to a repair shop that did that. They then called me to confirm I received the report and the estimate was attached to it. I knew my car needed a lot of work and was very happy they could break it down by cost and what needed to be done first, due to wear and tear. I asked them if they do this with every customer because i cant imagine the bad reviews if you are receiving this type of excellent service. Martin went over EVERY code and issue of the car, and told me what should be done sooner and what could be done later but left it up to me. I found the diagnostic report invaluable. Over the phone he told me it would be free but they also had a yelp check in that made it free as well. I picked my car up and it has been working fine and they recently called to check on me. I can only speak for myself, and I had a great experience. Maybe if you mention you found out about them on yelp youll receive the same great service that I did. But I highly recommend them and I think the fact that they email a report with pictures to explain they problem and what needs to be done is amazing. And the pricing was definitely better than the dealership. Thank you 405 Auto you have a new customer in me.

I almost feel obligated to leave my personal number to corroborate my experience with anyone who is considering 405 as a potential mechanic, as a means to prove that I am genuinely a more than satisfied customer, rather than a member of 405 Auto staff who may have fabricated this review. tl;dr: I had a fantastic experience with 405 Auto, and was not only very pleased by the professionalism, but was genuinely surprised by the above-and-beyond service I received. I called 405 auto and spoke with Martin, the owner, and arranged an appointment time to bring in my 2006 650i. He was professional, courteous, and punctual for my appointment. I spoke with him about some of the issues it was having, and he was very knowledgeable about what may be causing the issues. I left the car with him for a diagnostic, and he called a short time later to discuss the issues that he had found. He provided a reasonable price for the repairs, and informed me of the cost of parts. Being a DIY, and knowing fully well how to access OEM part databases for my car, I was able to look up the parts and see for myself what prices were, which were identical to the prices that Martin gave me. I called a few other shops and asked for their price on performing the same services, of which his were on par. I told Martin that he may proceed with the repairs, of which he gave me a time estimate for completion. Martin called earlier than the time estimate to inform me that my car was finished (of which I was surprised because their shop is constantly filled with very beautiful, expensive cars). I told him I did not have a ride at the moment, of which he offered a ride to me. When I arrived at the shop, my car was fully detailed, inside and out, better than the service I normally receive at Blue Wave Car Wash. He went on a test drive with me to ensure that the car was operating as it should, without any warnings or issues. A few days later, Martin called me again to ensure that I was happy with my repairs, and to see if there were any questions I had. I can honestly say that I am more pleased with 405 Auto than any experience Ive had with any other mechanic. Whether or not you choose to bring your car here (of which I feel you should, or at least just talk to Martin), I know that Ill be using 405 Auto as my mechanic as long as I reside in the Southern California Area.

I just read the other reviews for 405 Automotive and felt compelled to write something too. Martin at 405 Auto has worked exclusively on all my cars since I found him in 2005. Prior to that most other shops where trying to shaft me in one way or another. Lets face it, automotive repair can be a dark and mysterious world for the uneducated and some shop owners will take advantage of this fact. Fortunately for me I guess, I spent most my youth building and racing cars, and while the modern car is a technical marvel beyond my capabilities they still operate exactly the same way, therefore I often called them on their bullshit and walked away. People dont realize diagnostics is always the hard part, and you cant always plug a computer in and get the answer. It takes a Technician with decades of experience to decipher a problem and even then it may be a process elimination to pin point it. In my personal experience I have not found anyone better than Martin and he seems to love the challenges. So how good is he? He built me a BMW race car that survived a 24-hour endurance race. He built a custom Dakar Rally support truck that survived two 5,000 mile races in Argentina. Not to mention keeping my M5 with 165k miles running like new or all the Aston Martin, Bentley, Porsche and Roll Royce owners that trust him. We all want to get a good deal but I only put OEM parts on my car because I like my life. Cheap parts are cheap for a good reason and cheap labor can be become very expensive when you least expect it. If you want to be cheap and save money I suggest you ride a bike. Also if anyone has anything negative to say about anyone or any business on the internet, at least have the balls to put your name on it, otherwise Im calling "bullshit". Be safe on the road people.
