I cannot believe all the 5 star reviews! Is it just me being duped here? I started renting in November 2015 and within 3 months received a post card telling me that my monthly rent will increase by $40 a month!!! The postcard was postmarked giving me a 2 week notification window. Who does business like this?! I went into the office to see what this was about and spoke with Aaron who was nice but unhelpful. He said he would have management contact me. Since then we have been playing phone tag with Michelle Valdez the asst. mgr. and nothing has been resolved. She is always in a meeting and says shell call me back in a few days. Fortunately during my visit there were 3 potential customers in the office ready to sign the lease papers and overheard the story. They asked Aaron if this is truly how they treat customers and if such a thing will happen to them a few months down the road if they rent. Aaron said yes it was possible and all 3 ripped up their papers and said they will be looking elsewhere. I wish I had been one of those customers as I would NOT have chosen to rent with this business when there are so many choices in the South Bay for storage. Whats worse is that a the website is showing my unit for $100 less than what I am currently paying. Seems someone just randomly comes up with these numbers when the seasons change. Choose wisely when it comes to storage and heed the warning. At any time this company will increase your rent with a postcard notice. Thats capitalism at it finest! Look at their stocks..Extra Space Storage is doing pretty well at $94 a share! Putting in my 30 day and moving my business elsewhere!

I cant praise this Extra Space Storage site enough. I had to suddenly find a storage unit and I kept remembering the nightmare stories I had heard of people losing their units to cold-blooded companies ready to auction your possessions the second it was legal for them to do so. That may be true of the other better known storage facility down the road, but I was welcomed and helped by a staff that seemed genuinely interested in helping me during this difficult transition. I placed my oder online and was able to get a great discount. When I arrived, the paperwork took only minutes and all my questions were answered. The unit buildings are very clean with wide hallways. The company promotes their own lock although you can provide your own and insurance of your belongings is included in the price of the unit. If I am late on a payment, there is a 10 day grace period. The manager lives on the premises which somehow made me feel my possessions were more secure. I called in recently to talk with Julio, the excellent manager and was instead routed to the 800 agents. Normally, I would have called back since 800 agents usually cant be specific about specific sites. But the 800 agent was just as friendly and accommodating as the brick and mortar staff and her notes expiduted my conversation with Julio later that day. Moving is not easy - even its by choice and for the most positive reasons - and having helpful and sincere people ready to assist you can relieve a lot of the stress. It did for me and I am very grateful to have found Extra Space Storage - Im almost sorry that I wont need the unit much longer. Go figure.

I have had about 4 storage units in my lifetime and this was by far the worst. Here are the problems with this location. 1. The elevator lift was on the complete opposite side of a lot of the storage units. In order to get to this life, if pulling a dolly or a cart, there was a step that you had to go down as opposed to a ramp. Makes no sense to have a step in the halls instead of a ramp. 2. The lift wasnt always operable. I arrived on a Sunday to get my belongings to move into my apartment and the lift was not working. So i had to carry couches, dressers, etc down a flight of stairs. There was no one to call or talk to about it. When i finally did talk to someone they said "thats unfortunate". 3. The drive up area in front of the units are on a slant, so anything you have rolls down into the middle of the drive-way. 4. Awful lighting inside the facility. 5. The main gate to enter and exit is set up to where you have to enter your code, run to your car, then try to exit before the gate closes. 6. Staff was not friendly. I walked in and one of the associates was reprimanding a customer because he forgot his unit number, stating "you people need to remember your unit numbers, it makes it hard work for us". As he sits behind the desk in a well air conditioned room. I cant speak for other facilities, but the Wilmington, CA facility was awful.

So my storage unit went into foreclosure because of past due payments. We brought it current and when we got into our unit it was totally destroyed. Containers were dumped upside down and my stuff was broken and everywhere. Of course no one took responsibility and suggested we file a police report. So today we got our Christmas decorations out and brought them home. We got a surprise .... A crack pipe, a syringe, cigarette butts, gatorade bottles, food wrappers, o broken cell phone, and a creepy disgusting back pack that I took straight to the garage. This was all in my ornaments!!!! With old photographs of my family. How do I know this creep didnt whack off on my pictures??? Thanks extra space for your lovely policy of allowing creeps in my storage unit probably because you assumed we werent going to pay you let freaks live in the pre foreclosed units. We will be getting out of there asap

Very nice up close and personal service. Monique is by far the most customer service oriented person I have ever met and dealt with in this industry. Her ability to deal with mutible customers while giving each one an attentive and focused response while making the customer feel important. She is kind and compassionate towards everyone who comes in her office. Never guessing, always ready to respond to each question with an educated, well thought out answer. If I could give a review higher than the allotted five stars given here, you can be assured I would give her tops. Abraham, my neighbor who also rents here, referred me to this business. And I cannot thank him enough. Thank you Monique! For making my visit special, every time I go there!

I had a very satisfactory experience with Extra Space Storage. I called the Wilmington, California location to reserve a small space and even though I did not get by before my moving date, there was no problem being able to see and move my boxes in when I was available to meet and see the space a couple days thereafter. Everything went smoothly in the office. Everything was explained as we moved through the agreement. I received the first month free and initial charges were less than usual with the special discount being offered at the time. I could not be happier with the savings I received.

Clean, Secure place for your extra stuff-- I was in a super rush but the customer service was amazing and very fast/accurate. Aaron was great, pleasant and a great smile that made it hard to be annoyed that you were running late-- Def. recommend to anyone who needs extra space. I am very picky and set in my ways (Im old) but I left with a smile because he went out of his way to make this painless-- Should have done it earlier in the day, but I have little time always and my mom was there to help me out (drive my car back after uhaul)-- All in all 5 stars (and I dont ever write reviews)
