I was very disappointed with this company. I am new to the area and they are in a convenient location to my house so when my car and my wifes car had problems around the same time we brought our cars to them. My wifes car need a new starter, however, after running an expensive diagnostic ($175 I think) their solution was a new battery. They replace the battery, of course we had to bring it back, then they replaced the starter but wanted to charge us for both services and the diagnostic for both times even though it should have been an obvious fix the first time. My car kept stalling, and they said after an expensive diagnostic that I needed a new battery! Long story short, I took it to a Midas up the street. They fixed me up for about $100 where Checkpoint had quoted me $600+. On top of that, they were not even close to the source of the problem so it would have been $600+ down the drain. It is a shame because the guys at Checkpoint seemed very nice. They are a poor mechanic shop because either they dont know what they are doing, dont care, or purposefully try to rip people off. Its probably a combination of all three. At least that is my experience with them. Learn from my mistakes and take your car elsewhere.

I took my vehicle in because the check engine light was on and the brake light switch was faulty. I told them I thought the problems were related but they charged me $50 to confirm the problem I already knew existed (the faulty brake switch) and then almost $150 more for the parts and labor (you can buy a brake light switch online for around $25). They then said the brake problem had been fixed but the check engine light was still on but they could diagnose the problem for another $120. I said no way and took the car to Auto Zone to get the check engine fault code for free. Not surprisingly, the problem was related to the brake light switch exactly as I had told them. I managed to get the check engine light to turn off simply by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (which they should have done while replacing the brake switch earlier anyway). So not only did they charge me an outrageous sum to replace a simple part, they tried to get me to spend an extra $120 for a problem that shouldnt have existed if they actually did their jobs correctly! I wont ever be giving them my business again!

Ridiculously high prices, served with a smile. Took my daughters car here because of steering and brake problems, and was surprised to find the parts alone had almost a 500% markup based on what you can find at AutoZone, NAPA, or OReillys. The owner will give you some song and dance about how their parts are so much more amazing and their warranty is better, but 500% is outrageous. And you dont even want to know the charge for labor! After doing some internet research, it seems that a "fair" shop markup is supposed to be around 25-50% higher than what you can find retail. Certainly not the case at Checkpoint! When I complained about the outrageous prices, the owner just shrugged and said everybody does it. Furthermore, Checkpoint said I needed to replace the front brake pads, rotors, and calipers for $950. Turns out when another mechanic got the wheels off and showed me, all I needed was new front brake pads ($50 parts + 1 hr labor). Bottom line, if you want to be oversold and money is no object, then Checkpoint is for you. Otherwise, buyer beware!

So I have been taking my 3 cars to Checkpoint for years now. The previous owners really knew the value of a customer as they always did the right thing in putting the customer first. Yesterday was the last straw! I sent in my teenage daughter and they took advantage of her! Her message indicator every 3 months shows that the antifreeze is low. She also was taking it in for what I knew was a strut that needed to be replaced and an oil change. In our previous experiences here no problem in topping off the fluids with an oil change and replacing a bulb that was out all for no charge. After getting an upsetting phone call from my daughter that the mechanics were completely rude to her I had enough! $131.00 later for an oil change, which included a $50.00 charge to put the car up on the rack and look underneath! I wanted to support the local owner and being that it was convenient to the house it was great. Never again will I go here!

Todays oil change reminded me why since 1999, Larry Olsen & his Checkpoint Automotive team have maintained all my vehicles: a new 2016 Fusion, a track run 347,000 mile 1995 Firehawk, a 1970 Trans Am and a 1969 GTO. Larry and team have always been polite & professional and have proven themselves competent in service and repairs ranging from an oil changes to clutch replacement, failed power window motors to difficult to identify and correct driveability problems. Not every repair goes as planned, and when Ive had issues with a repair, Larry and team have worked amicably with me to reach a satisfactory result. Despite inevitable staff turnover through the years, Larrys team has delivered the same high caliber service. Checkpoint Automotive is where I turn for help anytime I have a problem with one of my vehicles--old or new!

Id been a faithful patron for over six years, having never needing any real maintenance done other than oil changes etc. As one of the other reviewers noted theyre very good at changing oil and they do good work, but youre going to pay for it. After having some work done I was surprised at the cost (over 1/2 the cost was for labor, and all i had done was a replacement of a window motor). I called the Chevy dealer and asked how much the same service would cost, they quoted me $65.00 less for the maintenance and $25.00 less for the part and thats from the dealer. So if you want a good place to have your oil changed, theyre competitive and good at it. If you want maintenance done theyre good at it and very nice people, but youre going to pay a premium, they arent competitive price wise.

These guys have been our family mechanics for years. I have always been impressed with their professionalism and how well they treat their customers. They keep in contact with you throughout any diagnostic or repair work so you know what is going on and if anything is better or worse then they originally thought. They have always been great about working with me with various cars and honest with their opinions on what has to be done and what could be put off or didnt need to be done right then. They have also been very upfront about when I have had cars that were worth less then fixing them! (Which I really appreciate

We have been customers of Checkpoint for over a year and they have provided our routine care for our vehicles as well as a couple of larger jobs and we have been very pleased with the care we have received. Most often Dennis has been the one to provide customer service to us and he has not disappointed. He is welcoming, very pleasant wether its is 0730 and the day is just starting or, 1700 and its time to go home. Dennis comes around the counter and talks with you face to face and answers questions and even takes your phone calls when you have more questions!
