Weve lived in this area since the late 90s and the Castle Rock post office used to be a nice, well-run, small town post office. It has gone very far down hill since then. Their contract carrier for our area will not deliver parcels to us because hes just too lazy to get out of his car. We have watched him drive right by the house, only to find a non-delivery slip in our mailbox. So we have to drive to the post office and stand in line once or sometimes twice each week. Lines are always long and slow, and there is seldom an open "window" for pick-ups. One gray haired elderly soul (about my age) is almost always grumpy, so after waiting 15 or 20 minutes you may have to deal with her. The parking lot has had huge pot holes for several years... they were cheaply repaired once or twice, but soon returned so you really need to be careful driving through there. Employees seem to mostly be the classic, under-performing government civil servants who hate their jobs and dont care about you. I wish I could think of something nice to say, but I cant... its just frustrating and unpleasant.

Today was the third time in a row that I tried to cash a postal money order at the CR post office and they refused to cash it for me because they need the cash in the register. Somebody paid the post office for the money order and they are supposed to cash it regardless of the situation. And obviously they have the money at the post office but for some reason they keep telling me the same bullshit story. What is the deal with castle rock post office? On top of that my mail sometimes dont get delivered until after dark, and my mail is always getting lost. It once took 6 weeks for me to receive a paycheck through the mail because castle rock lost it. Its just a joke . Ive lived in 4 states in my life and never had a problem like this with the post office in my life. Even Baltimore cities post office didnt cause my any of these problems. Somebody needs to get in there and do something about this place because obviously a bunch of idiots run the place and cant get the job done right. I will continue to complain until something changes. Fire all the idiots and start fresh or something..

If I could give my carrier 0 stars I would. The carrier who drives the yellow Nissan Extera is rude and condescending. I have had multiple packages delivered to my house that were not mine. Some of them had the address scratched off, so he just took a guess as to where it belonged. Some of the packages had the right street name, but the wrong number. Some of them had the right number but the wrong street name. Our cluster mail boxes are falling apart and the keys frequently do not work. I have had to call the post office to ask if my packages could be delivered to my house rather than the parcel box. They refused. Recently the key did not work again and I asked if the carrier could put it in a different box. He then came to my door without the box to tell me that I dont know how to use a key. He was rude and harassing. He wanted me to walk down to the box at the end of our street right then while my child was napping. He told me the key worked and he doesnt have time to babysit people who cant read. I called his supervisor, and they basically told me that it is what it is.

I have had mixed results at this location. On the positive side, one of their counter staff was extremely polite and helpful in working through problems caused by their delivery person. On the other hand, I was to receive an item delivered by registered mail which their tracking service said had been delivered and signed for at my address (I did not receive it). I opened a lost item case on the USPS website and asked to see the signed for slip, and could get no response other than their saying they looked for the item and could not find it. Particularly after reading some of the reviews on this site about mis-delivery, I am sure they delivered it to the wrong address and a dishonest person kept it (or a dishonest person in the post office took it). If I could have seen the signed slip, I would have immediately known if the signature was bogus. But their "thorough" review and search for the lost item did not include even this basic step. Very poor handling of a customer problem, amounting to a failure on basic customer service.

For the most part I have not had problems with the USPS here in Castle Rock. This review is for my current experience. I ordered a package 2 weeks ago. With tracking I can see it arrived at our local post office 8 days ago. I have not received the package, no notice for pick up; nothing. When I went online to get their phone number, while other nearby post offices had their number listed, Castle Rock only listed the USPS 800 number. When I called, all they could say was; "the package arrived in Castle Rock on the 25th of July. I have no idea why it hasnt been delivered". With the threat of the USPS being shut down, you would think that they would be busting their butts to prove their value and keep their jobs... I guess the Postal workers think they could find other fairly easy jobs with great retirement packages like those offered by the govt... Good luck guys; youll need it.

SHAME on the manager of the castle rock post office today. I was there to send birthday cookies to my army son who is serving in Afghanistan. I walked in at 12:05 just before they were going to lock the doors - I didnt realize they closed at noon. I was told "Were closed", you cant come in. I explained what I was trying to mail and was told "you can use the kiosk in the lobby". Again, I stated my package was going to Afghanistan so the kiosk wouldnt not help me. "Were closed" was the reply. So I asked to speak to a manager. I explained the situation and asked that since I got there at 12:05 before the doors were locked, would she please make an exception in honor of my son. She refused and told me to go to the Highlands Ranch post office because theyre open until one! I was stunned! No wonder the postal service is going bankrupt!!

I had 4 separate packages delivered from Amazon. The mail carrier put 4 "sorry we missed you" slips in the mailbox. We have a community mailbox center that is exactly 4 houses from my my house. They want me to drive 8 miles to the post office to pick up my packages because they are to stupid to understand parcel delivery to my address means my house , as they have done 100 times before with parcels from Amazon. The postal route carrier is just lazy, I can not believe the absolute stupidity. Confirms our understanding why the USPS has the lowest customer satisfaction ratings.... Time they stop acting typical government employees and agencies and get with it. I will no longer ship using USPS and demand UPS or FedEx deliver my Amazon packages going forward. Corey Engelen
