Abra seems like a very professional body shop...from the outside. Unfortunately, they have forced me to write a negative review about them – specifically the Motor City location and Mike and Tim. My 1996 Honda was in an accident and was hit right in front of my front drivers side tire. After Abra had the car for a week, I went to pick it up and was unhappy about the paint. They had it for three more days and when I hadnt heard back, I called and they said the insurance would not approve them fixing the matters I was concerned about, but they would "do anything to make sure I was happy in the end - because we cannot have a bad review". I then heard from the other driver’s insurance that Abra said "the car has been in so many accidents previously, the damage is not from this accident, plus they say the car has hail damage anyways" and "the car is old, it wont look fixed unless it has a new bumper". Yes, the car is almost 20 years old, but we take good care of our vehicles. I can guarantee you they would not have done this with a new vehicle. To get some more experienced assistance, I had my insurance agent call the shop, and they told my insurance they had gone above and beyond with my car, the bumper is just too old, and the car has hail damage anyways. Im sorry, but what does the hail damage have to do with THIS ACCIDENT?? The car received hail damage just before bringing it in, so it had not been fixed yet. When we went to pick up the car a second time, my husband pointed out that the bumper does not line up with the car, the paint on the fender has orange peel, and the paint on the bumper is dull, has overspray, and is lack-luster. Not to mention, they painted the front of the bumper, under the headlight, where the car did not need to be painted…??? To top it off, the antenna was completely bent forward, and when my husband pointed that out and tried to bend it back, the whole thing snapped off. Abra said, "oh, it wasnt like that?" and said again "we cant have a bad review" but then was unwilling to have the bumper fixed or the areas repainted. They did say they would try to fix the bumper and try to buff out the paint, but we are unwilling to bring the car back and have them do more sloppy work and come up with more excuses about why the car still looks bad. Abra came up with reasons the paint looked poor, but changed their mind each time. We heard "the paint looks bad because it reacted poorly with the clear coat already on your car", we heard "the paint looks bad because they were trying to match the dull paint on the rest of the car" and finally, "the paint looks bad because we used inferior product". I even brought my car to my insurance agents office, and they agreed that the bumper was not lined up like it should have been and that the paint job was poor. Finally, if you have an older vehicle that is not in MINT condition, I would NOT recommend taking your car to Abra in Motor City. They will blame any damage on the age of the vehicle instead of the accident itself (even when the damage remaining is only in the area the car was hit). They will also do a poor job with the paint. They will seem very nice in person and over the phone, but will then do a sloppy job on your vehicle. Take your car to Abra if you are unconcerned with the final outcome of the vehicle and don’t care about the damage being fixed and the car being returned to pre-accident condition.

Black and Whites customer service definitely leaves something to be desired. They try their best to be super nice when you first come in, but once they have your business customer service goes out the window. They had my vehicle for over 3 weeks fixing a minor repair. Then they called me 1.5 hrs before they closed on a Thursday and told me I needed to come pick up my vehicle. I told them that I wouldnt be able to because I had to work past past 5:30 when they close and that I had to leave town for work the next day. Well since they arent open on Sat or Sun they just told me that I should try my best to pick my vehicle up or I would have to pay for the rental car fees for the weekend. They provided to no solution to the situation. In the end I had to call them back and ask if there was any way I could pick my vehicle up after hours. After some hageling I was able to work out a plan with the lady who answered the phone. After I picked up my vehicle I called to get clarification on exactly what repairs had been made to my vehicle because there was a discrepancy between what they told me had been done and what was listed on my itemized receipt. I have had to call Michael 5 times over three weeks to try to get a corrected receipt and he still has not corrected it nor will he return the last message I left him regarding the issue. This may be an alright place to get your car fixed, but if there are any extenuating circumstances or you ever need anything corrected you will probably have to deal with a much larger headache than if you just found a better repair shop.

I contacted the manager of this store to resolve an issue I had at the Academy store, here was my issue: A month in a half ago my spouse set an appointment. Over the last month and half, I have asked the office to call my spouse and given them the phone number. Today, the receptionist called me to confirm my appointment. I asked her to call my spouse because I will not be seeing her until very late...I was told "No" that was my problem and "I am sorry I ruined your day!" and they hung up. This upset me, I called back and asked to speak to the manager...same person answered the phone and said "No, that he was busy" I said I didnt care if he was busy...they hung up. Then contacted my insurance company...and cancelled the work that was scheduled a month and half ago!!!! I have had work done with Abra 9 times over the last 6 years. If I were Abra...I would fire that receptionist, if this is how the company treats people who pay them money....I wonder how they treat people they have never meet. ----- I spoke to the manager of this store in hopes of someone who is in charge to speak to the receptionist and to share with the other store manager how customers are being treated. They cancelled the work to be done on my vehicle!!!!!!

This business is incredibly unprofessional - almost every time I spoke to anyone about my car, they were beyond rude to me. When I picked it up, it still wasnt fixed (even after 3 weeks) so I had to take it back. I said to the receptionist, that I was dissatisfied with the service I had received, to which she replied, "Thats fine." I asked her, its fine that Im a customer and that I am dissatisfied with the service I received here? She then went on to say that "she doesnt deal with rude customers." Its ironic though, I dealt with their rude and unprofessional employees for 3 weeks and when I made a simple comment that I was dissatisfied, IM suddenly the rude one! Her behavior was awful and if I was a business, I would not want someone like that up front, or anyone rude answering phone calls. A business should VALUE their customers; not brush them off, especially if they just paid you $7,000 to fix their car! The manager attempted, meekly, to apologize to me, but after my experience there, I would give Abra on Tejon 0 stars; I would not recommend. Pick somewhere else - anywhere else! - to have your work done.
