truth matters
If there were negative stars, thats where this rating would be. I purchased a $50 voucher they offered, with a value of $200 toward services. The price quoted for what I needed was $300, so the balance would be $100. After the 15 minutes it took to fix my problem (NOT an exaggeration of how quick it was), he took the voucher, and still charged me $300. I learned well after the vouchers expiration that he never applied it, meaning I could not refund the voucher. Why offer a deal you refuse to honor? Not to mention, I just had a different (unrelated) repair on the same item that was much more difficult, took about an hour, and it cost me $75.00 TOTAL. I do not find this business to have any integrity whatsover, and the repair person was RUDE, to top it off. After reading other dissatisfied customers comments, they sound almost identical. His responses are anemic pseudo-justifications for excessive costs. I would suggest that he simply not offer his "deals." $350 ($50 voucher plus $300 charge) for 15 actual minutes of work, with no parts or errands involved? Sorry, but there is NO WAY ANYONES plumbing is worth $1,400 an hour. Even if the voucher had been applied, it still would have equaled $600 an hour. What a sick joke, for someone whose fixed income is less than my medical expenses. I cant write the word that expresses my opinion of them/him. Really, unless there is going to be a refund for the $200 overcharge, I dont want to hear any pathetic excuses. A reality check might be in order, or perhaps an audition for "American Greed." Response--my auto log in inserted the name for the account where I saw the reviews. I never thought about it as questionable. NO, I do NOT write phony reviews, for anything, anyone, anytime EVER. But I DO address issues that are exploitative or questionable. I do NOT play games with peoples well being, in any form or manner, I do not exaggerate, and I do not prevaricate. YES, you were at my house, and everything I stated is 100% accurate. I specified while setting the appointment I had a voucher, I DID personally hand you the coupon upon your arrival, and you DID NOT apply it, as stated above. Also, 100% true, what the other plumber charged for even more difficult work. Great cop-out. I dont care how many happy customers you have -- how many of THEM are phony?? -- it does not render my experience invalid. Would you like proof that you did NOT apply my voucher, so you can issue me the $$ amount you were supposed to apply? I will not divulge personal information on an unsecured forum, considering the volatility of online security. If I prove my claim, and you are willing to refund the voucher value, I will do so. If you have no intent to rectify this, even with proof, then there is no point in furthering communications, which then just further avows your disingenuous principles. The only reason I made a comment is because I see you still offering these vouchers, and it concerned me to think of other people possibly being subjected to a similar circumstance. You likely have absolutely no clue what it is like to choose between medical needs, or food. It is NO JOKE, and it is NOT A GAME. ymfsoab

Still trying to understand Dan of Goldsmith Plumbing, reasonable trip charge, no issues. He was already at my house and the quote was high. Two choices, have him fix my sink at a high cost or call another plumber, take another hour of my time and pay another trip charge to someone else. Geeze, I had no idea when I committed to Dan of Goldsmith Plumbings trip charge that he was going to quote me such a high rate, $227 to fix a leaky sink. From the time he set foot in my house, went to the store to buy the part, come back and install it was 1 hour! All said and done he made approximately $200/hour from me. I know he claims hes a master plumber but perhaps he is also a master scam artist. I only agreed to this because quite frankly I didnt have the time to deal with getting another plumber in. Anyone considering Dan of Goldsmith Plumbing should get a few estimates. Dan is highway robbery. Dan, I hope you feel good about the money you charged me. We both know that you took advantage of the situation. In response to his comments below, yes taking advantage of the situation is a strong statement but in my experience I believe this to be true. If Dan feels like he overcharged me and wants to make it right, I will gladly update my review to reflect this.

I purchased a LivingSocial Deal and scheduled my appointment. This morning I received an email informing me of $29 fee just for coming out. It would have been helpful if the woman I booked the appointment with had mentioned that or if they had disclosed additional fees on the voucher. My initial experience with this company is they nickle and dime you. I dont have an issue with paying additional money but I do have an issue with not being up front about it. Im contemplating if I should even move forward with working with this company. My 2nd interaction was extremely disappointing. As a consumer I would have expected an apology for the misunderstanding maybe some assurance that they would do a better job of communicating additional fees over the phone but instead I was scolded because I wrote a negative review about my initial contact with this company. I stand by what I said. The companys communication skills need work. I contacted the office over the phone 3 times. I sat around today waiting for my plumber to show up. An email was sent cancelling my appointment after I took off work. Bad impressions last a lifetime. Customer service goes a long way.

I am very happy with the service I received from Dan at Goldsmith Plumbing. He was very professional and quickly diagnosed the problem with the leaking water. I was preparing myself for a very expensive fix and Dan assured me it was most likely a simple fix with caulking. I inquired about a worse case scenario if mold might be growing in the wall where the leak was located and what options I should consider. He suggested sometimes people have a access panel installed so we can see inside the wall as well as the pipes to check if any mold is present or to monitor future situations. He wasnt trying to "sell me" the access panel idea and actually suggested a lower cost alternative. I chose to have the access panel installed for my piece of mind and it turns out Dan was right. There was no mold or further leaks, but my peace of mind is worth the additional cost. I am pleased with the service I received and will recommend this company to others.

I showed to Dan, I had bought 3 Fluidmasters (All in one Total repair kits) for each toilet, I also bought the Groupon $50 for $200 in labor. Dan quoted $696 Total for all 3 toilets (of course I immediately rejected). So I asked how much for one? $396.00 minus $48.00 (parts) for only 1 toilet. Dan said, all 3 toilets is a better deal. I told Dan 1 toilet kit is 30-40minutes of total work for a plumber. Your charging close to $350.00 for less than an hour of work. He said, thats pretty competitive for a plumber. I have a 11 year old house nothing tricky about these toilets. Dan charging close to $350 for LESS than an hour of work is ridiculous. I showed him the door just as quickly as I opened it. I dont know why hes claiming to be competitive, when surely he wants to be paid at the very top of any plumber. Buyer Beware!!! I like the name tho: GOLDsmith Plumbing.
