I went to Keller today for the first time to get my oil changed. While I was waiting I watched the employees come out and tell each person in the waiting room that there was something much more major wrong with their car than just needing an oil change. After waiting for about 45 minutes I decided to go get lunch with my husband, when I told one of the employees he made a series of uncomfortable jokes asking me to bring him lunch and I left. I came back about an hour later and the same employee made the same series of jokes demanding to know where I ate and what. I asked him if my car was ready and he said there were some serious issues that needed to be addressed aside from the oil change. When I asked him what was wrong he offered me a performance enhancement for a few hundred dollars, advised me about a crack in my tail light lens, although the light its self was functioning fine, and told me that my serpentine belt was badly cracked and needed to be replaced for about 120.00 before tax. He then proceeded to explain to me that the belt is what made the go, in a few ways in a very, "Im talking down to you" kind of way and I asked him if I could pay for my oil change and go. The entire expierence was uncomfortable but I was glad to be told about the belt which (Im well aware) needs to be monitored to avoid being stranded. I went and got my owners manual looked up how to replace the belt and went to buy the part. When I got to Napa I was surprised to find out the part only cost 21.99 (a little over 23.00 with tax) and the employee at Napa was skeptical that I was buying one BEFORE it was an issue. He came out and we looked under the hood together, not a crack on the belt. They wanted me to pay them 120.00 to replace a 23.00 belt that didnt need replacing. Dishonest and poor customer service. I wont be back.

After purchasing a used car from a "reputable" local dealer, I began having issues. I took it to Keller Bros and they spent quite a bit of time trying to replicate the problem...of course, they couldnt. Although they charged me for the time they spent looking for the issue, they said they would credit me that labor time should I have another issue with it. Everything was fine for about two months - until the car began doing the same thing last night. I will be taking the car back on Monday to see if they keep their word. In the meantime, what I do like? They suggested I take the car back to the dealership (since I had only owned it a couple of weeks at that point) and ask the dealership to pay to have the issue fixed. I appreciated their honesty and their suggestion that any reputable dealer would take care of the issue. (The dealer wouldnt take care of it - go figure.) Several family members suggested I take it to Keller Bros due to their positive experiences with them. They were very helpful - offering to take my young daughter and me home so we didnt have to wait there, suggesting close places we could walk to for lunch or to kill time, etc. Their waiting room is nice (the "Automotive TV" gets old in a hurry) and they offer free water bottles to customers. The cool air conditioning was a welcome relief on that hot day! They took the time to listen to my not-so-straightforward description of the problem - and even the mechanic came out to talk to me and get more information when he couldnt duplicate the issue. Im very happy with them - and they did an excellent job of putting me at ease. (Single mom who knows nothing about cars and never trusts mechanics.) I will definitely go back - friendly, clean, seemingly honest, helpful - what more could you want??

My 84-year-old mother asked me to submit this review, and Ive been delinquent in doing so. Here is what she wrote: "I bought four new tires at Keller Bros on September 10, 2010. A little over a month later I had a flat tire. I drove too far on it so I needed to have it replaced. When I got the new tire replaced at Keller Bros I mentioned that apparently there was no mishap with the old tire and the air just went out of it, and that I would like the other three tires checked for safetys sake, and perhaps they might check with the company that had sold them the tire. When I said this I didnt press the point, or scream and holler or demand anything at all, but was natually quite prepared to pay for the new tire and the labor. I just mentioned it in the conversation. When Keller Bros had put on the new tire I was presented not with a bill, but with a repair order I needed to sign, as follows: Service Request: Custiomer states tire became flat. She drove about 1/2 mile on it. Customer bought all four ties here. Inspect for safety. * - Replace one tire at no charge to the customer for satisfaction. I was quite amazed! I hadnt even asked for anything!" Now THAT is good service! I can say that since that time my mother has been loyally visiting Keller Bros and continues to be happy with their service. (Our car is still under warranty, but once its not, well probably go there too.)

Nice guys but, I took my 4Runner in for new struts and shocks. They sold me life time parts. Sounded good because I plan to keep it for a long time. Problem is my 4Runner had a very smooth ride before they installed these items. Now it has a very rough ride. I feel every bump in the road. Very disappointed. I got a price from the dealer before I went to Keller. Keller quoted quite a bit less than the dealer, which I would expect. I was looking for a mechanic I could use and trust for a long time. Problem is that they told me later their quote was just for the front, even though I had specifically asked for pricing for struts and shocks. Intentional? Im not sure. Probably not. Again, they seem to be good people. The price was about the same as the dealer. I also had all the fluids changed. Im going to assume they did a good job on those. Hard to tell with the fluids. Bottom line, Im still looking for a good mechanic that I can trust and that charges less than the dealer pricing, where they should be.

Keller Brothers got a National Excellence award over 10 years ago. They include this information on their website and use it to lure customers. When you take your car to them for routine maintenance, they charge an extra $49 "diagnostic fee" not charged by other shops. They use the "diagnostics" to identify additional things they can charge you for. My experience is that you they will always try to charge you for services over and above what is called for in the manufacturers maintenance schedule. Sometimes these services are needed, but a lot of the time, it seems they are just trying to make more $$. As an example, I looked at my (clean) air filter before I took the car in, but they still tried to convince me over the phone that I needed a new one. They also try to sell you the most expensive parts and dont tell you of cheaper options. I hoped to find a repair shop I could trust. This is not the place, and I will continue my search.
