Ive been going to Christian brothers for four or five years now, and I have always felt like they give me all the information and allow me to make the best decision I can, even if that means not getting something fixed right now (theyve even recommended some other shops if I simply couldnt afford the work). True, theyre not the cheapest shop in town, but having spent several years using cheep shops prior to coming to Christian Brothers, Id rather pay the extra and know, 100%, that the work has been done correctly. At one point, my car (subsequently nicknamed Possum) would fail to intermittently fail to start. I would get it towed to CB, and then it would start every time they tried it. Id take it home and a couple of days later it would repeat the whole thing - Id get it towed again, it would start every time at the shop, Id drive it home, and a few days later wed start the cycle over. The staff at CB were so understanding and helpful. As the car was not failing for them, they could not diagnose the problem, but they had an inkling. They thought it might be the fuel pump, but that was an expensive fix to do on a hunch. So, they demonstrated to me, where to tap the underside of the chassis with a rubber mallet the next time Possum played dead - if the issue really was the fuel pump, that tapping would be enough to get it going again. We went away, and a couple of days later Possum "died" again. We hit the spot with the mallet and the car started on the next try. We scheduled the work at CB, they switched out the fuel pump, and the issue was fixed. On another occasion, my sons car needed some REALLY expensive work done - something to do with a broken piston head. We wound up going to a friends mechanic who charged significantly less. About a month after the repair, the engine died completely. I suspect some debris from the prior issue did the deed, and Im almost certain that, had CB dont the work, the car would still be with us today. My preference would be always to have CB do the work. They guarantee what they do, they only do what is needed, and they do it right (and if they dont, theyll fix that too). We have two vehicles (neither of them "new") and four family members using them, so they get a lot of usage. Consequently, we visit CB fairly frequently. To say its always a pleasure is possible hyperbole. After all, who enjoys having car trouble? However, right now Im sitting in the lobby at CB writing this review, drinking the coffee they brewed for me, and looking forward to chatting with David, who does most of the customer interaction. These are good people who I trust, and thats a hard thing to find in an auto shop. They are awesome.

My husband and I have been bringing our vehicles to Christian brothers for the past two years. We have always had courteous but expensive service. This last time we brought our vehicle into Christian brothers we were told a ball joint needed to be replaced to correct the steering alignment issue we had been having. So we paid the steep $800 for the replacement and alignment. This still did not fix the problem, so we returned, only to be told we would need to do the other side and there was a major oil leak too that needed to be fixed immediately, this would bring our 2nd repair to $2300. We decided to hold off and shop around. We called our old mechanic in Denver who quoted us for the same work $1400 (to big of a price difference to not take the car to Denver). We had to wait a month due to financial reasons, in the meanwhile my husband was checking the oil level every couple of days since we "had a major leak" however the oil level never dropped and we never saw any oil on the ground nor smelt it. We took the car up to our mechanic when he called us to pick the car up he told us there was no oil leak at all and he didnt need to replace the ball bearings they just needed to be adjusted, total cost for the repair $79!! Had we left our car with CBA they would have charged us $2300 for unnecessary repairs!!! We brought our business there because we wanted to support a Christian business. Now not only have they lost our business but we will be sure to tell everyone we know to not bring their vehicles there. Shame on them!!

The markup on parts is just so off the chart. They tripped the "check engine" light so that it would illuminate after we had received our estimate and driven off. On Toyotas, this makes two other traction related lights come on and if you are the average car owner, these lights appear very serious. All they have to do on a Toyota is loosen the gas cap but there are many other ways to trip the light on. I ran the diagnostic, tightened the gas cap and guess what?! No issues. No more light. 2004 Camry/Solara front struts (do not need replacing). Their price: $215.96 each. Reputable parts web-site: $61.79. Rack and Pinion Steering Assembly (this is actually leaking). Their price: $799.00. Web price: 214.79 for OEM. Good Things: Courteous and Prompt with their estimate. They charged me NOTHING to work up the estimate. Under no circumstances do I blame the employees. I feel bad for mechanics and employees that MUST find something expensive to fix as a condition of employment. They did find a leak in the Rack and Pinion Steering assembly. Bad Things: The total bill for this repair would have been $2076.12. Parts $1230.92. Labor $703.25. shop supplies, tax, etc. The car does not need new struts. Although profit on parts is expected, their markup is almost 400% over web prices. Who knows what would have been "discovered" as a result of the check engine light?

I went there when it opened. Mainly wanted a diagnostic "it was free" turned out I was right it was the differential bushings needing replaced. They wanted $1,200 plus replacing the CV boot. Guy acted like my safety was an issue....LOL So I did it myself, got the Dealer to give me two of the bushings free, paid $110 for the third one. Christian Brothers wanted like $50 per the two I got free (dealer $30 per) and they wanted $150 for the front one that I paid $110 for. So markup on parts seemed a little high to me. I did the work myself. Cost me $110 and some time...LOL Comparing prices on the Jeep forums this place was REALLY expensive compared to dealers people have had this done at. CV Boot I did, cost was $70 from Autozone to get a WHOLE new shaft with boots. What I did not like and why I would not go back: I overheard the one guy say "he just bought this vehicle used from a dealer, should I send him back as they might fix the issue FREE", "Then head guy comes out and gives me the quote and never mentions what I overheard"...so obviously not a customer friendly shop. Ill never return.....not even for a free look. Funny how 7 month period there are two 5 star reviews and 1 from 6 months ago...hmmmmm Not uncommon of businesses having employees rate themselves up.
