Update: After posting this review, Hillside has contacted me within 24hrs with a sincere apology for my past experience and is sending me a gift with the intentions of offsetting some of the money and trouble I had spent on them. Though it does not change my previous interaction with them, it shows that they do care about their customers and what we have to say. I was pleasantly surprised with what they had to say, that they could have handled the situation better and have made changes to their company to improve. I see that they have good reviews, so do not let me one negative experience sway you from giving them a chance. AAA was who originally pointed me in their direction. I hope they can take what Ive written to improve their customer service further. I appreciate their willingness to call me with an apology ASAP. I had an awful experience at Hillside two years ago. Im only writing about it now because I just unsubscribed from their emails, I thought Id save others from wasting their time with them. I was a college student and my 2004 Hyundai Elantras front end was leaning to the right after hitting a pothole. The front struts among other things had broken. I called AAA to tow it, and because I lived at Park Place Towers, Hillside was not only recommended through AAA, but it was around the corner. First of all, it took them a week to take care of it. My mechanic in New York always has my car taken care of within 24-48 hours. After paying about an $800 bill, I was on the highway going about 65mph when my entire car started to shake. I brought the car back to learn they broke the rotors on my car. How can they tell me everything is fixed on my car? Did they not take it for a test drive? They also broke my hubcaps and left the pieces inside my car with no regard of telling me they were broken or that they would fix/replace them. The next time I had a problem with my car, I called to bring it down, they said to bring it over in an hour, and when I arrived they told me bring it back in 2 hours, as if I didnt have to go to classes or anything? In the meantime I found Modern Tire and Auto Service in West Hartford. They were so nice and helpful, they were able to take care of my car within 15mins and I was on my way. Ive lived in NY, CT and NJ and Hillside is by far the worst auto shop Ive ever had to deal with. Stay away.

I cant say enough about the excellent and friendly service I received from Hillside Automotive Center. On Saturday, October 8th, I was returning home to Vermont after visiting friends in the area when my car became disabled from a broken serpentine belt. I was able to pull into the parking lot of Carter Chevrolet in Manchester at 9 a.m., only to be turned away from Carters service department (I was told that no one from Carters could service a 2002 BMW). After a few phone calls, my husband found Hillside Automotive and they agreed to service my car that day. Hector, the mechanic was phenomenal! Not only did he repair my car and had me back on the road to Vermont later that day, but stayed open past closing time to make sure the job got done. In addition, my husband just got a call from Hillside today (two weeks later) to make sure everything was alright with the car. Now, thats service!! I also mentioned in a less than raving review on Carter Chevrolets website, that customers should bring their vehicles to Hillside Automotive for excellent service for all types of vehicles.

This is the place to go when you have a problem with your car! They helped diagnose a shaking, vibrating Scion XB. I had warranty engine work done at another repair place and had this shaking and vibration problem after the engine was replace the first time. When the engine was replace a 2nd time, the vibration and shake was remarkably worse. I then brought the car to Hillside to do some suspension work; hoping the shake would be resolved; they discovered a "bone dry" left front CV axel... Everything is running fine now and I am going to attempt to get some reimbursement from the first place I went to... I sure wish that I had gone to Hillside Automotive Center back in August when all the troubles started. I would HIGHLY recommend this place for car repairs... they do it the RIGHT way, and they are quick to get the parts, install, and the best part is that they will test drive the vehicle to make sure everything is perfect. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.

I have been getting all my service at the Dealership in the past, however, I had to find some one for a second opinion regarding some of the routine maintenance. Google led me to hill side, and since it had great reviews, I decided to give it a try!!! I could not have been happier. From the moment I dropped my car there, they have taken care of me like family. They told me about what was absolutely necessary repairs ( and what could be held off). I never felt rushed, and the prices were very reasonable! Pick up and drop off was a bonus! I have been in the area for about 2 years, and I dont know why i didnt come here sooner! They are NOT in the market to rip you off. I am confident that they have earned my business for life!! 5 stars!!

Im not usually a 5 star giver for reviews, but they were pretty great in all aspects of my interactions with them. I was having a serious issue with my brakes and they were able to schedule an appointment for me the morning after I called. I was even offered a ride to work nearby which was very much appreciated. I was quoted an appropriate estimate for the job, and the work was done by the time I got out of work at around 4-4:30pm. Now my car is back working great! I also got a 5% discount on labor because of my AAA membership. They are very friendly and professional. I chose them off of the good reviews I saw online and was not disappointed.

Hillside Automotive has consistently provided my family with quality repairs and the customer service is second to none! Gary & Marie Pelletier, the owners, Bob Gehl, the Service Manager and the rest of their staff are extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly and it is always a pleasure dealing with them. My husband and I and now our children all bring our vehicles there and have for many years now. It is wonderful to have people you can trust and count on to maintain one of the most important purchases you will ever make. If you need some repairs or a good reliable used car, stop in and see them, you will be SO glad you did.

Theres a reason my boss and coworkers recommended Hillside, and why I keep using them a decade later. For a small shop theyre up on the latest technologies, including hybrid cars, and have modern computerized diagnostic equipment. I like that they are willing to drive me back to work or home when I drop off my car. Ive never had Hillside recommend something I dont need and while theyre not the cheapest place, Im willing to pay enough to have the work done right the first time. The only downside is that they often have to get parts overnighted, so if youre in a hurry, you might need a dealership.
