I will never return to Precision auto and strongly urge all others to stay away. I originally picked this shop out of all the others in Western Massachusetts because of the positive reviews I read on this site and some awards they won. I first went in on a Monday to get my computer diagnostic system fixed, and they charged me an industry-standard $85, telling me the problem was solved. Although James didnt listen to me when I told him my Check Engine light wasnt on, it was a largely positive experience, so when I noticed my LED brake light was out, I took the car back to Precision the following Wednesday. Then James told me that my intake system was leaking and told me I needed to have it fixed, otherwise I was in great danger driving the car (other auto technicians later disputed this claim). At the same time, he urged me to get the transmission fluid, filter and gasket replaced. After spending more than $1,100, the car seemed to run smoothly, although new warning lights were popping up on the dashboard, most noticeably the Service Theft System warning light. James insisted this warning was on prior to him servicing the vehicle, although neither my wife nor I had ever seen it before. Then the following Saturday -- less than a week after I had the car originally serviced at Precision -- the computer diagnostic system failed again and the vehicle was leaking a noticeable amount of fluid. I told James about the problems, but he said it would be another $85 to fix the computer system (even though Id already paid him earlier to fix it) plus the cost of whatever was causing the leak. I finally wised up and took the vehicle to another mechanic, who said Precision improperly installed the intake system and that was causing a coolant leak. On top of that, Precision used the wrong gasket on the transmission system, which caused transmission fluid to leak. When I told James about that the wrong gasket was used, he said that was impossible because only type of gasket works for that vehicle. He further told me that because I had someone else look at it, my warranty from Precision was void. Apparently getting a second opinion on the myriad of problems that arose after I took the car to Precision was too much for James. Being smart and not wanting to have more problems arise, I decide not to bother with Precision any more. It cost me another $300 just to fix all these problems caused by Precision, but theres no way I would have taken any vehicle back there. I should have known better from the beginning, because while waiting in their offices the first day, another person called in complaining that Precision had caused a problem to the vehicle when fixing another issue. But based on my experiences alone, it is clear the people at Precision are incompetent, corrupt or both. I cannot urge you strongly enough: Stay Away!

These guys are miles ahead of any local dealerships! I have been a loyal customer of theirs for about 5 years now. I have 3 cars and they have kept them all on the road and have helped me keep most of my money in my pocket. Unfortunately I bought a new car a few months back and had some warranty issues I needed to go to the dealer to have corrected. I found with the dealer that I kept getting the run around and that every time I brought the car into them that they would say that they couldn’t verify the issue. I would call only to find that I would have to leave voicemails and no one would call me back. I found myself very frustrated so I called James at Precision and asked if he had ever heard of such a thing. He was very helpful and said that even though the vehicle was under warranty that he would take a look free of charge. I brought the car in and found that even though he was very busy, he took the time to go on a test drive with me to verify my problem. After the road test he pulled the car in, found the issue, explained the issue to me, and a few hours later and James had fixed my issue. It’s been about 6 months since the repair and my car is still running perfectly. James and his team at Precision Auto set the customer service bar high above their competition. They have always exceeded my expectations and that’s why I will never go anywhere else for service or repairs on my Audi.

I am writing to let you know how thrilled I was with your customer service approach with me when I faced a particularly challenging car issue. I am the owner of a 2001 Subaru Outback, which was carefully loved for a full 8 years by me until one warm fall afternoon when it overheated, cracking the engine block and ruining an otherwise peaceful afternoon. In a panic, I brought the Subaru to your shop, sure this was the end of the road for my car. Your team assessed the damage and you offered me several viable options – as well as budgetary options – in order to fix the damage. The most palatable of the choices was to replace the engine (one with 30,000 miles on it) for a reasonable cost. Since the body was still good and you forecasted 4 more happy driving years with the rest of the equipment, and since I had no car payment, I readily agreed. At this writing – the Subaru lasted until the fall of 2012, when other issues forced the car’s ultimate demise. I am happy to say that the engine – with only 65,000 total miles on it has been transplanted into another Subaru and now services a college student in Amherst. I heartily recommend your shop to all who ask “if I know a guy” and I will cheerfully continue to do so.

Honesty is the best policy. These are the words that James Stephenson and his staff live by. I dont know about you but when I get something done I like to know what I am getting for my money. I recently had to get a new exhaust system put on my car. So I did what most people do, shop it around, see who has best price and availability, etc. When I met with James I was blown away. Most people say, "$1,467 to get the job done, when do you want to bring it in." James explained line item by line item everything he was going to do to my car. Even showed me two of the parts that were completely eroded, inoperable and was naturally concerned that I had been driving the vehicle this way because is was not safe or fit to be on the road. Then when I booked the appointment, they made sure I had a ride to and from my office the day I dropped off the car, offered me a rental car if I needed, just did everything in their power to make sure I was taken care of. No one is ever excited to drop hundreds or thousands of dollars on their car, but when you come to Precision you will know what is getting fixed, how long it will last and tips on how to prevent those hefty bills. Thank you James!!

This shop was recently a new experience for me and my 03 VW Passat. I know what most of you are thinking as soon as you saw 03 Passat, lots of issues. I have used a "reputable" local shop in the past which had turned out several poor diagnostics to the tune of several hundred dollars and one frustrated owner, ME. In a conversation with one of the Techs outside of the shop I was impressed with the overall knowledge of my vehicle and the issues that surround it so I made an appointment to have the check engine light diagnosed. They had the car for a day and the bottom line was I needed a factory authorized part and dealer for the fix (ECM). Despite my bad luck with the car I wanted to say this about the auto shop.I was a small business owner and understand that you cant make everyone happy and there is always two sides to the story. This shop was Professional, Clean, and gave me a full explanation of the issue in laymans terms. I will be going back to them for anything else I need with my Passat! I feel that the time they took to thoroughly go over all the possible issues was priceless! Thanks for the help Precision.
