If any other option for cable television service existed I would use it. Charter has steadily increased their prices over the past ten years with no change in their basic service options. They have, however, improved in one area and that is the friendliness and helpfulness of their customer service staff. I have noticed a significant improvement it this area over the couple of years - but this only partially compensates for their high prices and the fact that if their is ever an error in my bill it takes numerous telephone calls (and often a personal visit to their local office) and frequently two or three hours of my time to get it straightened out. I was also the victim recently of what I consider to be a dishonest sales practice. Earlier this year I was offered a very attractive rate if I would switch from my regular cable service to digital and on demand service. I ordered this new service and installed a converter box - then six months later my bill suddenly took a huge jump (more than 66% (!). When I inquired about this increase I was told that the "special rate" I had received to change my service was for "6 months only" - a fact that the representative in the local office failed to advise me of when she was describing the new service and taking my order. When I changed back to my previous service it took a month and a half and several telephone calls and a visit to the local office to get the new bill correct.

Im new to the area so naturally I needed to set up my internet service with the cable company. I liked this locations modern check-in and queue display systems. I also had an overall positive experience discussing my internet needs with the staff. I didnt feel rushed at all and the employees were either knowedgeable or willing to find someone else at the branch who could answer my questions. Now the negative: apparently Charter Spectrum has VERY poor infrastructure because they have refused to put resources into developing it. Just because they provide the best speeds in the area does not mean their speeds are acceptable. I moved from an incredibly remote area of the country and now I am forced to pay the same price for internet that isnt even HALF as fast. Very disappointed in Charter, but this branch did everything they could to assist me.

I understand several folks here are not happy with Charters service. I have not been disappointed with either the cost or the service for what I receive for cable and internet. However, my post is about the customer service at the Willimantic office of Charter. They are an outstanding staff who are incredibly helpful, kind, and thorough. I had to visit their office at least twice for assistance in setting up a new system. Each time, after signing in, I did not have to wait longer than five minutes, they had all my information right there, and were extremely good about telling me what needed to be done. Sometimes we forget that there are hard working people we meet everyday and we do not give them enough credit. The staff at the Charter office in Willimantic is outstanding. Keep up the great work!

They seem to have decreased the staff to their most condescending employees... The simple act of paying a bill and inquiring about increased charges turned into a critique on my ability to pay attention to my bill. Im not the only one though... as I was also told that a lot of other people have been asking the same question. What is the point of having a location if Im told It would be easier for you to do this online... Youre the physical face of the company and should probably try not to talk down to people because youre annoyed by their presence and their questions. Horrible customer service, long lines, and an ample dose of attitude. This place should just close since we all would be better off doing this online.

AWFUL. I just spent 45 minutes trying to find the phone number of my local payment center to try to get my bill straight, and still havent found it. 411 didnt even have the right number to contact them, a source I resorted to after spending 20 minutes going through the automated system trying to tell them Im not a Charter customer anymore, and havent been for 2 months. Im convinced they dont have a phone number because they know how poor their service is, and they dont want to deal with complaints all day long. This, along with a myriad of other problems, is why I would never recommend this service to anyone, EVER. I would rather only read books for the rest of my life than deal with this company.

Im really disappointed to see such a low review of this particular Spectrum branch. However, some of them are quite old. We had a very positive experience on the Saturday morning that we went in. The process was easy ~ sign in on the computer. When its your turn, they call your name. We happened to be third in line that morning and the wait was pretty quick. This all depends on the reason people are there. Our issue (we were swapping out a cable box) was a pretty quick and easy one. Both women that were there that day, were very friendly and helpful...ours and the other one that was there (we could hear the other one interacting with the customer). Keep up the good work!

Stuck with Charter as the only option. Prices are too high, I find invalid charges on my bill, customer service does not listen to what you tell them, etc. But Ill pick one experience in particular that stands out: Our services were all shut off, so we called to ask why. They said we never paid our bill, so we said yes we did, it was even early. They said, "oh yeah, I can see you never missed any payments....I have no idea what happened then." So...turn it back on, right? Nope, they needed to schedule a day to come meet us here to hook it back up. They didnt need anyone here to disable it. If you have a choice, DO NOT CHOOSE Charter!

Okay, Ill be happy to describe my experience. Your website for my local office (Willimantic, CT 06226) states that the office is OPEN. In fact, it states that the business hours for today (September 23, 2014) are from 7:00 am. until 9:00 pm. REALLY????? Well, I got some news for ya! I just came back home after driving round-trip, 22 miles only to find absolutely NO ONE present at Charter Communications on West Main Street, Willimantic CT. I even gave the benefit of the doubt, went back at 7:15 and still...NO ONE THERE! Get your act together. I just wasted 2 gallons of gas and an hour of my time and yeah, Im pretty ticked off right now.

Terrible service. All kinds of hidden fees, late fees when you arent even late yet, they bill you a month in advance so you are paying for service you havent even used yet. Ive paid 2 months at a time thinking Im getting ahead and still they tell me im late. Then they will call 4 or 5 times in one day to tell you that your bill is late (ask when its due and you still have a couple days) As for the internet its slow and randomly stops working for a couple hours at a time, Ive mostly noticed it at night. I switched from Comcast thinking this would be better but its much worse. Im looking for other internet providers because Im done.
