I parked my car in front of the office to get a key to unlock the carts. I find that they are closed probably for lunch and would not return for another 20 minutes. So I proceeded to drive my car to the gate where I would have to type in a code for the giant gate to allow my car through. However the gate was stuck in the open position. There is a security breach. Anybody could just drive into the storage buildings there. I drive my car all the way down to the entrance of an indoor climate-controlled building. This sliding door requires you to type in a code before it will open for you. The door is stuck in the wide-open position. Security breach and climate control breach. Any person or animal can just walk in to everybodys storage units. Security is as good as the lock the customer chooses to use. Those are usually easily defeated with a bolt cutter. Since all three carts are independently padlocked with chains, I had to make many trips to and from my car and my storage room. I go back to the office at the time the sign said she would be back from lunch. This time I took the long walk inside the long building to the office. I had to first leave the indoor storage building to walk outside, and then up to the office. The door closes and locks behind me. My only way back is to walk through the gate outside, and walk all the way back. The office is still locked and I am forced to wait another 10 minutes in 95-degree humid outdoors. Three more customers join me in waiting. I tell them how bad the service, security, conditions, attitude, and price is at Public Storage, and how much superior Life Storage in Longwood is. The attendant returned without any apology and we walked into the air-conditioned office. She looked at me and asked "rest room key?" I mentioned no and that I needed the key to unlock the carts. I also showed her the sign out sheet that showed my name from two days ago to get the key the last time. She said dont worry about that and gave me the key. I finally come back, dripping with perspiration, unlock a cart, and reopen my 10 x 5 room. It costs me $99 per month. I was there to transfer my items to Lifestorage at Longwood. A 5-foot by 10-foot room is $75 / month there. After a while of loading boxes onto my finally acquired cart, the lights go out without any warning or reason. They are not on a timer. I walk over to the three switches at different nearby locations. They have all been changed to motion detectors. A while later the lights go back on by themselves. It is always hard to breathe in there since there never seems to be any air circulation and they do not regulate the humidity. A customer called out to me and asked if I had a key for the other carts. They said they made a special trip to the office, only to be told there is only one key for all three cart locks. I walk back down to unlock a cart for them. They agree that the facility is badly managed and in bad condition. However they just purchased a home and would not need storage anymore. I helped the customer finish loading our cars, and proceed to drive back over to the gate which is now closed and locked. Fortunately he entered the code to open the gate and I just followed right behind him. I reparked in front of the office, got out, and walked back into the office. As usual, the girl in the office was hidden in the corner with her head resting on the desk behind the counter. I left the key for her for when she is finished with her nap.

First off I would like to say that this location is extremely accommodating. I called Kim on a Saturday and let her know that I was on the way. She told me she leaves at 4:30 PM. Meanwhile my GPS is telling me Im going to get there at 4:45 PM. Nervously Im telling her that I will be there late and she said who cares Ill be here waiting for you! Im sorry, but Ive been in the moving and storage business my whole life and never has anyone, especially on a Saturday, said Ill wait for you. To my surprise she was there at 5 PM when I arrived. We went through the paperwork and I had a unit that day. If she would have left I would have had to stay the night around the storage location and get the unit in the morning. I really appreciate the understanding that Kim had and will never forget it. If you are looking for a storage in the Lake Mary area then Kim is who you want to deal with! Audrey was there as well and she was a big help getting the paperwork finished. A huge THANKS! to KIM and AUDREY

This location is by far the worst in customer service. By that I mean, there is never anyone in the office to actually perform a service for any customer. Of my many visits in the last year, I have NEVER had any one attending the office to help with forgotten codes or what have you. And currently, my last 3 attempts to find an employee to close my account have failed. If I am charged an additional month- we will have issues.
