I was getting a vibration in my truck. Last Friday I took my truck in for a balance, rotation and tire alignment. When I left, it was still there, so, I decided to bring it back and have them do a brake inspection (that is what they call it). They said I needed new rotors in the front and 3 of the 4 tires on my truck were severely out of balance. I reminded them that they balanced the tires 5 days ago. Their response was, "They must have balanced the tires on the machine that was out of calibration." WHAT!!!! Why is the machine even in operation if it does not balance tires correctly? I left the truck there to get the brakes done. They called me later in the day and said the truck is ready. I asked if the vibration was gone. I was told the mechanic test drove it and everything was fine. On my way home with my truck I was still getting a vibration. I called the service manager and he said bring it back. The next morning I brought it back. The mechanic on duty test drove my truck and said he could feel the bad vibration immediately. Huh, why didnt the other guy feel it?! They must have lied about test driving it. They also failed to replace the spindle nut, which is a one time use only nut that Ford uses. They reused the old one! I also had to inform them of the correct torque for this spindle nut! They took my truck back in to garage and did a so called brake inspection again. Now my back rotors are warped. They started replacing the back rotors. At that point they noticed a bolt missing from the rear caliper. according to the mechanic, this could have been the whole problem from the beginning (making the vibration). How do you overlook a missing bolt while doing an inspection, if the customer is complaining of a bad vibration!? 1000 dollars later and I feel like I am an idiot for not reading these other people’s reviews. Use caution when using the Pepboys on 23rd street. There is more, I am just tired of typing. ****** ADDING TO THE STORY***** I finally picked up my truck Saturday. I asked what did you torque the spindle nut to. They said 275ft-lbs. Factory specs are 296 ft_lbs. I drive a 2005 F150. It is not like I have some Italian sports car that no one ever sees. They do not have the ability to tighten rotors for a Ford truck correctly, but, they say they do and will send you out the door thinking they do. I had to come home and tighten the bolts myself with my torque wrench. EARLIER, I TYPED USE CAUTION WHEN USING THIS PEP BOYS. I CHANGED MY MIND. DO NOT USE THEM!

What a bunch of morons! Although they were nice, these guys have absolutely no clue what they are doing, We were on vacation when our car began making a hideous grinding noise in the steering column. Took it to Pep Boys (against my better judgement but it was a Saturday and had no choice) and dropped it off. I explained to them that I was on vacation and really needed it to be looked at right away. They told me they were busy and would get to it as soon as they could. I had to wander around the area for four hours only to find out they wouldnt even be able to look at it that day. Stranded and all rental car companies closed at 12:00 so I had to take a $50 taxi back to the condo in Panama City Beach; did I mention I had two kids in tow? The next day I called them at 1:00 because I hadnt heard anything. Their response? "Well, Mark put (I cant remember his name) on the job and hes not here today" Are you kidding me? Its now Sunday and I still have no car! They tell me they will get someone to look at it. Then they call me back and tell me they cant get anyone because they only have one "master tech" who can look at Mercedes so it will be tomorrow before they can look at it; fabulous! So Monday rolls around, now we can at least rent a car but had to spend more money again on a taxi to get to the rental car company, and I find out the rack and pinion is shot..Really? I just had it replaced two months ago and this is only a five year old car....I call the place back home that originally fixed it and they tell me its covered under waranty if I can just get it to a NAPA certified shop. I call the NAPA line, find an incredible mechanic and chance my luck by driving my wounded car back across Panama City to Panama City Beach. Surprise.....Pep Boys was wrong! It was simply an "O" ring that needed replaced. After all this, Pep Boys ended up costing me a fortune. Had to extend the vacation, more hotel money, food money, rental car company, etc. They guys are completely incompentent. DO NOT USE THEM.....Frimet to Z (the name of the mechanic who actually DID fix it) dropped everything for us to get us home. These guys were absolutely great and I cannot say enough about them....

I took my van here for a squeaky noise. I told the manager i had already replaced the belt and the idler pulley, and that I wanted to know what was causing this noise. He took no notes what so ever, forcing me to sit and wait 2 hours so that I could explain to the mechanic the problem and what I had already done. The mechanic named Rocky advised me the problem was 100% the tensioner. After 4 hours of waiting I received a quote and decided to bring it in the next morning. Dropped it off at 10am, called at 5pm and they said it was ready. Drove down, waited 30 minutes to pay, and guess what...it was squeaking worse than when I dropped it off.I told the Manager I was not happy and that it needed to be fixed as they had it for 7 hours and it was worse than before. I then waited another hour for them to even pull it in and look at it. During this time the mechanic who repaired it named Curtis left, stating that his Manager left no notes on the work order for him to even know it was there for a squeak, he just replaced the part that was told to be replaced. After waiting an hour the next idiot mechanic named Ray came in the office to get the work order, he commented that it was probably squeaking because it had an old belt...at which point I advised the idiot that it in fact had a brand new belt and that he should go look at it before making assumptions. Of course this idiot couldnt figure out the problem either. It was at this point that I asked for all my money back, including the diagnostic fee paid the day before. I would never ever go to this place, it is run by an idiot and all of its employees are idiots. Even with the refund I had to go back in because the idiot assistant manager couldnt count out the correct amount of cash for the refund. IDIOTS all of them.

My mom and I have been dealing with this place for 3 weeks now. My mom needs her driver side window repaired and she has yet to have the repairs done. The first time she dropped her car off, it wasnt even touched and the WORST part about it was that they lied to her saying they had but her car just sat in the same parking space for 3 HOURS! The second time around was equally as bad. I pick her up as she drops her car off to be looked at and after 3 hours when I take her back to check on the status of her car, they diagnosed the problem but didnt have the part available and even though they werent able to perform the service they still left the door off so we had to wait another 20 minutes. Once the car was brought around and my mom tried to crank it the car would not start. They had left the light on while they left the door off and the car open for 3 hours. The mechanic that left the door off said he would charge it and test it. Well he never came back, it took my mom going into the repair area to find someone to do it. The only nice and helpful employee at that location, Jeremy, brought the tools needed to get my moms car started (not the first guy that was suppose to do it). Well the icing on the cake happened today when my mom called me and said AAA was on their way to tow her car back to Pep Boys because her car wouldnt start since the battery was dead! Hopefully they made it right and got her a new battery in a timely manner. I wouldnt recommend this location to anyone with a pulse. They employees lie and are condescending. Terry, some older guy, and all the rest have been a nightmare to deal with. Jeremy is the only one that was some what helpful.
